Chapter 2: Give an Explanation

Several thoughts flashed through her mind, and Yunzhi stepped into the courtyard.

The old mammy guarding the door greeted Yunzhi with a smile and said, “Madam, please wait a moment, let me inform the old lady first.”

“Thank you, Mammy Wu.” Yunzhi nodded lightly, watching the old woman rush into the house. As she informed the old lady, the room instantly fell silent, as if a pause button had been pressed.

After a long time, Yunzhi finally heard the old lady Wang’s voice coming from inside, cold and tinged with annoyance, “Let her in!”

“Yes!” Mammy Wu responded, then hurried out. Seeing Yunzhi standing in the corridor waiting, her eyes flickered with a moment of complexity. However, she quickly recovered and smiled, “Madam, the old lady asks you to come in.”

“I understand.” Yunzhi nodded lightly and stepped through the door. As soon as she entered, she saw the old lady holding a child in her arms, with a man and a woman sitting beside her.

The man was her husband, An Xiuyuan, the Marquis of Dingyuan, who had left the capital on their wedding day. The woman must be the one he brought back today.

The two sat together, looking a little uncomfortable when they saw Yunzhi.

No wonder the old lady was so happy, it was because of the child.

The old lady glanced at Yunzhi indifferently, and uttered two words in a cold and indifferent tone, “Sit down!”

Yunzhi sat down below the old lady, raised her head to look at her, and waited for her to introduce the woman and child’s identities. Even though she already knew, she wanted to see how they would explain it.

The old lady looked at Yunzhi, but didn’t speak. She waited for Yunzhi to speak first, but Yunzhi, known for her composure, had no intention of speaking.

Instead, Wang Yuzhen, who was sitting beside her, smiled and spoke. She looked at Yunzhi and said with a smile, “This must be my younger sister, right? I am Wang Yuzhen, the old lady’s niece from her maternal family. I grew up in the mansion with Brother Xiuyuan and have always been close to him. Before, there was some misunderstanding between me and Brother Xiuyuan, so we were separated for so many years. Now, I’m back, and Brother Xiuyuan personally came to find me. Yunzhi raised her eyebrows and glanced at Wang Yuzhen lightly. She didn’t expect her to be a green tea.
