Chapter 53: Who Cares About Her
Watching Rulan leave happily, Yunzhi shook her head with a smile.
Wang Yuzhen had been waiting outside for a while. Seeing that no one came out, she couldn’t help but feel anxious. Of course, she was also resentful towards Yunzhi, believing that it was all because of her that the Hou’s title was stripped.
Time ticked by, and Wang Yuzhen became increasingly impatient. Just when she was thinking that Yunzhi might not want to see her, she saw Rulan come out.
Seeing Rulan, her heart lit up, and she immediately went forward and asked, “Miss Rulan, is the Princess willing to see me?”
“Mrs. Wang, my lady is not free, so you can go back where you came from.” Rulan said indifferently. She had no affection for Wang Yuzhen, the woman who had stolen her lady’s man.
Of course, she had even less affection for An Xiuyuan. If he had someone else in his heart, why did he have to bother her lady, giving her the title of a second marriage?
Many people outside were saying that her lady was a good match for the Regent King, and she wasn’t unaware of it. The reason why everyone said so was mostly because her lady was a second marriage.
If she had to say, her lady was such a brilliant and talented person, she deserved the best man in the world. Those who said her lady was not worthy of the Regent King were simply blind.
“She doesn’t want to see me?” The light in Wang Yuzhen’s eyes dimmed instantly, and she looked heartbroken.
Seeing Wang Yuzhen’s appearance, Rulan didn’t feel happy, but rather disgusted. She said, “Mrs. Wang, don’t cry. Don’t let people think I bullied you.”
“I didn’t!” Wang Yuzhen really wanted to cry, but as soon as Rulan spoke, she had to hold back her tears.
Yunzhi wouldn’t see her, and she couldn’t plead for the Hou’s title. This left Wang Yuzhen at a loss.
Just then, a carriage drove up. Wang lifted the curtain of the carriage and saw Wang Yuzhen looking unhappy.
Earlier, she couldn’t accept that her son’s title was actually stripped, so she fainted in a fit of anger. However, she didn’t expect that while she was unconscious, Wang Yuzhen would go and beg Yunzhi.
Yunzhi was clearly the culprit who caused the Hou’s title to be stripped, yet Wang Yuzhen actually went to beg her. She was simply a fool.
In her opinion, it would be better to go to the palace and beg the Empress Dowager. Perhaps there was still room for negotiation.
Therefore, she rushed to find Wang Yuzhen, wanting to take her to the palace together. She thought that they could get to know the Empress Dowager better.
“Yuzhen, what are you standing there for? Come here!” Wang saw her niece still standing there foolishly and was furious. Her face became even more unpleasant.
Hearing her mother-in-law’s voice, Wang Yuzhen came to her senses and went to Wang, asking, “Mother, why are you here?”
“If I don’t come, you’ll lose all the face of our Hou’s family.”
“Mother, our family is no longer the Hou’s family.” Wang Yuzhen reminded her. They were currently in front of Yunzhi’s villa, so it was better to be careful with their words. Otherwise, if someone heard them, they would be accused of defying the imperial decree.
“Shut your mouth. Come on, let’s go to the palace. I don’t believe that with my relationship with the Empress Dowager, we can’t keep this title.”
It has to be said that Wang was full of confidence at this moment. She had forgotten that the last time she went to the palace was three years ago. At that time, her husband was still alive, and the old Marquis Dingyuan held real power, so the Empress Dowager naturally looked at her with favor.
But now, Marquis Dingyuan was her son, and he had long lost his real power. Who would care about her?
