Chapter 61: The Main Event
The people had arrived, and Princess Langhua grew increasingly anxious. Just as she was considering whether to give Yunzhi another dose of something potent, she saw Yunzhi reach out to touch her forehead, looking uncomfortable.
Princess Langhua immediately went forward, asking with concern, “Your Highness, are you feeling unwell? Would you like to rest in the pavilion over there?”
“My head is a bit dizzy,” Yunzhi nodded, her face flushed. She leaned against Rumei, but still followed Princess Langhua’s hand, looking towards the pavilion in the distance.
The pavilion was situated at the edge of the peony garden, surrounded by gauze curtains. One couldn’t see inside at a glance. The pavilion faced the peony garden, with a corridor and a row of houses behind it. Those houses were probably for resting.
Yunzhi only glanced at it before withdrawing her gaze, nodding and saying, “Alright, let’s go rest there for a while.”
“Alright, I’ll take you there.” Princess Langhua’s voice was a little excited, but she put on a worried expression, saying, “You look like you’re sick. Should I call a doctor to take a look?”
“No, I’m fine. It’s probably from the heat.” Yunzhi waved her hand, thinking to herself, how could she continue her act if a doctor came?
Of course, Princess Langhua was just saying it. Even if Yunzhi had asked for a doctor, she wouldn’t have called one.
Soon, Yunzhi arrived at the pavilion. Inside, tea and fruit had already been laid out, and incense was even lit, the scent quite pleasant.
However, this incense, combined with the substance added to the tea Yunzhi had drunk earlier, produced an effect far stronger than the aphrodisiac.
If one were to smell only the incense, it would induce unconsciousness. It had to be said, Princess Langhua had prepared quite thoroughly.
This way, even if Rulan and Rumei were by her side, they would pass out soon. When her poison took effect, others could do whatever they wanted to her.
Yunzhi hadn’t expected them to use such a tactic against her, and her gaze turned cold. It was true she wanted to withdraw from the marriage, but not in this way.
She would withdraw, but she would also protect her reputation.
After sending Yunzhi to the pavilion, Princess Langhua didn’t stay long. Claiming she had to greet other guests, she left in a hurry. However, shortly after she left, a sneaky man emerged from the houses behind the pavilion.
Hearing the man’s footsteps, Yunzhi knew the main event was about to begin.
She glanced at Rulan and Rumei, signaling them to pretend to faint.
Rulan and Rumei nodded, then slumped on the table.
The man was excited, and in a few strides, he reached the pavilion, reaching out to lift the gauze curtains. The people in the mansion had said that if he took the beauty in the pavilion, he would be rewarded with one thousand taels of silver.
Thinking about how he would not only get a beauty but also silver, the man became even more excited.
Therefore, he quickly lifted the gauze curtains and slipped into the pavilion. When he saw Yunzhi sitting in the pavilion, drinking tea, he was stunned.
“You’re here!” Yunzhi calmly glanced at the man, recognizing him as a beggar hired from outside. It had to be said, Princess Langhua was quite ruthless, using such a man to humiliate her.
Unfortunately, she was destined to be disappointed.
“You, you’re fine?” The man looked at Yunzhi in shock, thinking to himself, how was this different from what he was told? Wasn’t she supposed to be drugged?
But the girl before him had clear eyes, not at all like someone who had been drugged.
