Chapter 84: Providing Clues

“It’s okay, we’ll face whatever comes our way,” said Yunzhi, unconcerned. Even if she was in trouble, so be it. As a doctor, she would still save those who needed her help.

Moreover, Duke Qin had paid a hefty sum, and she would ensure their investment was worth it.

Besides, she was never one to tolerate injustice. She initially didn’t want to get involved, but they had the audacity to follow her and issue such a warning.

If it weren’t for her and Rulan’s quick reflexes and martial arts skills, an ordinary person would have been injured.

Yunzhi decided she wouldn’t let this slide.

“Rulan, deliver this dart and note to Duke Qin personally. I believe he’ll be delighted we’re providing him with clues,” she instructed.

“Yes, Miss!” Rulan nodded. Even if her mistress hadn’t said anything, she would have found a way to deal with the perpetrators. The people from the Shadow Pavilion had never been warned like this before. Losing face was one thing, but challenging the Shadow Pavilion was another matter entirely.

After their meal, the mistress and maid didn’t return to the Shadow Pavilion directly but went back to Duke Qin’s mansion.

The Duke was puzzled to see the divine doctor return. He was worried if his wife hadn’t paid enough for the consultation when Rulan handed him the dart and note, saying, “Duke of Qin, this is a grand gift from my mistress for your esteemed house.”

The Duke was utterly confused. “What kind of gift is this?” he thought.

But when he saw the words on the note, his face instantly changed. After listening to Yunzhi, he suspected his second son might be behind this. After all, if the eldest son was gone, the second son would be the heir.

However, the people he sent to investigate found nothing. He had to dismiss his suspicions, thinking he might be overreacting.

Now, seeing the familiar handwriting, the Duke’s face darkened.

“You little rascal, Second Son!”

However, this alone wasn’t enough to convict his second son. He needed to find concrete evidence.

With this in mind, the Duke decided on a course of action. “Please convey my thanks to the divine doctor, Rulan. The reward will be sent to the Shadow Pavilion shortly.”

“Of course. We’ll be on our way then,” Rulan nodded and left the Duke’s mansion.

Seeing Rulan return, Yunzhi smiled and asked, “You’re back. What did the Duke say?”

“He thanked you, Miss.”

“Hmm!” Yunzhi nodded. She had provided the clues, and now it was up to the Duke to decide whether to protect his eldest son or his youngest.

However, this was no longer her concern. She had to get back to her patients. Two more appointments were waiting.

Rulan drove the carriage to the second patient’s house. This patient was an elderly woman who constantly complained of headaches. She had consulted many doctors, but nothing seemed to work.

After examining her, Yunzhi realized the woman’s problem wasn’t serious. Although she was old, she loved reading. Her eyesight wasn’t good, so she often bent her head while reading. Over time, this caused insufficient blood supply to her brain, leading to dizziness and headaches.

Yunzhi gave her a few acupuncture needles and advised her to read less. She also prescribed a formula to improve her eyesight and taught the woman’s servants a set of massage techniques before leaving.

Because she spent a bit more time with the second patient, Yunzhi arrived at the third patient’s house a little late.
