The revelry continued for most of the night.
Outside the window, bursts of light soared into the sky, blooming like clusters of shooting stars, dazzlingly bright.
As midnight approached, Ji Yucang and Shen Ning returned to their room to wash up.
Accompanied by the bright fireworks outside the window, Ji Yucang pinned Shen Ning between the bed and himself, gazing deeply into her serene and composed eyes, his own eyes burning with intensity: “The atmosphere tonight is perfect, Ning, shall we…”
Shen Ning lay quietly on the bed, looking back at him with a calm and composed expression: “I was just wondering how long you could remain unmoved.”
Her body had recovered to its original state half a month ago. Every night when they went to bed, noticing Ji Yucang’s darkened gaze, she would wonder if he would lose control at any moment.
Unexpectedly, he endured day after day, only enduring like a monk who remained unmoved, causing Shen Ning to repeatedly wonder in her heart what he was hesitating for.
Was he hesitating because this body did not belong to her?
But her original body had already died and been buried, and Shen Ning’s soul had returned to the underworld. She could not return to her original body, and for the rest of her life, she would only live as Shen Ning.
Was he hesitating out of fear of hurting her?
He had repeatedly said that they were husband and wife, and that they would eventually take that step. If there was to be any harm, it seemed that the more he endured, the more it would backfire.
Therefore, Shen Ning did not understand what he was enduring for.
Now, facing Ji Yucang’s deep and dark eyes, she finally asked: “Did you intentionally choose New Year’s Eve for our wedding night?”
“Today is the last day of the year, midnight is the last half-hour of today, and the other half-hour is tomorrow, which is also the New Year.” Ji Yucang’s tone was particularly serious, “If we can be intimate from the end of the year to the beginning of the new year, does it mean that we can be husband and wife, deeply in love, every year, every day, every hour?”
Shen Ning: “…”
The winter night was bitingly cold, but the room was warm with the floor heating on. Shen Ning felt a bit too warm. She had just bathed and was wearing a close-fitting nightgown. Now, with Ji Yucang pressing against her, the front of her gown had loosened, revealing a hint of her white collarbone, her skin like jade, glowing with a fine sheen under the lamplight.
A faint fragrance continuously wafted into Ji Yucang’s nostrils, challenging his self-control, which was already at its limit.
The corners of Shen Ning’s mouth raised slightly, stared at him fixedly for a moment, and took the initiative to kiss the corners of his mouth, and the woman’s delicate voice was a little provocative: “From the end of the year to the beginning of the year?” Ji Yucang, don’t talk too much, it depends on whether you have the physical strength. ”
This sentence questioned the man’s ability. Who could still endure?
Ji Yucang’s eyes darkened. He lowered his head to capture her lips, demonstrating through action whether he was capable or not.
The long night stretched on, and the fireworks continued to bloom.
In the bedroom of Golden Courtyard, the couple finally welcomed their true wedding night after their marriage.
“Ning, let’s not sleep tonight.” The man’s low voice was filled with suppressed desire, yet it perfectly conveyed a hint of pleasurable tone, “I will love you until the fireworks stop, is that alright?”
Shen Ning’s eyes were hazy. Her slender waist was firmly held, and she felt as if she was being carried to the clouds, her mind in a daze, stripping away all her rationality bit by bit.
She clenched her teeth, unwilling to make any sounds that would embarrass her.
But Ji Yucang clearly wouldn’t let her off. He leaned down, tempting her: “Ning, call my name…”
Shen Ning looked at him with a bewildered gaze and suddenly bit his shoulder, sinking into the sea of desire with him.
……
Shen Ning didn’t know when the fireworks outside had stopped.
She also didn’t know when she had fallen asleep.
All she knew was that when she woke up, the sun was high outside, and there was no sound in the room, so quiet that she could clearly hear the steady breathing of the person beside her.
Shen Ning opened her eyes and turned to meet a pair of dark, gentle eyes. The face looking at her was as handsome as a god, appearing refreshed and obviously satisfied. Despite not sleeping all night, his complexion was excellent.
In contrast, she felt like her bones were about to fall apart.
She was wrong.
The person who had spoken too confidently wasn’t him, but herself.
“Awake?” Ji Yucang’s lips curled into a smile, “How do you find your husband’s abilities, my lady? Did I disappoint you?”
Shen Ning glared at him with an unfriendly gaze.
Ji Yucang suppressed a laugh and quickly apologized: “Last night was your first time, my lady. Your husband shouldn’t have been so eager to prove himself and acted so recklessly. I should have been gentler with you.”
Shen Ning frowned and narrowed her eyes slightly.
“It’s just that you were too tempting, my lady, causing your husband to lose himself in indulgence. I couldn’t restrain myself. I hope you can forgive me.” Ji Yucang got up and began to massage Shen Ning’s waist, back, and thighs, “Is it very sore and painful?”
Shen Ning closed her eyes, too lazy to answer such a boring and embarrassing question.
However, it was the first time she realized that Ji Yucang could also be a wicked person, using his physical advantage to bully her and then being proud and arrogant afterward.
“Because last night was too crazy, we missed the dumplings this morning and can only wait until noon to eat them.” Ji Yucang’s hands rested on her waist, carefully massaging her. After saying this, he leaned down and stole a kiss near her ear, “Although I think you’re tastier than dumplings, Ning.”
Shen Ning closed her eyes: “Do you think I’m powerless now, so you can just bully me as you please?”
Ji Yucang’s smile faded, and he lowered his gaze: “I wouldn’t dare. Your husband has finally gotten his wish, and I’m just too happy.”
Shen Ning didn’t speak anymore, feeling a slight palpitation in her heart.
Although she couldn’t empathize completely, she seemed to understand his long-standing unrequited love, the disappointment of learning she was married, and the pain and regret of hearing about her death.
When someone could pay the price of renouncing offspring for your rebirth, Shen Ning didn’t think there was anything in this world more important to him than the person he cared about, even though she felt such feelings were too obsessive, with a kind of madness that was hard to understand.
But she could try to understand.
