Chapter 4: Don’t Randomly Choose a Place to Use the Bathroom

Li Chenfeng ran back to the shelter and called out, “Senior?”

Ning Jingjing also heard Lu Xinyao’s scream and asked anxiously, “She said she urgently needed to go, so she headed into the jungle.”

“Stay here and don’t run off,” he said, and then he went searching in the direction Ning Jingjing had pointed.

Ning Jingjing stood there in a daze and asked, “Oh… if something happened to me, would he be this worried?”

“Pah, what are you thinking! Don’t you dare get hurt!”

Li Chenfeng followed the sound and found Lu Xinyao.

Lu Xinyao was sitting on a patch of damp ground with an unidentified puddle beside her, and when Li Chenfeng came running she felt both surprised and embarrassed because, after all, a goddess could not allow anyone to see her in such an awkward state.

Li Chenfeng scanned the surroundings and realized at once that the damp, shadowy area with dead leaves where scorpions hid was exactly the kind of place those venomous creatures favored.

He scooped Lu Xinyao up in his arms and sprinted back to the shelter.

“It’s okay, Senior, I’m here.”

Lu Xinyao wrapped her arms around Li Chenfeng’s neck and blushed as she said, “Mm.”

He gently set Lu Xinyao down and asked, “How are you? Where are you hurt?”

Lu Xinyao awkwardly tugged her T-shirt up to reveal a swollen, reddened spot on the inside of her left thigh, and the embarrassing location made her wish she could crawl into a hermit crab’s shell.

Li Chenfeng immediately associated the wound’s location with scorpions and some unidentified creature and understood at once.

Before there was time for embarrassment, he heard a system prompt: 『Please find an appropriate method to clean your companion’s wound.』

Li Chenfeng immediately grabbed a vine and tied it tightly 4–5 cm from the wound, saying, “Hold on; this is the only way to prevent the toxin from spreading.”

Tears filled Lu Xinyao’s eyes as she said, “Mm.”

“Xinyao, does it hurt a lot?” Ning Jingjing asked, and although she normally acted carefree and fearless, at critical moments her mind turned to mush and she could only comfort Xinyao with words.

Li Chenfeng then picked up a plastic bag from the beach, covered the wound on Lu Xinyao’s thigh with it, crouched down, and began to suck the wound forcefully with his mouth.

“Mm… ow, it hurts!”

Hearing that made Li Chenfeng’s body tremble.

Lu Xinyao gritted her teeth and endured the pain, her face flushed either from the strain or from embarrassment.

After a while of sucking, Li Chenfeng drew out a pool of black, poisonous blood.

“It’s okay now; I’ll go find some herbs to apply, and Ning Jingjing, loosen the vine for about one minute every ten minutes and then tighten it again.”

Li Chenfeng searched the ground for a long time and found several dandelions beside a rock.

Dandelion was an excellent remedy for reducing inflammation and relieving pain.

He quickly picked a few, wrapped the dandelions in banana leaves, smashed them with a stone, gently placed the crushed dandelion on the wound, covered it with another leaf, and bound the edges with thin vines.

“Alright, it shouldn’t be a big problem; there may be some residual toxin, but the body should regulate itself in a couple of days.”

Lu Xinyao could not look Li Chenfeng in the eye and said, “Thank you!”

Ning Jingjing asked Li Chenfeng curiously, “Why use a plastic bag as a barrier? Wouldn’t it be better to just suck it directly?”

“What if someone accidentally ingested some toxin and was poisoned? Using a barrier avoids that risk, doesn’t it?”

“Ning Jingjing, watch Senior; I’ll go and fetch some food.”

Ning Jingjing nodded seriously and said, “Leave this to me; you can relax.”

The two chatted happily at the shelter while Li Chenfeng, under the scorching sun, searched desperately for food like a stray dog rummaging through trash.

Looking around, the sea was nothing but sand and water with not a single rock, and its lake-blue color had a bit of a Maldives vibe, which would have been nice for a vacation, but right now Li Chenfeng was more eager to find something to eat.

“Wasn’t foraging at low tide supposed to be easy in those videos? How come there’s not a single mantis shrimp, big crab, or giant conch here?”

He flipped and searched along the shoreline, but it was nothing but trash, until a clump of seaweed floated to Li Chenfeng’s feet with the waves.

He picked it up and exclaimed, “Huh, isn’t this dragon-beard seaweed? It’s delicious in hot pot!”

Dragon-beard seaweed not only cleared heat and detoxified, reduced swelling and cleansed the intestines, but also contained abundant protein and carbohydrates, as well as minerals like calcium, iron, and iodine.

“This will help Senior a bit; it should be good for her injury.”

He stuffed all the dragon-beard seaweed into a plastic bag and continued searching the beach.

Li Chenfeng had planned to go into the jungle to look for wild fruit, but after what happened to Lu Xinyao he realized the danger there and adopted the principle of avoiding risks and staying within known safe areas.

He searched for most of the day and still found nothing, and the intense ultraviolet rays were something he could not withstand even after upgrading his Constitution.

“No choice, I have to head back for now.”

Back at the shelter, Li Chenfeng tilted his head back and drank the coconut water in great gulps because he was so thirsty.
