“Divine Doctor Military Wife: Married the Wildest Officer and Had Babies” Chapter 30

Chapter 30 – The Argument…

With a cheeky smile, she held the item up in front of the man.
“See? This proves it was you who stole it, He Yunshen…”

But the moment she looked up, her eyes collided with his—deep and cold as an abyss.

He stared at her intently, eyes filled with longing, and then gently pressed a warm kiss on Ning Wanwan’s soft pink lips.

For a moment, Ning Wanwan was stunned. He Yunshen’s sudden tenderness completely caught her off guard.

When did it start, she wondered… When did He Yunshen begin to have feelings for her?

She stood frozen, letting him kiss her, but eventually panicked and shoved him away.

He Yunshen had always harbored suspicions about her—how could she let him uncover her secrets?

Time travel was such an absurd thing; there was no way he’d believe it. Instead of living in fear, it was better to distance herself early on…

He Yunshen’s eyes were filled with sorrow and hope. Looking at her face, he finally spoke the words that had been trapped in his heart:

“Ning Wanwan, I like—”

Ning Wanwan abruptly cut him off, lowering her eyes and speaking firmly,
“He Yunshen, don’t say another word. We’re in the middle of a divorce. There’s nothing more between us than that.”

“…Is that really how you feel?”

He Yunshen quietly picked her up and placed her back in her wheelchair. He looked at her for a long moment, waiting for her final answer.

She gazed at his sharply defined features, and eventually gave a small, firm nod.

He Yunshen let out a bitter laugh, but the sadness in his eyes still betrayed him.

“Alright, Ning Wanwan. I’ll let you go. Tomorrow, I’ll submit the divorce request. Once it’s approved, we’ll go finalize the papers.”

With that, he turned and strode out of the courtyard, his expression cold and unreadable.

Ning Wanwan didn’t feel any better. How could such an outstanding man not stir her heart at all?

But with all her secrets, she couldn’t accept him. He was a soldier, a staunch materialist. Compared to love, her safety was far more important—one wrong move, and she’d be doomed.

Besides, she had so much yet to do. Maybe separation was truly the best option for both of them.

Although she inherited the original Ning Wanwan’s memories, she didn’t inherit her emotions. Her own feelings for He Yunshen were only just beginning.

Xu Cuihua watched He Yunshen leave with a stormy expression and walked in carrying a tray of food.

She really couldn’t understand how the two of them could go from fine one moment to fighting the next.

“Wanwan, you and Commander He…”

Ning Wanwan smiled faintly. “Sister-in-law, let’s not talk about it. We’ve still got dumplings left—let’s eat some more.”

Meanwhile, He Yunshen was leaning against the car door, a lit cigarette between his fingers. He hadn’t smoked in a long time and coughed lightly as he exhaled.

Hearing a noise, Ning Wanwan glanced out the window, just in time to see his car roar away.

Xu Cuihua munched on dumplings, sighing silently to herself.
Such a perfect pair—why did they insist on making things so hard?

That afternoon, Xiao Song drove back to pick up some of He Yunshen’s belongings. He greeted Ning Wanwan, grabbed two large bags, and left.

Ning Wanwan didn’t think much of it. She took Xu Cuihua to the market again and bought plenty of meat and vegetables.

She even cooked two extra meat dishes for dinner. But no matter how long she waited, He Yunshen didn’t show up.

By 8 p.m., she finally ate alone, distracted and downcast. After cleaning up, she stood at the doorway for a while, staring out.

In the deep night, aside from the buzzing of cicadas, there was nothing.

From the shadows outside the yard, He Yunshen silently watched the lights in her house go out before sneaking back inside.

Even though he’d stormed off that afternoon, he couldn’t bring himself to truly leave her alone.

He let out a helpless, bitter smile.
He Yunshen, you’ve really fallen this time.

Back then, Ning Wanwan loved you like crazy, and you didn’t care.
Now that she’s made up her mind to leave, you can’t let go.

Maybe you really did break her heart before.
What goes around comes around…

Early the next morning, He Yunshen quietly returned to the military base, fully dressed.

Ning Wanwan woke up with dark circles under her eyes. Living alone in the large, empty house, she hadn’t been able to sleep at all.

She even went into He Yunshen’s room to check—his neatly folded bedding was completely untouched.

When Xu Cuihua arrived, she went to make breakfast as usual. Seeing Ning Wanwan lost in thought, she sighed softly.

“Wanwan, let me give you some advice—husband and wife should never hold a grudge overnight. Why don’t you listen to your sister-in-law and try to make peace with Commander He?”

Ning Wanwan simply smiled and shook her head, then changed the subject.
“Sis, don’t try to talk me into it. What’s for breakfast? It smells amazing.”

After breakfast, she and Xu Cuihua sat in the courtyard to enjoy the breeze. Zhang Yun and Li Ping later joined them. The women embroidered and chatted, enjoying the peace.

Since Ning Wanwan’s free clinic, her title of “miracle doctor” had stuck. Some patients even traveled from far away just to see her.

Tomorrow was another clinic day at the market—it would be a busy one, no doubt. For now, she was glad to have a rare moment of quiet.

Xu Cuihua made lunch. Ning Wanwan, knowing He Yunshen wouldn’t be back, sat idly in the house flipping through a medical book.

She also took out some herbs like rosemary from her storage space, planning to make sachets with Xu Cuihua that afternoon.

She would probably be returning to Beijing soon. It was best to keep her promises and get things done early.

Time flew. It had already been half a month since her argument with He Yunshen. Still, he came back every night to sleep.

As the top soldier in the army, if He Yunshen didn’t want Ning Wanwan to notice, no one would ever find out about his late-night returns.

Meanwhile, Ning Wanwan’s legs had recovered astonishingly well. She no longer needed the wheelchair and could walk short distances with a cane.

At 10 p.m., the world was silent. The lights in her room had long since gone out.

Just like always, He Yunshen scaled the courtyard wall with agility and quietly opened the door.

Suddenly, there was a scream—“Ah!”—and a cane came swinging straight for his head.

He hadn’t expected to be caught off guard like this. He grabbed the cane mid-air just in time and saw a terrified Ning Wanwan stumbling backward.

“Ah! Help—Help!”

“Shh… Don’t scream, it’s me,” he said as he reached out and pulled her small figure into his arms.

Only then did she calm down, though her soft chest was pressed tightly against his, and her heart pounded wildly.

Tears welled up in her eyes, her lips trembled, and she looked utterly wronged. Her little fists beat angrily against his chest.

“Wuu wuu wuu… You scared me to death, He Yunshen! You bastard! How could you leave me alone in this house?”

“You don’t even know how scared I was…”
