Chapter 35: A Wild and Reckless Night!
Ning Wanwan blinked her dazed, wide eyes and giggled foolishly at the sight of He Yunshen’s anxious face.
“Hehe, I’m not in pain, I don’t want to go to the hospital…”
Then, resting her head on her hand, she looked at the man before her with a lovestruck expression.
“He Yunshen, you’re so handsome…”
He Yunshen gave a faint smile, deliberately trying to tease her. His gaze turned flirtatious as he leaned down closer to Ning Wanwan.
“What’s the use of being handsome if I still couldn’t manage to win you over?”
His slightly intoxicated eyes sparkled with amusement. He hadn’t expected the usually proud and reserved Ning Wanwan to become so adorable when drunk.
Ning Wanwan playfully shut her eyes, let out a tiny hiccup, then raised one slender finger and waved it in front of He Yunshen.
“Nonsense! Who said you didn’t win me over? Actually… I think about… pushing you down every day, but… but I’m scared…”
He Yunshen’s gaze grew serious as he studied her, his tone probing.
“What are you afraid of?”
Hearing that, the little drunk woman quickly covered her mouth and shook her head hard with her eyes tightly closed.
“No… can’t say… if I say it, they’ll take me away for research…”
“Hic… hehe… how about this—if you let me kiss you, I’ll tell you a story…”
He Yunshen naturally welcomed this request—it was just what he wanted. Though it felt a bit like taking advantage, he couldn’t stop himself from leaning in and kissing her.
Ning Wanwan was startled by the kiss. She gave He Yunshen’s chest a few flustered shoves with her little fists, but soon melted into his deep, affectionate kiss. Her slender arms slowly wrapped around his neck on their own.
Their kiss deepened, growing more passionate, and He Yunshen ended up tugging her sweater dress out of place.
His breath enveloped her, overwhelming and intense. For a fleeting moment, Ning Wanwan seemed to regain clarity—but she was quickly swept up again, allowing him to lead her into the house.
Inside the room, Ning Wanwan’s cheeks were flushed red, her long hair splayed across the bed.
He Yunshen fought to restrain himself. He held her wrists down, his eyes locked on her beautiful face.
“Ning Wanwan, do you know who I am? Do you… understand what’s about to happen?”
Before he could finish, Ning Wanwan suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and silenced him with a firm kiss.
“So noisy…” she muttered with a pout.
The atmosphere in the room grew more and more heated. Then, with a sharp tearing sound, Ning Wanwan’s sweater dress fell to the floor.
Moonlight streamed in like water, bathing the room in sensuality. Only soft moans and gasps lingered in the air, inviting endless imagination.
By dawn, the sky had lightened to a pale grey. The military compound was brightly lit, soldiers were in full gear, ready to deploy.
A military jeep screeched to a halt outside the courtyard gate. He Yunshen’s eyes suddenly snapped open. He pulled the blanket up tightly over Ning Wanwan, covering her properly.
He quickly got dressed, then leaned down to kiss her softly on the cheek.
His eyes were deep with emotion—reluctant to part, filled with affection. Then, as quietly as he could, he slipped out the door.
Outside, Xiao Song paced anxiously. When he saw He Yunshen emerge, he rushed forward.
“What’s going on?”
“Commander He, there’s an emergency—get in the car, quick!”
Ning Wanwan woke up at 10 a.m. Her whole body ached, her face scrunched in discomfort as memories of last night’s chaos flooded back.
But aside from the soreness… she also kind of enjoyed it.
Though she had been drunk, there was no denying that He Yunshen was incredibly attractive. To say she felt nothing would be a blatant lie.
And with Zhang Yun and the others’ “unintentional help,” she figured—since they were getting divorced today anyway, last night might as well be remembered as a ridiculous, beautiful dream.
As a modern woman of the 21st century, she could handle this like an adult.
Divorce today, pack her bags, and return to Beijing.
With that thought, she slowly climbed out of bed, wincing and supporting her sore back. She touched the spot where He Yunshen had lain—only to find it already cold. He was clearly long gone.
She looked down at the bruises and love bites across her chest. That damn man really is a beast, she thought. He didn’t hold back at all.
Getting dressed, she took out a cup of spiritual spring water from her space and drank it down.
As the fatigue quickly faded, Ning Wanwan began to wonder—where on earth did He Yunshen go?
They had agreed to finalize the divorce today. Knowing his personality, he would never stand her up without a good reason.
It must’ve been something urgent, she told herself repeatedly to stay calm.
She cooked a bowl of millet porridge and went back to packing her things.
During that time, Zhang Yun and Li Ping stopped by, bringing her some homemade goods.
“Wanwan, um… you and Commander He—was everything okay last night?” Li Ping and Zhang Yun exchanged glances, then hesitantly asked.
Ning Wanwan paused mid-sip of tea, then casually nodded.
“All good. Just drank a bit too much—headache, that’s all.”
She pouted slightly and gave the two women a teasing glare.
“You said that fruit wine wasn’t strong! I only had two bowls and I was so drunk I couldn’t tell east from west.”
Zhang Yun scratched her head awkwardly and laughed, her curiosity momentarily suppressed.
“Hehe, it’s my fault. I didn’t know your tolerance was that low.”
Ning Wanwan waved it off with a smile and asked, “By the way, when did Captain Qian and the others leave this morning? Commander He was supposed to go with me to process the paperwork, but he was already gone when I woke up.”
Li Ping bit into a snack and tilted her head, trying to recall.
“Think it was around four in the morning. They said something urgent came up, so they left in a rush.”
Ning Wanwan nodded. That lines up. She knew He Yunshen wouldn’t break a promise without reason.
Maybe he’ll be back later today.
But by evening, He Yunshen still hadn’t returned.
She made a simple bowl of noodles for dinner and then sat quietly in the courtyard, spacing out.
“He Yunshen, you dead man, where the hell did you go?!”
She pouted, crumpling the medical book in her hands.
Around 7 p.m., as mosquitoes started to swarm, she reluctantly went back indoors.
The next morning, Ning Wanwan got up early and went to He Yunshen’s bedroom, only to find the bed perfectly made—clearly untouched.
Now she really couldn’t sit still.
After breakfast, she went to Zhang Yun’s place to ask around. That’s when she learned Qian Aiguo and Chang Jun had returned home the previous night.
Zhang Yun and Li Ping were slightly surprised to hear that He Yunshen hadn’t come home.
Li Ping smiled and tried to reassure her.
“Don’t worry, Wanwan. Zhang Yun and I will help ask around tonight. I’m sure Commander He is fine.”
Ning Wanwan forced a smile.
“Sis, it’s not that I’m worried something happened to him… I’m worried he’s avoiding coming home on purpose…”
