Not very harmonious neighbors…… (1)
When Jiang Junnan’s phone was vibrating like crazy, he was dancing in a small bar in Lijiang.
It wasn’t until he came out of the dance floor that his friends reminded him that someone was calling him.
He took out his phone and saw that he had several missed calls.
“What happened?!”
Jiang Junnan hurriedly walked out of the bar, almost stumbling at the door. “What’s so urgent? Are you okay?”
Gu Xun’s cold voice came from the other end of the call.
“What did you say to Yue Qianling?”
“Huh?”
Jiang Junnan didn’t react for a moment. “I didn’t say anything to her. I’m not familiar with her.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he suddenly froze, his steps halted at the doorway. “Oh…… you mean the elevator incident. You know about it?”
On the other end of the phone, Gu Xun closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
So there was such a thing.
He had just asked Yue Qianling about what his roommate said, but Yue Qianling obviously didn’t want to bring it up and only mentioned, “He is very annoyed with me,” then quickly changed the subject.
After finishing the game, he came straight to Jiang Junnan to ask.
Jiang Junnan was the only roommate who had contact with Yue Qianling.
“The day I went down to get takeout, I asked you why you rejected Yue Qianling, and you said you were annoyed by her. My phone’s speaker isn’t very sensitive, so it accidentally played out, and she heard it. Let me tell you, I definitely didn’t do it on purpose. I—”
“Brother.”
Gu Xun suddenly interrupted Jiang Junnan.
Jiang Junnan: “Huh?”
Gu Xun: “Your birthday is next Thursday, right?”
Jiang Junnan suddenly felt a bit moved. He didn’t expect Gu Xun to remember his birthday.
“Ah, what’s up? Are you going to celebrate my birthday?”
“Change your flight ticket. Don’t come back to Jiangcheng until after your birthday..”
Gu Xun said coldly, “Otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll be stuck at 21 forever.”
Jiang Junnan: “……”
After hanging up Jiang Junnan’s call, Gu Xun felt more and more ridiculous.
He suddenly stood up, walked out of his apartment, stood at Yue Qianling’s door, and rang the doorbell.
No one answered, so he pressed it a second time, but no one still came to the door.
The hallway was chilling, and the doorbell sound was not answered.
Resisting the urge to whip Jiang Junnan eight hundred times, Gu Xun extended his hand once again to ring the doorbell.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
It was an unknown caller.
Gu Xun glanced at Yue Qianling’s door and then answered the call.
A strange female voice came from the other end.
“Hi, are you asleep?”
Gu Xun frowned, “Who is this?”
“Um, don’t you remember me? We met at the coffee shop last week, and we were sitting opposite each other at the time.”
Upon hearing this, a nameless fire suddenly rose to the top of his head.
He had a very deep impression of this woman.
When she approached him at the coffee shop, it seemed normal at first, just asking for his WeChat, but Gu Xun declined. She then smiled and said that she would definitely find him.
As a result, Gu Xun received a friend request from a stranger the next night.
After rejecting it, a phone call came directly.
It was the same smiling voice, saying, “Hi, are you asleep?”
With a background in computer science, Gu Xun knew exactly how this woman had obtained his contact information through illegal means.
But he didn’t want to engage with her much at that time, so he simply blocked the number.
Unexpectedly, she had called him again just a few days later, this time with a different number.
He tilted his head, his face reflected in the dim light, and said coldly, “Are you sick? Don’t you know self-respect or dignity? Is there any point in pestering me?”
He took a deep breath and suppressed his anger before continuing, “Next time you call, I won’t waste my breath with you and just call the police directly.”
After saying that, he promptly hung up.
However, before his finger left the screen, he sensed a gaze fall on him.
Turning his head slowly, he unexpectedly met eyes with Yue Qianling, who was standing at the elevator entrance.
“……”
“……”
With his hand still in his pocket, he tilted his head to look over, the bright light sharply illuminated his profile. He stared blankly at Yue Qianling, not saying anything.
At that moment, Gu Xun was actually asking himself if he had done something wrong in his previous life, otherwise, why did the whole world seem to be tripping him up?
But Yue Qianling was just staring straight at him, not hiding her emotions.
She had gone downstairs to throw away the trash, and as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she bumped into this scene.
It was like when she was rejected, his expression was also so impatient.
With sourness filling her heart, Yue Qianling tightly pressed her lips, trying not to look at him. She walked straight to her door and reached out to press the combination lock.
Just as she was about to open the door, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Yue Qianling froze in place, staring at his hand motionlessly. Her heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.
The warmth of his palm wasn’t high, but Yue Qianling felt as if there was fire burning on her skin.
The intimate physical contact she had once hoped for came a bit late, but she still felt an electrifying sensation.
Gu Xun didn’t think his current behavior was out of bounds. Looking at Yue Qianling, he said, “Let’s talk first.”
Yue Qianling nodded, “Then you let go first.”
“Okay.”
Gu Xun stared at her eyes intently, and when he saw that her emotions weren’t particularly resistant, he released his grip.
But in the next second, Yue Qianling darted into her house as fast as lightning and slammed the door with a “bang.”
Then she opened the peephole, revealing a pair of eyes. She blinked and said, “What do we have to talk about? Don’t forget, we’re just colleagues with little interaction and, um—”
She paused to find the right words, “Not very harmonious neighbors.”
Not very harmonious neighbors?
Gu Xun had never been so angry so many times in a day. He even found it a bit amusing in his confusion.
He looked at Yue Qianling’s big, sparkling eyes, suddenly feeling restless. With his tongue against his cheek, he nodded several times. He turned around and gave Yue Qianling a thumbs up.
“Yue Qianling, you’re amazing.”
After Gu Xun left.
Yue Qianling turned around and leaned against the door, taking a long sigh of relief.
The living room was dark, with only a faint ray of light in the room. In the dim and hazy vision, she lowered her head to look at her wrist.
Even though he didn’t use much force, her skin still seemed to retain his touch.
Yue Qianling didn’t know what he was thinking. She stretched out her other hand and slapped her wrist angrily.
Gu Xun, are you sick?
The next day was Friday.
Gu Xun’s cold aura was visible to the naked eye, and it spread to the testing team, causing everyone to be too embarrassed to take a break. They worked diligently all morning until they could finally rest.
Yi Hong couldn’t stand it anymore. He typed the code for a while, then suddenly turned to Gu Xun and said, “Why don’t you go to the lounge for a while? Give us some breathing space?”
Gu Xun tilted his head and looked over, raising his eyebrows, “Can’t you see that I’m busy?”
“Can you do it for my sake?” Yi Hong clasped his hands together and begged, “The External Relations Department just set up the Starry Sky’s Infinite War in the lounge today. Why don’t you go play for a while? If that doesn’t work, go take a look at the scenery.”
Gu Xun wasn’t particularly interested in the VR gaming equipment brought in by the External Relations Department. It wasn’t competitive enough and was too entertaining for his taste. However, he did feel like grabbing a cup of coffee to relax his mind.
When he walked to the lounge, he could already hear the unusual liveliness even before he stepped inside.
When Gu Xun looked inside, his gaze suddenly froze.
The new VR gaming equipment brought in by the External Relations Department was right in the middle, and Yue Qianling, wearing the VR glasses, was playing the Resident Evil game that was installed.
She was so immersed in that world that she was oblivious to the fact that there were many people watching around her. She danced, jumped, and sometimes crouched down to avoid being shot.
When a boss charged toward her, she screamed and began punching and kicking, so hard that made it seem like she had forgotten that she was in a virtual world.
Suddenly, a man stood in front of Gu Xun, blocking his view.
Gu Xun looked at his back unhappily, then found a better position with a better view.
Yue Qianling continued to fight the boss. She was wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. Her calves were slender but not without muscle tone, and her legs were constantly kicking and stomping. After a while, the boss turned around and ran away.
But Yue Qianling kept pursuing it, picking up a zombie’s head and throwing it at the boss.
“Come back here!”
She then picked up a gun and shouted, “Come on! Let’s have a showdown!”
Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and she couldn’t see where the boss had gone, and as she was looking for it, it suddenly jumped out from under her feet, scaring her so much that she crouched down and started hammering it.
Gu Xun leaned against a nearby pillar, unable to take his eyes off her.
A few days ago, he still had a sense of unreality, unable to understand his own feelings and only relying on his subconscious to drive his actions.
But now, the living girl in front of him was blending in with the image he had imagined in his mind frame by frame.
Gu Xun considered himself a sensory animal, not a visual one.
But at this moment, he seemed to clearly see how his vision and feelings were seamlessly integrated.
All of his senses were flooded with a sense of fullness that he had never felt before. like cotton expanding rapidly in his chest. It was light and intangible, yet it had a lingering presence that tickled every one of his sensory cells.
Gu Xun stared at Yue Qianling, and he couldn’t help but remember many things from the past.
Including the image of her pretending to be a lady in front of him.
At that time, he found it annoying.
But now, it inexplicably felt…
He looked down and smiled.
It felt very cute.
When looked up again, the game had already ended.
Yue Qianling stopped, panting heavily.
When others play VR games, they typically only move their hands, but she was the only one who punched and kicked, so she sweated a lot on her forehead.
Seeing her take off the VR glasses, Gu Xun raised his head and walked towards her.
However, when he was only a few steps away, he suddenly saw a man walk over and stand in front of Yue Qianling. He put his hands around her head and helped her take off the glasses.
“……?”
Gu Xun narrowed his eyes.
