Tonight? Not free?! (2)
Gu Xun hadn’t finished his work yet, and he had only come downstairs to grab something to eat.
But as soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw Yue Qianling’s hesitant figure.
She held a blue umbrella, and her other hand reached out to catch the raindrops.
After retracting her hand, she seemed to be even more hesitant.
This sudden downpour reminded Gu Xun of the day she confessed to him.
After concentrating for a moment, he returned to the elevator and pressed the button for the basement.
A few minutes later.
Seeing that the rain showed no signs of letting up, Yue Qianling had no choice but to take a taxi.
As she took out her phone, she heard someone calling her.
The rain was too loud, and it blurred the person’s voice, making Yue Qianling feel that it wasn’t real.
It wasn’t until she looked up and saw a familiar car stopping in front of her.
Gu Xun lowered the car window, tilting his head to look at her.
“It’s raining so hard, I’ll give you a ride.”
Through the curtain of rain, Yue Qianling couldn’t see his expression clearly but still hesitated for a moment.
In fact, she knew that if it were another girl, Gu Xun would do the same.
For him, it was just a small gesture.
But if she got used to such things, she might end up trapping herself again.
So, she opened her mouth to say “no”, but Gu Xun spoke first.
“Hurry up, I can’t park here.”
Yue Qianling lowered her eyes and exhaled softly.
Although she told herself to act as if nothing had happened that day, it was really hard to do.
She was really afraid that she might not be able to resist falling again.
Just then, another car pulled up behind them and honked twice.
The next second, Ren Tianyi’s voice rang out.
“Yue Qianling?! Hurry, come and get in the car, I’ll give you a ride!”
Ren Tianyi’s appearance was very timely.
The slight hesitation in Yue Qianling’s heart vanished in an instant, and she nodded immediately, “Thank you.”
So, under Gu Xun’s gaze, she walked towards the back and got into Ren Tianyi’s car.
Upon hearing the car door slam shut, Gu Xun’s face became even darker than the sky.
Meanwhile, Ren Tianyi had already smoothly turned on the turn signal and maneuvered around Gu Xun, driving the car away.
“Where do you live?”
Ren Tianyi asked.
When he asked this question, his car was next to Gu Xun’s car.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Yue Qianling glanced out of the corner of her eye and caught a glimpse of Gu Xun’s dark expression.
What’s he angry about?
Yue Qianling frowned and said softly, “I’m not going home right now. I’m going to Wanda Plaza. Is that on your way? If not, I can get off at the subway station.”
Ren Tianyi nodded: “It’s definitely on the way.”

That night, Gu Xun didn’t stay in the company but took the work back home.
For three hours, he sat at his desk, fixing all the bugs that Yi Hong had asked him to address.
With nothing else to do at this moment, he stared at the screen for a while, then suddenly closed the computer, got up, and walked towards Yue Qianling’s apartment unit.
After ringing the doorbell several times, no one answered, not even the sound of movement.
So, he went downstairs to check the garbage disposal area but still found no one.
Returning upstairs, Gu Xun didn’t enter his apartment but lingered in the hallway for a while.
After holding back for a long time, he still couldn’t resist taking out his phone and sending a message to Yue Qianling.
【Is it illegal to be bad at something, sir】: You there?
After a while, the other side replied.
【Cilantro connoisseur who loves chili】: ?
【Is it illegal to be bad at something, sir】: Log in.
【Cilantro connoisseur who loves chili】: Not coming, not free tonight.
Tonight?
Not free?!
Gu Xun turned around and went back home, slamming the door shut heavily.
But still, he had to be damn careful when typing.
【Is it illegal to be bad at something, sir】: Are you working overtime?
【Cilantro connoisseur who loves chili】: No, just having dinner, and then we’re going to watch a movie later.
Gu Xun: “……”
Fine.
He had spoken so much today, but it was all for nothing. She still ended up being coaxed around by Ren Tianyi.
【Is it illegal to be bad at something, sir】: Go home early.
【Is it illegal to be bad at something, sir】: There’s going to be a rainstorm in Jiangcheng tonight.
【Cilantro connoisseur who loves chili】: Hey, you seem quite human today.
【Cilantro connoisseur who loves chili】: But it doesn’t matter, tomorrow is the weekend, so I don’t have to go home tonight.
Gu Xun: “?”
Suddenly, he felt the veins in his temple throbbing, and a rush of air went straight to his throat.
He went back to his room, intending to sleep.
But after a while, he came out again, sat on the sofa closest to the door, picked up a book, and looked at it quietly.
Whenever he was calm, his expression was particularly focused, almost as if the words “no distractions” were written on his face.
But whenever footsteps echoed in the hallway, he became especially sensitive, putting down the book and getting up to open the door.
But every time, it was not Yue Qianling who passed by.
After opening the door five or six times, Gu Xun felt that he might be sick.
He checked the time again.
Eleven o’clock.
Very good.
He sighed and walked to the balcony.
He originally wanted to enjoy the breeze, but when he casually glanced down, he saw Yue Qianling walking over, talking on the phone and skipping happily.
She looked really happy.
Gu Xun’s face became more and more gloomy as he stared at her figure until she disappeared from view after entering the building. Only then did he turn around.
However, as he pushed open the door, Gu Xun suddenly thought of something. He bent down to pick up the half bag of trash on the floor.
When he walked to the elevator, he saw Yue Qianling coming up.
At the moment their eyes met, Yue Qianling’s smile at the corner of her mouth hadn’t had the time to retract.
Looking at that faint smile on her lips, Gu Xun felt increasingly angry.
“Coming home so late—”
The more upset he was, the slower his tone became, “Is it that fun?”
The quiet hallway magnified Gu Xun’s presence tenfold. Under the lights, the outline of his brows and eyes became more and more profound, and when he looked at Yue Qianling deeply, it was really easy to make people fascinated.
After a moment, Yue Qianling turned her face away and walked towards her door.
“It’s not bad.”
Gu Xun didn’t say anything and went directly into the elevator.
But as they brushed past each other, Yue Qianling felt a chill in the air.
She paused for a moment before she raised her hand, then entered the password and unlocked the door.
While changing her shoes, messages from Yin Xue kept coming in.
【Yin Xue】: Fuck. I’ve never seen such a shitty movie, seriously. I just recommended it to Fang Qingqing.
【Yin Xue】: I can’t be the only one suffering from such an eyesore and be speechless.
【Yin Xue】: Really, how can a movie be so bad that it’s funny?!
【Yin Xue】: Even a dung beetle will be in shock if it pried open the director’s head!
Yue Qianling recalled the content of the movie they watched today, and the more she thought about it, the funnier it became.
She shuffled in her slippers and walked towards the bedroom.
Just after replying to Yin Xue’s messages, she received a link from another person.
【School Grass】: [Link shared]: “Top Ten Characteristics of the Sea King[1]a ‘player’ who professes to want a loyal relationship but has multiple hidden relationships with other women., Girls, Open Your Eyes and See Clearly!”
Yue Qianling frowned.
What the hell is this?
