Lin Xun (2)
That night, Yue Qianling stared at the ceiling, unwilling to close her eyes.
It wasn’t until the medicine took effect that she couldn’t resist the drowsiness and fell asleep in a daze.
She slept until two in the afternoon.
The sun outside had already reached the side of her bed when she opened her eyes, and it took a while for her consciousness to fully return.
The air-conditioning sickness comes and goes quickly. After taking medicine and sleeping for a night, she was indeed fine, except for a bit of hunger.
Yue Qianling got up and left the room. When she passed through the living room, she saw the two boxes of medicine on the table, along with the small receipt she had crumpled.
The mystery that troubled her throughout the night came back to haunt her again.
Yue Qianling froze in place, absentmindedly looking at the front door.
It was as if her gaze could penetrate through the wall and see the person living across from her.
After a while, Yue Qianling suddenly shook her head.
No way.
How could that be possible?
Absolutely not.
She picked up the medicine and put it away in an opaque cabinet.

However, Yue Qianling still felt somewhat absent-minded while she was cleaning that afternoon.
Even though she told herself a thousand times it was impossible, she would still suspect it a thousand and one times.
By 6:30, Huang Jie called her.
“Qianling, where are you?”
Huang Jie’s voice brought Yue Qianling back to reality. She got up, walked to the balcony to enjoy the wind, and said, “At home, what’s wrong?”
“You’re still at home?”
Huang Jie’s voice suddenly rose, “Did you forget today is my birthday?!”
Yue Qianling: “???”
She suddenly scratched her head.
She really forgot!
“No, no!” Yue Qianling hurriedly explained, “I have something at home. I’ll be there right away!”
“Hurry up! Three shots for being late!”
Yue Qianling didn’t have time to think about anything else, so she quickly grabbed the gift she had prepared a long time ago and hurried out the door.
But while waiting for the elevator, she couldn’t help but look back at Gu Xun’s door.
This…
Absolutely! Impossible!
***
Huang Jie had been reminding her of her birthday as early as a month ago.
She had a good personality and great popularity, and her friends and colleagues filled two large tables.
The group ate until 9:00 pm, and then Huang Jie took everyone to the KTV she had booked.
Yue Qianling was not antisocial, so she sang, drank, and played games with everyone else. She didn’t have the mind to think about those things.
But around 10:00 pm, many people started feeling tired. They didn’t say they wanted to leave, but they just nested on the sofa and played with their phones.
At this time, someone suddenly opened the door of their private room.
Yue Qianling looked over and saw that it was Ren Tianyi and a colleague invited by Huang Jie walking in.
Huang Jie, who was singing, suddenly stopped and turned to look.
“Manager Ren?”
Ren Tianyi first glanced at Yue Qianling, who was sitting at the edge of the room, and then walked over to Huang Jie.
“I’m here tonight too. I just ran into Wang En outside, heard it was your birthday, so I came over to toast you.”
Huang Jie quickly put down the microphone, bent down to pick up the wine bottle, and poured two glasses.
“No need to be so polite, Manager Ren. Just come and have fun. Why are you toasting?”
Huang Jie had drunk quite a bit tonight and shoved the wine glass to Ren Tianyi, then tilted her head back to finish her own.
Ren Tianyi chatted with her for a while before turning to walk over to the sofa.
It just so happened that the person who was originally sitting next to Yue Qianling went to request a song, so Ren Tianyi took the opportunity to sit down.
Yue Qianling turned to the side and smiled at him.
“Good evening, Manager Ren.”
“Don’t keep calling me manager, it makes me look like I’m being bureaucratic. I’m not that big of a leader.”
Ren Tianyi rubbed his neck and said casually, “Just call me Brother Tianyi.”
Although Yue Qianling nodded, she didn’t say anything.
She lowered her eyes and looked at her phone, lost in thought again.
Shortly after, Huang Jie suddenly stood on a chair, holding up her phone, and said, “Let’s take a group photo!”
Naturally, no one refused at his moment.
Yue Qianling glanced in the direction of the camera and made a peace sign.
Then she felt Ren Tianyi leaning towards her.
Although it was a very normal pose for a group photo, Yue Qianling felt a little uncomfortable.
She furrowed her brows, and Huang Jie happened to press the shutter at that moment.
After the group photo session, everyone started singing again.
Yue Qianling lowered her head, her fingertips were fiddling with her phone, and her thoughts began to wander again.
Not long after, Yue Qianling checked her Moments and saw that Huang Jie had already posted the group photo.
Although the lighting wasn’t good, Huang Jie had enabled the night mode, so everyone’s faces in the photo were very clear.
Perhaps it was because she had drunk a little, Yue Qianling felt a surge of temptation in her heart.
After a brief thought, she saved the photo Huang Jie had posted and then posted it on her own Moments.
After that, she just silently stared at her phone.
One minute…
Two minutes…
Five minutes…
Twenty minutes passed, and there was no movement.
Yue Qianling let out a sigh of relief, thinking that she had indeed overthought it.
The tension in her body suddenly dissipated, and her shoulders relaxed.
The next second, her phone vibrated suddenly.
Yue Qianling’s heart once again hung in her throat.
She slowly unlocked the screen, saw the popped-up chat box and her heart skipped a beat.
【School Grass】: Logging in?
Yue Qianling found that her fingertips were trembling a little.
So much so that she pressed the wrong key several times.
【Glutinous Rice Twist】: No, plaiyng outside.
【School Grass】: It’s so late, and you’re still outside?
【Glutinous Rice Twist】: Yeah, drikning.
【Glutinous Rice Twist】: I’m drunk, and my heas is killinf ne.
【School Grass】: Where are you drinking?
【Glutinous Rice Twist】: Don’t know, something Taipei Jin.
There was no more reply from the other side.
And Yue Qianling stared at this chat box for a long time, unable to return to her senses.
Time suddenly slowed down.
The noises in the private room gradually faded away from her.
Even the time for a single song was broken down into seconds.
Yue Qianling fell into a sense of confusion she had never experienced before, and she didn’t even know where she was.
She just stared blankly at her phone, and even after the screen turned black, she didn’t move her gaze.
After who knows how long, many people in the private room had left one after another.
Huang Jie finished singing the last song, picked up her bag, and said, “Let’s go home!”
Everyone around got up, and Yue Qianling also stood up with everyone.
She clutched her phone tightly, and her thoughts still couldn’t settle.
Even when she was leaving the private room, she still subconsciously looked around.
“What are you looking for?”
Ren Tianyi suddenly said, “You still have friends who haven’t come out?”
“No, I’m just looking around.”
After leaving the KTV, everyone was waiting for a taxi at the entrance.
The night wind blew in her face, and Yue Qianling suddenly became clear-headed.
How could that be possible?
She was definitely overthinking it.
Where in the world could there be such a coincidence?
She took a deep breath and stepped down the steps.
However, Yue Qianling didn’t notice that a drunkard had broken a bottle of wine there. She stepped on the glass shards, and she slid and fell sideways.
Fortunately, Ren Tianyi caught her in time.
Although she didn’t fall, her ankle was still sprained.
A sharp stabbing pain suddenly hit Yue Qianling. She hissed and immediately squatted down.
“Are you okay?”
Ren Tianyi quickly grabbed her arm. “You twisted your foot? Can you still walk?”
“It’s fine.”
Yue Qianling pulled away from Ren Tianyi’s hand and rubbed her own ankle.
Although it hurt a lot when she sprained her ankle, it wasn’t very serious. After a while, there was only a slight soreness.
When Yue Qianling stood up, Huang Jie had already waved down a taxi. She pulled open the car door, turned around, and said, “I’ll leave with my roommate first! Let me know when you guys get home!”
“Hmm.”
Yue Qianling waved to her, “Happy birthday!”
Huang Jie blew a flying kiss and then closed the car door.
As soon as the taxi drove, Ren Tianyi said, “Can you still walk? My car is over there, and the chauffeur will be here soon. I’ll give you a ride.”
“It’s fine, I’ll just hail a cab.”
Yue Qianling moved her ankle and found that it was completely fine, so she walked to the side of the road.
However, Ren Tianyi reached out and grabbed her. “That won’t do. I’m not at ease letting you take a taxi by yourself. Let me take you.”
Yue Qianling was feeling a little agitated at the moment and only wanted to be alone to calm down, so she pulled her hand away a little impatiently.
“No need, my home is not far from here.”
“What are you being polite for?”
Ren Tianyi went to pull her again. “We’re colleagues, it’s only right to give you a ride.”
Feeling him grab her hand, Yue Qianling felt very uncomfortable.
Just as she was about to explode, suddenly, another person’s warmth enveloped her wrist.
Next, she was pulled away from Ren Tianyi’s entanglement.
“Manager Ren, please stop while it’s appropriate.”
Hearing this familiar voice, Yue Qianling felt as if her entire body had been electrified. The air around her was sucked dry, and even the sound in her ears became intermittent, with only a buzzing sound that came from nowhere filling her entire brain.
She slowly raised her head.
Gu Xun was standing beside her, holding her wrist tightly, and glaring at Ren Tianyi.
His grip was strong, but Yue Qianling didn’t feel any pain.
All of her senses were concentrated on her eyes at this moment.
She kept staring at Gu Xun’s profile in a daze.
At the same time, a friend of Huang Jie who hadn’t left yet turned around and saw this scene, feeling a little strange.
“What are you guys doing?”
Ren Tianyi probably felt a bit embarassed by the stalemate, so he took a step back and said with a smile, “Since someone came to pick you up, I can rest assured. I’ll go first.”
Seeing him turn around, Gu Xun’s tightly pursed lips finally relaxed.
He turned around, and the sharpness in his brows and eyes was rubbed away by the wind and disappeared.
“Drunk?”
Yue Qianling just stared at him, not saying anything.
The neon lights of the street shone on his face, making him somewhat unreal.
The evening breeze brushed through, carrying the fragrance of the shower gel on Gu Xun’s body.
He seemed to have come in a hurry as he was panting, and his chest was not calm.
And the warmth that belonged to him was also continuously coming from Yue Qianling’s wrist.
This was all real.
Yue Qianling suddenly felt her breathing become a little unsmooth.
She opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say.
Gu Xun thought she was drunk, so he didn’t reduce his grip on her hand and pulled her towards another side.

“Aren’t you a bit too naïve? How could you actually go out to drink with him at night?”Top of Form
Perhaps it was his voice that was so close to her that gave Yue Qianling the final blow.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Gu Xun felt that she stopped moving, so he turned around and asked, “Can’t walk anymore?”
“You… how did you come here?”
Yue Qianling finally spoke.
However, before Gu Xun could answer, she spoke once more and said one word at a time, with conviction.
“Lin Xun?”
