Chapter 45
The silver ring snake was flicking its tongue and facing off against Zhan Xinyue, as if it would lunge at her and bite her in the next second.
This snake was small, but it was the most venomous snake on land. If it weren’t for the fact that it didn’t release much venom at once, its lethality would definitely be above that of the king cobra.
Zhan Xinyue knew that if she were bitten by this snake, she would definitely die here today. After all, this time, there was no Sheng Tunan descending from the sky.
“No, I can’t die.” Zhan Xinyue muttered. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. She kept her posture still, her hand gripping the sickle tightly.
She couldn’t die. In her previous life, Zhan Xinyue felt like she had been living in a daze most of the time.
It was as if she was a cannon fodder character in a book, with invisible hands controlling her. Many of her actions were following a script, otherwise, she wouldn’t have lived with Li Jian and Liu Ruyuan for so long without noticing anything wrong with them.
After all, the two of them didn’t shy away from their relationship at all, they often acted affectionately in front of her.
It wasn’t until the end that Zhan Xinyue seemed to have a brief awakening and finally dealt with Li Jian’s family.
But she hadn’t fully awakened. Thinking back now, there were many bugs in her previous life. For example, she was quite good at traditional Chinese medicine, and the poison that Jin Yan and Shen Xing used was just the most common kind, she should have been able to smell it. But in her previous life, she hadn’t noticed, she even drank the poison regularly, and her tongue seemed to have lost its sense of taste. She was a genius in traditional Chinese medicine, yet she hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
After being reborn, Zhan Xinyue felt that life was her own. Everything she did was according to her own will. She could clearly feel her thoughts, her happiness, and her emotions.
Like now, Zhan Xinyue had a strong desire to live. She missed Sheng Tunan, she wanted to live happily with him and her grandmother, and she also wanted to have a baby of her own with Sheng Tunan.
“I can’t die, don’t be afraid, it’s just a small silver ring snake. Zhan Xinyue, you know kung fu, don’t be afraid of a snake that hurt you when you were five.”
Zhan Xinyue encouraged herself in her heart, psychologically suggesting that her fear now was simply because she had been bitten when she was five. She knew kung fu now, she could definitely take down this small silver ring snake easily.
Just then, the silver ring snake launched its attack. The small snake leaped into the air and flew towards Zhan Xinyue.
“Sss,” the memory of being bitten came back again. Zhan Xinyue gritted her teeth, controlling her trembling body, and raised her sickle to meet the attack. But she was too scared. Once bitten by a snake, you’re afraid of a rope for ten years. That wasn’t just a saying, Zhan Xinyue assumed a defensive posture, but she didn’t have the strength to swing the sickle.
“Watch out.” Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out. The next second, Zhan Xinyue fell into a warm and strong embrace.
Sheng Tunan descended from the sky again. He held Zhan Xinyue in one arm and grabbed the silver ring snake’s vital spot with the other, squeezing hard. The snake’s heart burst, its tail twitched weakly, and it went to the underworld.
“Xinyue, don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, I’ve killed the snake.” Sheng Tunan threw the snake to the ground and stepped on it. He wrapped his arms around Zhan Xinyue, who was still trembling, and gently patted her back, soothing her in a soft voice, “Xinyue, Xinyue, you’re back.”
“The sun rises in the east, the fields and mountains are fragrant with rice flowers, Xinyue, Xinyue, you’re back.”
“Puchi,” Zhan Xinyue came to her senses in Sheng Tunan’s arms, her fear vanished. She laughed, “I didn’t lose my soul.”
