After saying goodbye to Sister Min, Su You entered full-on shopping mode.
She first ordered a spacious SUV rental on her phone, planning to visit a large chain supermarket nearby.
Although online shopping with home delivery was available, the sight of shelves packed with goods, and the freedom of tossing whatever she liked into a cart, still made Su You’s heart itch with excitement.
This chain supermarket had three floors, covering over 20,000 square meters, with a full range of products, bulk discounts, and hardly inferior to a warehouse-style superstore.
She immediately pushed a large shopping cart and headed to the food section, beginning her frenzy.
Drinks: Cola, Sprite, various fruit juices, sparkling water—10 packs of each.
Dairy: Pure milk, oat milk, lactic acid drinks—10 packs each; all flavors of yogurt—10 packs each.
Instant foods: Instant noodles, ramen, hot-dry noodles, spicy vermicelli, self-heating hotpots, sausages—10 boxes of each.
Snacks naturally couldn’t be left behind.
Her favorites—original potato chips, barbecue-flavored chips, cheese toast, probiotic mini snacks, meat floss cakes, creamy buns, etc.—10 boxes each, along with chocolates and candies of all flavors.
By the time she loaded all this, Su You’s big cart was already full, piled to the brim.
Just as she was thinking of checking out first before returning to buy more, the supermarket manager noticed her overflowing cart and came over with a smile.
“This lady, it looks like you’ve bought quite a lot. Do you need any assistance?”
Perfect timing—Su You agreed right away.
With a wave of the manager’s hand, someone immediately took over her cart.
The manager added, “Is this a company purchase? We have a special channel for bulk buyers, and can provide dedicated service.”
Su You’s eyes lit up at that.
But she kept her expression calm and nodded. “Alright, let me speak with that channel.”
She was then invited into a VIP conference room, where a professional young saleswoman handed her a slim 13-inch tablet.
“Miss, you can place orders directly on the screen. We’ll also give you very favorable discounts.”
Su You took the tablet, glanced over, and quickly figured it out.
Browsing through the categories, she realized that her earlier purchases were all instinctively focused on instant foods.
In the apocalypse, instant foods were the most convenient—high in calories and satiety. Instant noodles, bread, chocolates, candies, sausages… all were survivors’ favorites.
But now that she had her base space, she could easily stock up on meat, rice, and fresh produce. The space preserved everything indefinitely—she could, in theory, eat forever.
So she kept adding items:
The saleswoman assisting her was stunned. She had seen bulk orders, but never anyone buying this much of everything.
But she didn’t question it—after all, the more the customer bought, the higher her commission. She was more than happy for Su You to keep going.
Su You then moved on to winter supplies:
Top-quality down jackets (long and short), thermal underwear sets, waterproof winter boots, cashmere scarves, hats, slippers, socks, gloves, wool blankets, quilts, bed sheets, heating pads, electric heaters, electric blankets—all added in.
Considering energy issues, Su You also thought of coal and coal stoves. If there was no diesel or generators, the simplest heating methods might be the only way. Coal would require contacting a supplier separately, but it could be arranged.
After over an hour of shopping, her fingers were sore from tapping the tablet. One glance at her cart total—it was already in the seven figures. Only then did she stop.
“Please check out these for me first,” she said, handing the tablet back.
The saleswoman, though surprised, confirmed the order with her as per procedure.
Su You paid about 300,000 yuan, and provided the address of her suburban warehouse.
The saleswoman smoothly processed everything, then said, “My name is Yuan Li. If you have more large-scale purchases, please contact me. I’ll always give you the best discounts.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Su You replied, adding her on WeChat.
But Yuan Li’s words gave her a new idea. This kind of bulk shopping was time- and energy-consuming. If she could acquire the supermarket itself, with professionals handling procurement and supply chains, wouldn’t it save her endless trouble?
After all, with the apocalypse coming, she needed time to stockpile goods beyond supermarkets.
Su You thought about it. It wasn’t impossible.
With her system’s rebates, she could surely gather enough funds.
The key was space—whether her base could hold it all.
According to the system, her goal was to build a survival base. By her logic, such a base having a giant supermarket wasn’t unreasonable.
Sensing her thoughts, the system confirmed:
“Host, the base space can be upgraded. As long as you stockpile enough resources, the base will expand.”
Her eyes brightened.
To be safe, she went into the restroom to speak with the system privately.
“If I want to take over this mall, will space be an issue?”
“No.”
“What about hospitals, pharmacies, factories?”
“Rest assured, host. As resources accumulate, the base will level up, unlocking new functional zones. Space will never be a problem.”
As it spoke, a glowing blue panel appeared before her, showing the survival base at Lv2, with only the warehouse and a rest area unlocked. The rest remained dark.
Su You felt relieved.
She asked another question: “Can I overlap my suburban warehouse with the base warehouse, so deliveries go directly into the base space?”
The system replied satisfactorily:
“Yes, but the space overlap function requires Level 3 to unlock.”
That wasn’t a problem. As long as she kept filling the space with goods, she could reach Level 3.
Her current storage—everything moved into the base space, plus her old house worth over 100,000 yuan—had only pushed her to Lv2 and unlocked the rest area.
But she was looking forward to Lv3 and space folding very much.
