Doomsday Stockpiling: I Established a Global Survivor Base
Doomsday Stockpiling: I Established a Global Survivor Base Chapter 21 – Ambush and Counterattack

In recent days, Amber had been carrying large sums of money, frequently making deals on the black market, which inevitably drew the attention of underground gangs.

Even though he was extremely cautious—disguising his appearance and clothes each time, even separating the funds into different accounts—his movements still didn’t escape the eyes of those watching closely.

This time, he had just purchased a batch of new weapons and ammunition. But right after arranging for workers to unload the goods into the warehouse, a group of people followed right after.

This district was a chaotic mix of all sorts, full of gangs, with many areas controlled by different factions.

Amber, caught off guard, found himself cornered inside the warehouse.

The warehouse had an iron gate, but bullets—free as rain—poured in like a storm, riddling the door with holes until it looked like a sieve.

The power had already been cut, plunging the warehouse into complete darkness.

Amber realized a few unlucky workers lay nearby, blood pooling on the ground, snaking across the floor.

Running his hand across the ground, he cursed these greedy bastards under his breath and slipped into a more remote corner.

He had just sent Su You a message, but whether it would help, he didn’t know.

After about a minute, the gunfire outside suddenly stopped.

Amber heard voices outside. The gang leader was ordering his men to go in and clean up—

Leave the goods.
Don’t leave a single survivor.

The once-dead silent warehouse now echoed with approaching footsteps, heavy and deliberate.

The dull thud of Martin boots striking the floor seemed to merge with Amber’s heartbeat, tightening his nerves to the extreme.

Fueled by adrenaline, his hearing sharpened rapidly. He intended to judge their numbers and decide from which direction to break out based on the sound of their steps.

But unfortunately, this gang had mobilized nearly all their forces, sealing off the warehouse like an iron barrel. The door especially was already flooded with gunmen.

At that moment, a strong, unfamiliar hand suddenly gripped Amber’s shoulder.

In the darkness, his pupils shrank. Just as he raised his gun to spin around and fire, the figure behind him—almost as if anticipating his reaction—restrained his arm first.

A shot rang out!

Immediately after, a familiar, cool voice sounded close to his ear.

“Amber, it’s me!”

Amber’s heart leapt with both shock and joy—he realized the person behind him was Su You.

When had Sister You arrived? How had he not noticed?

Even with his doubts, he dared not speak, only following Su You’s guiding movements and slowly retreating with her.

After about twenty meters, Su You spoke.
“Alright, we’re safe now. Are you hurt?”

This time, she didn’t bother lowering her voice.

Amber shook his head.

What puzzled him was that these men were supposed to be entering any second now, yet all the sounds outside—the footsteps, everything—had vanished completely.

Su You spoke as though she wasn’t concerned about them at all.

She even switched on the overhead lights.

With a buzz, high-powered incandescent lamps lit up the space.

Amber realized they were still inside a warehouse, yet it wasn’t the same riddled structure from before.

The goods he’d bought were neatly stacked on the ground. Some crates even bore traces of the gang’s firefight—bullet holes scorched with ash where wood had burned.

The goods remained, but the sieve-like warehouse was gone!

Amber’s heart sank.

“Sister You, what’s going on? Weren’t you supposed to be out with the agent looking at yachts?”

Su You checked him carefully. Seeing that he wasn’t badly hurt—only pale-lipped with a few scrapes on his arm—she exhaled in relief.

She had past-life experience dealing with survivor gangs in the apocalypse. Groups like the mountaintop base were ruthless, killing for loot without blinking, taking money without delivering.

That was why she had prepared in advance—leaving overlapping spatial points at every trade location, using them as jump gates.

From the yacht dealer at the seaside to a city thousands of miles away, she could transfer instantly through the base’s spatial gates.

If not for the unfamiliar terrain, finding Amber in the dark among the crates would’ve taken her even less time.

She explained to him briefly.

“This is similar to the ability I used the other day when I pulled you into the dark space. I’ll explain it to you slowly later. But—”

Her tone shifted suddenly, a cold smile in her voice.

“Those who thought they could swallow our goods and money really do have a big appetite. But since they dared betray their employer’s shipment, they’ll have to pay the price.”

“Amber, can you still move?”

Amber immediately understood her meaning. His sharp eyes narrowed, and he gave a cold smile.
“Of course.”

His grudge—he’d repay with his own hands.

Under the dark night, the warehouse lights flickered back on.

A gang of gunmen pushed the door open, expecting easy pickings—only to be stunned.

It was like they’d seen a ghost.

The iron-sheet warehouse they had riddled with bullets was completely empty inside. Other than the scattered shell casings and a few corpses, nothing remained.

The small gang leader stared, dumbfounded, frozen with his gun in hand. He turned to a subordinate.
“You’re sure you saw them bring the goods here with your own eyes?”

The subordinate looked equally baffled.
“Yes! I saw the workers unload everything myself.”

He ran over, checking the bodies.
“Yes, chief. These are the men who carried the goods in.”

The leader kicked one of the corpses furiously.
“Then where’s the shipment? Don’t tell me it just disappeared into thin air!”

“Hell if I know… did it really fly away?”

The subordinate inspected again and frowned.
“No, chief, this isn’t right. I counted six people who went inside—including the man arranging the deal. He’s not dead, and he’s not here either.”

The small leader cursed, swinging the muzzle of his gun toward his man, his patience snapping.
“You swear you saw him come in? Now he’s not dead, not among the corpses—what then? You expect me to believe he turned into mincemeat under our barrage? Or what, that he flew out of our encirclement like Superman?”

Anyone sane knew neither was possible.

The gang had wasted bullets, stormed the warehouse—only to find empty air, not a single crate.

And this shipment had only been paid for with a deposit. The bulk of the balance hadn’t even been received.

Now, the goods were gone, the man was gone.

This deal had cost them their shirts.

The small leader began to suspect there was an inside traitor feeding false reports.

And the first suspect was the subordinate whose story sounded plausible on the surface, yet was riddled with contradictions.

The man himself realized how absurd his words sounded, but what could he say?

He had seen them enter—yet now both goods and people had vanished. Wasn’t this like seeing a ghost?

No matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn’t find a reason.

At that moment, the roar of motorcycles sounded at the door—followed by the screech of gunfire from afar.
