That slap not only stunned Hou Rui, but also gave the surrounding security guards a fright.

When they came back to their senses and saw Su You’s darkened face, one of them cautiously asked, “Boss Su, should we take him away?”

The next second, Su You quickly regained her composure and told them, “No need, you can leave.”

Hou Rui sat on the floor, his face burning from the heavy slap. He stared blankly at the woman’s emotionless face, and for the first time, he felt a flicker of fear.

How had Su You become like this?
He actually felt a moment of terror.

Stammering, his words incoherent, Hou Rui said, “I just heard that you owed loan sharks, lost your job, and that your stepmother even seized your house, so I came to check on you. I didn’t mean anything else.”

Su You instantly caught the hidden danger in his words.

She grabbed his collar, her sharp eagle-like eyes locking onto him, making Hou Rui shiver involuntarily.

“Where did you get the news that I’m here?”

Hou Rui didn’t dare lie. “I saw you this morning at the outdoor flagship store on the Fourth Ring Road. At first, I wasn’t sure it was you. It was that clerk who told me about you, so I came here.”

Su You’s lips curved into a cold sneer.

So that was it. Quite the coincidence Hou Rui stumbled into.

“Does anyone else know?”

“No. I came straight here once I had the address.”

Only then did Su You release him, a mocking coldness flashing in her eyes.

“Our relationship ended the moment you cheated.”

“I’ve got some interesting things in my hands—screenshots of your chats with your precious junior sister, senior sister, and others. If I were to package them up and post them on your school’s confession wall, what do you think would happen?”

“Hou Rui, you’re graduating next year. I had no intention of meddling in your dirty affairs, nor do I care to.”

“So, now that I’m working here, you’d better keep your mouth shut and stop pestering me. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee what I might do.”

“Do you understand?”

Hou Rui’s eyes widened in shock. He instinctively wanted to deny it. “I—I—”

“If you understand, then get lost!”

Without looking back, Su You turned and left, leaving Hou Rui sitting on the ground in a daze.

This was a law-abiding society—she wouldn’t lay a hand on him again, but she wasn’t about to let him enjoy a peaceful month either.

The minor incident in the afternoon didn’t delay Su You from boarding her flight to Country A.

If everything went smoothly, in 13 hours she would reunite with Amber and begin another round of procurement.

On the plane, Su You first logged into a secure system and drafted a long email to Xia Country’s security department. It contained her detailed recollections of the coming apocalypse—a full narrative compared to the Doomsday Website’s vague prophecies.

Even if the authorities didn’t fully believe her, they wouldn’t be completely caught off guard when disaster struck.

After finishing that, Su You opened the website again.

The Doomsday Website didn’t have much traffic, only a few dozen posts, both in Chinese and English, most of them meaningless chatter.

Su You clicked on the thread with the most replies.

Post #1 Whale Shark: “Doomsday countdown 26 days? Which bored prankster came up with this gimmick? Probably won’t spark discussions like the 2012 Mayan apocalypse nonsense. Just a clickbait site?”

Post #2 Black Swan: “Oho, that heart logo is sick. I already asked my tattoo artist to ink it on my shoulder.”

Post #3 Don’t Eat Durian replying to Black Swan: “Yeah, it looks awesome. This site is too cool. I already applied for a spot in the base, but I don’t know what the admission requirements are.”

Soon, a fortune-teller chimed in.

Post #4 Diviner: “I did a divination…” (after a rambling wall of text) “…and according to my prediction, the apocalypse is actually a year away. So the claim that it’ll come in 26 days is wrong.”

Post #5 GibberishK replying to Whale Shark: “This site is just attention-seeking garbage. Nothing of value. I regret even clicking in.”

Post #6 White Angel replying to GibberishK: “But is it real or fake? The site looks so convincing, and that bloody countdown feels ominous. What if the apocalypse really is coming?”

Post #7 GibberishK replying to White Angel: “Idiot, stop being curious. Don’t wander into shady sites and then worry all day. Isn’t there a Doomsday Rescue section? If you’re scared, register there. Maybe it’ll help if something happens in 26 days.”

White Angel didn’t seem to catch the sarcasm and replied, “Well, I think I’ll register. My mom always says, ‘Better safe than sorry.’”

Don’t Eat Durian replied to White Angel: “What number did you get? Maybe our IDs are close. Add me later and let’s figure out how this works. With my years of gaming experience, this has to be some game company’s hype trick. Bet within half a month someone will reveal themselves.”

There were also hardcore preppers who posted long supply lists, preparing for every disaster imaginable.

Su You skimmed other threads; the content was similar.

Other than the Diviner, no one seemed shocked by the “26 days” prophecy. That meant—for now—she hadn’t spotted another reborn like herself.

But with so little time since the site’s launch, the small user base meant the data was worthless for now.

Finally, Su You opened the group chat. Amber was chatting enthusiastically, bragging loudly and swearing that he had accomplished something major this time.

This stream, he promised, would have a different impact.

The fans were hyped with anticipation.

Then, someone dropped a screenshot into the chat.

“Guys, this is from the foreign survival forums. Supposedly a doomsday countdown prophecy. What do you think?”

“Damn, bro, where’d you get such a bloody pic?”

“Hahaha, I checked it out. The site is new, clearly just set up. Looks mysterious as hell. And its timing matches the closed beta of the Doomsday Wasteland game. Maybe it’s just a publicity stunt.”

“@Sister You, Amber—what do you guys think?”

Su You replied: “Tomorrow morning during the stream, I’ll log in and check it out for everyone. The site does look interesting. Only 100 slots? I’ll grab one first, just in case it’s some competitor’s marketing trick.”

“Hahaha, Sister You always thinks ahead. Can’t wait for the reveal.”

“Hahahaha, Amber, aren’t you supposed to be the tech guy? Can’t you trace the source?”

Amber quickly replied, “I’m not some omnipotent hacker. Can’t break into backdoors every time.”
