Inside the hotel room, Su You opened the spreadsheet she had made.
“This is why I came to you. Time is short. I need to get my hands on a large supply of diesel and gasoline, weapons and ammunition, satellite phones and Starlink terminals, speedboats, ships, and helicopters, as well as high-end medical supplies and consumables. Even seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, and harvesting machinery.”
“I’ve already stockpiled a batch of food, but the more the better. I hope we can keep buying.”
Amber had already recovered from his initial shock, and his heart was filled with eager excitement. He immediately agreed, “Alright, leave it all to me.”
Looking over the plan, he added, “But all this requires a huge amount of funds and storage space. I’ll need to buy some warehouses first.”
He looked up at Su You. She directly tossed him a black card. “No limit. Swipe away.”
Amber’s eyes lit up as he took it. “No problem.”
Still, he pointed out a flaw. “Sister You, the base needs more than just supplies. Civilization is the true inheritance. Books are the greatest treasure.”
He sighed with regret. “So much knowledge is digital now. We should try to preserve as much of our cultural achievements as possible.”
Su You understood immediately.
Indeed, many literature and database resources were important—culture was the foundation of everything.
“Handle it your way. Hardware, processors, SSDs, physical servers—if you can get a batch, buy them too.”
She added, “But I need to transfer goods into the warehouses. Try to find some discreet ones.”
Amber nodded. “No problem.”
He was a smart man.
If Su You didn’t say it, he wouldn’t ask how she was transferring so much cargo or where it was going.
And as for the Doomsday Website… if you thought carefully, it wasn’t hard to guess why Su You was preparing all this.
She was getting ready for the end of the world.
On the day of the livestream, Su You was prepared.
She first played a few games, explained the background and combat system of the wasteland online game, reviewed the strength of several beta-test characters, and cleared a few levels.
Basically, it was set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop, where base personnel had to survive, scavenge for supplies, and fight all sorts of mutated beasts.
During a game break, the chat filled with discussions about the Doomsday Website.
Someone said: “Sister You, did you register? Is this a gimmick made by a rival company?”
“Yeah, that countdown feels like some kind of official game announcement. Not gonna lie, it piqued my interest.”
“I think so too. And those doomsday base entry slots—aren’t they just beta test slots? I was a step too late and missed it.”
“Hahaha, Sister You mentioned it in the group chat. We rushed to register and took up the slots, so of course you couldn’t grab one.”
Watching the chat scroll by, Su You picked a few comments to respond to:
“Yeah, I registered. It’s pretty flashy. There’s even a forum where you can chat freely—it looks mostly unrestricted for now. If you apply in the ‘Doomsday Rescue’ section, you can get a slot. Seems first come, first served. But even then, registering early doesn’t guarantee you’ll actually qualify.”
“This is most likely a publicity stunt by a competing company. Wasteland Survival is about to start open beta. Riding that hype, they made a Doomsday Website—it’s a great way to grab attention. Whoever’s behind it is pretty smart.”
“Going by the usual practices of gaming companies, they’ll probably test the waters with 100 slots, then add more later. If you’re interested, keep an eye on my stream or the group chat. If new slots open, I’ll give you all a heads-up.”
As soon as she said that, someone joked: “The streamer’s an undercover agent from the rival company! Trying to get paid by both sides?”
But the comment quickly vanished under the flood of new messages.
Then someone brought up the “surprise” that had been mentioned in the group.
Su You raised her eyebrows. “I’m actually at the headquarters of the game company right now. I’ll show you guys the building, and later I’ll drop by the R&D department. If you have questions, I can ask on your behalf.”
Sure enough, chat exploded with excitement.
“No way! Sister You, you’re abroad?!”
“Why didn’t you say earlier! Wait for me, I’m coming for a selfie!”
“Ahhh this collab is amazing. Streaming at the game company’s HQ—so hype!”
“Isn’t there a real-world landmark nearby that was modeled in the game? Feels so immersive!”
Messages flew by in a frenzy. Su You switched to her phone and streamed herself walking downstairs, showing her fans around the game company building. It became an extra treat for them and wrapped up her livestream for the day.
Once the stream ended, she immediately saw a message from Amber: “Sister You, that was badass! How did you even think of that collab? Honestly, I was blown away.”
After all, he had thought the “collab” would be with the Doomsday Website.
Su You replied: “It was a last-minute idea. Didn’t expect it to work so well. How’s it going on your end—did you get the goods?”
Amber quickly sent back a smug emoji. “Very smoothly!”
Su You: “Good. Someone from sales contacted me about buying seeds. I’ll get in touch later.”
Amber: “OK.”
She had found the seed supplier on a specialized website, which listed contact info and allowed buyers to choose crop types.
Since Su You was buying in bulk, the manufacturer sent someone to contact her directly. But because she had already paid a deposit, they didn’t dig further.
Corn, wheat, rice, soybeans. She bought 100 tons of each.
The seller offered to load them onto a ship for an extra delivery fee, but Su You used “incomplete paperwork” as an excuse and had them deliver the boxed seeds to a designated warehouse, where she secretly stored them away.
Soon after, Amber’s shipment arrived as well.
There were military tri-edged bayonets, steel knives, pistols, rifles, bullets, grenades, and even heavier weapons.
When she saw the cost of the order, even Su You was stunned. Fortunately, once she transferred everything into her storage space, her account balance rebounded nicely.
Since there were no restrictions, she even ordered a batch of bows, crossbows, and accessories—useful in situations where firearms might not be convenient.
The diesel and gasoline came from the black market, shipped straight from the source. One shipment alone was about 600,000 barrels of crude oil—discounted, and enough to sustain the base for many years.
She also secured fertilizers, pesticides, and farming tools.
As more and more goods were brought into the base, the 10,000-square-meter storage space started feeling cramped. Su You sensed that her base was on the verge of another upgrade.
