Chapter 13: The Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire

Under the guidance of Dugu Bo, Dugu Yan successfully retracted the Eight Spider Lances back into her body.

Dugu Bo then swiftly took to the skies, carrying both Dugu Yan and Jiang Jie, flying rapidly towards Heaven DouCity.

Jiang Jie had already ingested a top-quality healing elixir, which would take effect shortly. Meanwhile, Dugu Yan’s body could not withstand the violent energies within the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

Thus, Dugu Bo decided to take her back to his residence first and then return to the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire with Jiang Jie to utilize the herbs there for a quicker recovery.

The speed of a Titled Douluo in flight is extremely fast. Despite not being a speed-oriented martial soul, Dugu Bo’s flight still covered the short distance from Sunset Forest to Heaven DouCity in no time.

After ensuring Dugu Yan’s safety back in Heaven DouCity, he hurriedly returned to Sunset Forest with Jiang Jie, who was still unconscious.

Flying non-stop, Dugu Bo did not delay for a moment. The Sunset Forest, unlike the Star Dou Forest, did not harbor many powerful soul beasts. Sensing the aura of a Titled Douluo, the few that were present quickly hid, not daring to obstruct him.

Soon, Dugu Bo arrived at a valley shrouded in toxic miasma.

This was the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

It was a place Jiang Jie had been eager to visit since his transmigration. Despite being unconscious, Dugu Bo brought him here.

Navigating through the miasma with ease, Dugu Bo landed after a short flight. The red and blue glow of the Yin-Yang Eyes illuminated his aged face, while the pungent smell of sulfur filled their nostrils.

Although Dugu Bo used his soul power to protect Jiang Jie from the intense elemental conflict within the Yin-Yang Eyes, the strong sulfur odor could not be blocked.

The sharp smell roused Jiang Jie from his stupor. With a large sneeze and a furrowed brow, he slowly regained consciousness.

Upon waking, one thought dominated his mind:

“Damn it, I was too careless!”

Regret surged through him. He had decided to keep a low profile, yet his instinctive actions had nearly cost him his life.

What a mess this was.

Jiang Jie had just acknowledged his master and senior sister. Honestly, aside from a slight fondness for Dugu Yan, he felt no deep attachment to either of them. The thought of dying for them was out of the question.

However, he couldn’t stop himself when condensing the spirit bone.

Feeling hopeless, Jiang Jie opened his weary eyes, rubbed them vigorously, and took in his surroundings.

The most striking sight was the nearby red and white “yuan yang hotpot”… No, it was the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

“This… What is this?!” Jiang Jie’s eyes widened, not even noticing he was still in Dugu Bo’s arms.

“This is my herb garden, filled with many rare and precious herbs,” Dugu Bo’s aged voice explained. “Not only are there invaluable medicinal herbs rarely seen in the outside world, but there are also deadly poisonous plants that can kill upon contact.”

Dugu Bo’s words snapped Jiang Jie out of his daze. He struggled to suppress his mixed expression of shock and joy.

Seeing the strange look on Jiang Jie’s face, Dugu Bo curiously asked, “Disciple, do you recognize the herbs in my garden?”

“No, I don’t!” Jiang Jie denied vehemently.

“But your expression suggests you’re very interested in these herbs…” Dugu Bo said meaningfully.

Sweat nearly broke out on Jiang Jie’s forehead. This old fox could see through his slightest unnatural expressions.

Noticing Jiang Jie’s nervous demeanor, Dugu Bo chuckled and set him down gently.

“Don’t worry, I’m not that petty. Since I brought you here, these herbs won’t be off-limits to you!” Dugu Bo patted Jiang Jie’s shoulder kindly. “You risked severe injury to help Yan Yan. How could I deny you some herbs? As long as you don’t waste them, feel free to use whatever you need!”

“Really? You’re serious?” Jiang Jie’s eyes lit up, ignoring the persistent pain in his body, and looked eagerly at Dugu Bo.

“Of course, I stand by my word!” Dugu Bo replied, half-amused.

This kid was still too naive, unable to conceal his thoughts. Everything he felt was written all over his faceā€”he needed more practice!

Dugu Bo sighed inwardly. He didn’t mind Jiang Jie having his own secrets, as long as he meant no harm to his granddaughter and himself.

After all, he was his disciple.

Jiang Jie wouldn’t go so far as to commit treachery. Dugu Bo trusted his judgment of people and believed Jiang Jie was not one to repay kindness with malice.

And indeed, Dugu Bo wasn’t wrong.

Jiang Jie was not like Tang San, trained in a killer sect. He was a genuine youth from the 21st century, with no morally dubious inclinations. Although he had his quirks, betraying his benefactor was something he would never do.

As Dugu Bo mused, Jiang Jie eagerly eyed the two central herbs near the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

One was a large cabbage-like plant, seemingly carved from red jade, emanating a terrifying heat that distorted the surrounding air.

The other was an aloe-like plant made of blue ice crystals, with eight leaves and a snowflake-like crystal at its core.

Fiery Apricot Delicate and Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass!

While he might struggle to recognize other immortal herbs based on mere descriptions, these two were unmistakable.

These were the key herbs that had granted Tang San his ice and fire immunity in the original story, significantly enhancing his body’s strength.

With these two herbs, Jiang Jie was confident he could absorb a thousand-year soul ring right from his first one!

Seeing Jiang Jie staring intently at the Fiery Apricot Delicate and the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, Dugu Bo’s heart skipped a beat. “Jie, you wouldn’t be thinking of eating those two herbs, would you?”

It took Jiang Jie a moment to realize that ‘Jie’ referred to him. He hadn’t expected Dugu Bo to address him so affectionately so soon.

But he nodded without hesitation.

“Yes, Master, I want to eat those two herbs!”
