Chapter 19: The Lost Title

Jiang Jie casually threw the clothes on himself in three swift moves, then strode over to the flower and carefully examined the white blossom.

To identify whether a herb was a fairy herb or not, besides recognizing it outright, the most straightforward method was to see if there were any other plants growing around it.

However, this method wasn’t foolproof. While some fairy herbs might indeed grow alongside other plants, most of them didn’t tolerate the presence of other vegetation around them. These extraordinary flowers wouldn’t allow anything else to grow near them.

The few fairy herbs Jiang Jie had identified before were all solitary, growing in barren areas devoid of any other plants.

So, he instinctively believed that fairy herbs tended to stand alone, without any other plants nearby.

This particular herb was situated on the backside of a rock. Unless viewed from a specific angle, one could only see the common “weeds,” dragon fern leaves, growing around the rock. These leaves were considered weeds, but in reality, within the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Eyes, they were precious medicinal herbs that enhanced one’s body constitution and aided in restoring vitality and spiritual power.

Tang San even used these herbs to feed rabbits.

But because dragon fern leaves were so abundant, Jiang Jie subconsciously ignored this location. Now, standing in front of the flower, he couldn’t help but feel that it was indeed the Water Narcissus Jade Muscles.

Curious, Dugu Bo walked over, somewhat puzzled. “What are you looking at? Is there anything unusual about this herb?”

Though Jiang Jie was already convinced that this was the Water Narcissus Jade Muscles, he still wanted Dugu Bo’s confirmation. “Master, can you sense the approximate effects of this flower? Is it poisonous? I have a guess, but I’m not certain.”

As a master of poisons, Dugu Bo wasn’t proficient in identifying every herb’s effects, but he was adept at discerning whether they were poisonous.

Jiang Jie needed Dugu Bo’s assurance.

Hearing Jiang Jie’s words, Dugu Bo focused and carefully sensed the flower’s energy. Then he spoke, “It’s not poisonous, very safe. As for its medicinal effects, I’m not entirely sure. I can only sense vaguely that it has a tonifying effect.”

“Yes, that’s it!” Jiang Jie’s eyes brightened. “Master, pluck it, put it in a jade box, preferably stored in a soul tool capable of preserving living objects. It’s very useful!”

“Oh? Tell me more,” Dugu Bo said with interest, as he plucked the Water Narcissus Jade Muscles and stored it in a high-quality jade box, placing it in his treasure bag.

Dugu Bo was a professional. Even though he didn’t understand what the Water Narcissus Jade Muscles were, he didn’t diminish its medicinal potency during the harvesting process. He perfectly sealed it with spiritual power.

“Do you remember the pink flower you ate?” Jiang Jie smiled faintly.

“You mean…?” Dugu Bo pondered.

“Exactly. It’s of the same caliber as that flower, maybe slightly inferior in quality, but it’s very suitable for Sister Yan.”

Dugu Bo’s eyes lit up.

The effects of the Fragrant Rosy Fairy were known only to him, aside from himself, no one knew its full extent. Although it didn’t enhance his spiritual power, it transformed his body into one immune to all poisons, healing the countless injuries inflicted by toxins over the years.

This meant that Dugu Bo could now use poisons limitlessly, be it for combat or cultivation. Toxins would no longer hinder his progress but rather serve as nutrients to strengthen him.

Could this flower also have such remarkable effects?

Dugu Bo gently caressed his treasure bag, his eyes filled with intense joy.

“Fantastic, Yan is blessed!”

Yan had always been the most important person to him. If it weren’t for the fact that Yan was no longer bound by toxins, he would have given the Fragrant Rosy Fairy to her.

But considering that she already had the Eight Spider Lances, Dugu Bo hesitated and consumed the Fragrant Rosy Fairy himself. Yan hadn’t fully grown up yet and still needed his protection, so he couldn’t afford to die.

“I never expected my herb garden to harbor so many miraculous herbs. It’s truly astonishing; I’ve been sitting on a treasure trove without realizing it.” Dugu Bo sighed, his tone complex.

“So, Master, you must guard this valley well; it’s teeming with treasures,” Jiang Jie said with a grin.

“More treasures?” Dugu Bo’s despondence instantly transformed into eagerness as he looked at Jiang Jie with glittering eyes. “Good disciple, you must be my obedient disciple, right?”

“Tell me quickly, how many herbs of this caliber are still in this herb garden?”

“Well, about that…” Jiang Jie scratched his head, looking at Dugu Bo’s greedy expression, and sweat formed on his brow. “I’m not sure. I conservatively estimate there are at least five more, but consuming too many of these can lead to conflicts in the body’s energies. It’s best to take one at a time in the short term, unless they’re consumed in combinations like mine. Otherwise, too many can be harmful.”

“As for specifics, I don’t know. I only know they’re very precious. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have needed to ask you; I could have determined it myself.”

“I see…” Dugu Bo nodded.

It was normal; he should be surprised if he knew too much.

But after discussing with Jiang Jie, Dugu Bo made up his mind.

He hadn’t realized how valuable the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Eyes were before. Though he valued this place, he hadn’t realized its true significance. Now that he did, he would guard it tightly and never bring anyone else here.

“Master, now that everything’s settled, can you take me to find Soul Rings?” Jiang Jie asked.

Dugu Bo nodded. “Any preferences for the type of Soul Rings you want?”

“Not in a rush for a specific type. After consuming the two herbs, my physical qualities have significantly improved. So, before anything else, could you test me to see what level my physical qualities are at now?” Jiang Jie was eager to try.

Dugu Bo was curious too, to see how much improvement those two herbs had brought Jiang Jie. So, he placed one hand behind his back and gestured with the other toward Jiang Jie.

“Come on, use all your strength and punch me.”

“Okay, Master, be careful!” Jiang Jie grinned and clenched his fist.

Stepping forward, he delivered a full-force punch!
