Lian Dan and Jiang Han concluded their business-related chat, both satisfied with the conversation.
Lian Dan followed Xie Wanxing into his house, changing shoes as she asked him, “How did you get along with Fu Wenshan on the show? His agent seems quite friendly. Jiang Han is known in the industry for having a good temper and being good with people, with keen insight. But Fu Wenshan… “
She stopped there, lowering her head to put her shoes in the shoe cabinet.
Xie Wanxing felt a bit uneasy. It was the first time in his life he had a friend with benefits, and logically speaking, for safety reasons, he should inform his agent.
However, even though Lian Dan only managed him, she had been entrusted by the Xie family and cared about him. She occasionally talked to his brother and reported on whether anyone had dared to bully him recently.
Thinking it over, Xie Wanxing felt like a primary school student afraid of being reported by the teacher or parents.
After pondering for a moment, he vaguely replied, “It’s fine, no conflicts.” Remembering how Fu Wenshan had taken care of him at the haunted school and helped him pack up afterward, he added conscientiously, “During the haunted school segment, he helped me a lot.”
He was somewhat concerned about what Lian Dan hadn’t finished saying and asked as he drank water, “What were you going to say about him?”
But Lian Dan didn’t dwell on it.
In her mind, Xie Wanxing was a rare obedient figure in the entertainment industry, with a good background, good temperament, and no trouble-making tendencies. He was also competent in his work, making her feel very relieved. Fu Wenshan, on the other hand, was a different story. He was known for getting into fights and making headlines since his debut.
“I used to worry that you two might quarrel,” Lian Dan continued, “Fu Wenshan, like you, comes from a good background and has good conditions. He treats entering the entertainment industry as a pastime. He also once got into a fight with a staff member shortly after his debut, almost causing a big scene, but Jiang Han managed to suppress it. Moreover, this young master has numerous rumored relationships. Although the entertainment industry is full of rumors, you two are fundamentally different.”
Xie Wanxing didn’t know why, but hearing Lian Dan say this made him feel a little uncomfortable—not because of Lian Dan, but because he always felt that Fu Wenshan, although cold and aloof, wasn’t the type to resort to violence easily.
Maybe there was some misunderstanding.
But he hadn’t known Fu Wenshan for long enough to vouch for him.
After chatting with him about upcoming work, Lian Dan handed him the script for the movie he was about to shoot.
Xie Wanxing would have to start filming soon after resting for a while. It was his first film, and although it was a commercial film, the director and screenwriter were well-known, making it a rare opportunity.
After discussing work, Xie Wanxing invited Lian Dan to dinner.
She declined, “My child is still at home, and I haven’t spent much time with her lately, so I won’t stay today.”
Then she left with Wang Xiaoming.
Having dinner alone, Xie Wanxing couldn’t cook anything else; he could only mix some pre-made salad. As he ate and watched TV, he sighed after a few bites, missing Fu Wenshan’s spicy fish slices.
He admitted that besides craving Fu Wenshan’s body, Fu Wenshan’s cooking skills also left a lasting impression.
Since he was young, he had liked gentle and caring men, although Fu Wenshan wasn’t exactly gentle or domestic, but seeing him busy in the kitchen…
Recalling this, Xie Wanxing felt that not only was he handsome, but he also had a cute side.
At the same time, in the neighboring villa next to Xie Wanxing’s, Fu Wenshan had just seen Jiang Han, the old mother hen, off. Jiang Han had been chattering non-stop, giving him a headache.
Finally, when Jiang Han left, Fu Wenshan’s phone, which had been placed on the table, started buzzing. He picked it up and saw that it was from his group of childhood friends, chatting and even mentioning him, asking him if he was still out in the boondocks shooting variety shows.
These childhood friends of Fu Wenshan included those he had grown up with and some high school classmates. They had always had a good relationship, and when Fu Wenshan wanted to enter the entertainment industry despite his family’s objections, these friends supported him at the risk of being disowned by their families.
They were practically inseparable friends for life.
Fu Wenshan: “I’m back, just settled in.”
Friend A: “Hey, back where? Cuhe Bay?”
Fu Wenshan: “Yes, just got settled.”
A few people discussed eagerly whether to give Fu Wenshan a surprise and celebrate his housewarming.
As they chatted, Fu Wenshan suddenly remembered something. Among these people, except for him, who remained single due to his moral standards, the others were all playboys and playgirls, with experiences ranging from dating minor celebrities to internet sensations filling up an entire swimming pool.
Thinking of his neighbor in the villa next door, Xie Wanxing, who was known for his diligent and inquisitive spirit, he casually dropped a question, “Let me ask you something, how do you usually treat casual partners?”
As a newbie, he felt it was necessary to seek advice from these seasoned players.
But as soon as he asked, everyone in the group fell silent.
Two seconds later, they quickly formed a new group without Fu Wenshan.
A group without Fu Wenshan.
Friend A: “Oh no, something’s up with Fu ge!! He must be hiding something from us, otherwise why would he ask such a question?”
Friend B: “I’m not so sure. He’s asking about casual partners, not boyfriends. Xiao Fu, this guy, is so rigid when it comes to relationships. Do you think he’d casually hook up with someone? Maybe he’s asking for someone else.”
Friend C: “I agree. I introduced him to a really good-looking young guy last time, a college student who’s both beautiful and innocent. But he didn’t even give him a second look before kicking him out of the room. Honestly, I’ve been suspecting that his little guy down there isn’t working properly, even thinking about giving him some male enhancement stuff.”
The others made a series of murmurs, and the conversation quickly turned vulgar.
Regardless of the situation, the main issue at hand was whether to give Fu Wenshan some supplements.
Unable to elicit a response from the group, Fu Wenshan wondered and sent another message, “Where is everyone?”
Friend A: “Give him a bag.”
Friend B: “Give him a car.”
Friend D: “Is he in the entertainment industry? Last time, I arranged a supporting role for a minor celebrity in a drama, and she was overjoyed.”
Fu Wenshan frowned upon reading these messages.
He had all these things, but the question was, did Xie Wanxing need them? Did Xie Wanxing still need him to buy bags, cars, and provide resources for him?
After some thought, he felt a faint sense of pride.
His friends could only rely on money to have casual partners, but he, solely relying on personal charm, had won over someone as discerning and picky as Xie Wanxing, even turning him from a top to a bottom.
See, that’s the difference between people.
Fortunately, his friends didn’t know what he was thinking, otherwise, they would definitely have collectively vented their frustrations on him.
They were still trying to pry some gossip out of Fu Wenshan.
“Fu ge, why did you ask that? Are you interested in someone?”
“If you’re really interested in someone, let us know, and we’ll help you make the first move.”
Fu Wenshan’s fingers hovered over the keyboard as he swiftly typed, “Get lost!”
He didn’t want to talk about Xie Wanxing’s matter.
It wasn’t that he didn’t trust these friends; he just felt that, although he and Xie Wanxing were casual sexual partners, it didn’t seem as casual as being able to chat and joke freely with each other.
He remembered Xie Wanxing leaning against the window sill in his robe, bathed in the morning light, radiating an ethereal glow. With his cascading hair and lazy eyes, there was a kind of spoiled charm about him, yet his gaze was clear and sharp.
This made him feel that regardless of how many lovers Xie Wanxing had had or how many romantic stories he had left behind, Xie Wanxing himself was someone to be cherished, not someone to be casually discussed.
After some thought, he replied with a few words, “Nothing much, just asking randomly. I think I should also try finding someone.”
After saying this, he changed the subject and asked if they were free to meet up.
However, at the moment he uttered these words, several childhood friends continued chatting and joking with him while typing furiously in their private group chat.
“Fu Wenshan, this guy must be up to something!!!” Friend A expressed his shock with exclamation marks. “I bet a sports car, it’s definitely not just a simple casual sexual partner. Maybe he’s falling in love!!!!”
“I second that.”
“I agree with the above.”
Friend D, however, sighed deeply, not as excited as the other three.
He said, “This silly kid Fu Wenshan, can he even be in a relationship? Maybe he’s just being played by someone. Brothers, we need to find out who this person is and scrutinize them for the sake of our silly kid.”
