As soon as Xie Wanxing entered the restroom, he leaned over the sink and vomited. He had always had a weak stomach, although he didn’t have any gastric problems, eating raw and greasy food often made him nauseous.
In the past, he would usually endure it and wait for it to pass.
But today, as he stood by the sink, he vomited until only sour water was left, and his stomach not only didn’t feel better but also felt like there was a knife twisting inside.
He gripped the edge of the washbasin, his legs so weak he could hardly stand.
He was considering whether to call his assistant to come and pick him up.
But his phone was in the private room. Right now, he was in so much pain that he could barely stand. If he went back to get it, he might vomit again in the corridor. If someone saw him and took a picture, or worse, posted it online…
After thinking for a moment, he felt that he would rather die in pain here.
But he hadn’t decided whether saving face or his health was more important when the door of the bathroom was pushed open again.
Xie Wanxing hadn’t had a chance to see who it was when the person had already walked up behind him and pulled him into their arms.
“Why are you vomiting like this?”
Fu Wenshan had just noticed that Xie Wanxing’s complexion wasn’t right. After seeing him go to the bathroom and not return for a while, he came to check on him out of concern, only to unexpectedly find a sick cat.
He didn’t mind that Xie Wanxing had just vomited. He let Xie Wanxing lean against him and used a tissue to wipe the corners of his mouth.
Xie Wanxing collapsed weakly into Fu Wenshan’s arms. He was about to speak when the pain in his abdomen flared up again. He felt nauseous, but the pain prevented him from making a sound, so he could only grab onto Fu Wenshan’s sleeve tightly.
Fu Wenshan, seeing this, didn’t ask further questions. Instead, he lifted Xie Wanxing horizontally and said without hesitation, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Xie Wanxing widened his eyes in disbelief at Fu Wenshan. “Are you crazy? You’re just going to carry me out like this. Do you want us to make headlines together tomorrow?”
He wasn’t ready to come out to the whole nation.
But Fu Wenshan didn’t care.
Xie Wanxing was wearing a hoodie that day, and Fu Wenshan helped him put on the hood, then turned his face towards him and said, “They won’t be able to take your picture. Even if they do, I won’t let the photos go public.”
Saying this, he carried Xie Wanxing out of the room, reminding him, “Hold onto me tight.”
Xie Wanxing: “…”
He didn’t know what to say.
They were both rich second-generation, so why was Fu Wenshan so arrogant?
But in his current sickly state, he couldn’t resist at all. He simply buried his head in Fu Wenshan’s chest and could only see his long legs from behind.
Just as they were about to leave, Xie Wanxing finally remembered something he had forgotten. He urgently tugged on Fu Wenshan’s sleeve, “My phone is still in the private room.”
Fu Wenshan had already carried him to the car and settled him in the passenger seat, fastening his seatbelt, before taking something out of his pocket and tossing it to Xie Wanxing.
“I got it for you.”
Xie Wanxing grabbed his phone, unsure if he should thank him for his thoughtfulness.
Fu Wenshan didn’t say anything more. He sat in the driver’s seat and stepped on the gas pedal.
Once the car started, Xie Wanxing curled up in the passenger seat. This time, he was truly in too much pain to speak. He was very worried that Fu Wenshan would take him to the nearest hospital, and he might be recognized when he arrived. By tomorrow, not only would gossip about him and Fu Wenshan spread on Weibo, but they might also say he was critically ill.
But when they arrived at their destination, Xie Wanxing discovered that it was a private hospital with few people around. As Fu Wenshan carried him into the lobby, they didn’t attract much attention.
While Fu Wenshan helped him register, he casually explained, “This is a private hospital run by my childhood friend’s family. It’s marketed as a five-star service, so the fees are naturally five-star too, and there aren’t many people coming.” Fu Wenshan rolled his eyes, “He’s just a shady businessman.”
Xie Wanxing’s face was pale with pain, but he couldn’t help but smile.
After a while, he was taken for examination.
While Xie Wanxing was being examined, Fu Wenshan called Zhou Ying and the others who were still at the Japanese restaurant. They had just realized that both him and Xie Wanxing had disappeared and were calling and texting to ask what was going on.
Fu Wenshan said, “Yeah, we’re at the hospital. Xie Wanxing suddenly had severe stomach pain. It’s nothing, I’m just accompanying him. You don’t need to come.”
Zhou Ying kept apologizing on the phone, “Is it because I ordered a lot of raw food? Should I go and accompany Xie-ge? I’ll take care of him.”
“No need, I’ll stay with him. You guys have fun.” Fu Wenshan glanced inside again and, hearing that Zhou Ying was still concerned, said, “We’re neighbors. I’ll take him home tomorrow. If you guys come to the hospital again, we might really attract paparazzi.”
Everyone understood. If so many people crowded into the hospital, not only would they not be able to help, but they might also cause trouble.
“Make sure to let us know the results.” Zhou Ying said finally.
“Got it.”
Fu Wenshan hung up the phone.
The examination results came out quickly.
“He has acute gastroenteritis.”
Fu Wenshan looked at the medical record, then glanced at the weak and pale Xie Wanxing beside him, and asked the doctor, “Is it really just gastroenteritis? He seems to be in a lot of pain. Shouldn’t we do another examination?”
Xie Wanxing’s face quietly flushed. He knew Fu Wenshan must have been scared by his appearance just now. But he had always been unable to endure pain since he was a child, even the tiniest discomfort would make him writhe in agony.
He tugged at Fu Wenshan’s sleeve and whispered, “Don’t make it difficult for the doctor. We’ve already done all the examinations.”
After the doctor prescribed the medicine, she finally gave Fu Wenshan a meaningful glance from behind her glasses and said, “Just go get the medication. His symptoms aren’t very severe. Rest for a couple of days, and later, feed him some glucose water and pay attention to his diet.”
The implication was clear: there’s nothing serious, so just leave.
Fu Wenshan had no choice but to carry Xie Wanxing out again.
He even arranged a VIP ward for Xie Wanxing on the upper floor, a single room decorated like a bedroom, and of course, the charges were exceptionally high.
In the end, it turned out to be just a mild case of gastroenteritis.
He carried Xie Wanxing into the elevator, and seeing Xie Wanxing burying his head without speaking, with red ears, he couldn’t help but tease him, “Such a delicate flower.”
Xie Wanxing didn’t even lift his head and retorted, “And you’re as tough as nails.”
After they arrived at the ward, a nurse came soon to administer IV for Xie Wanxing. However, she was very professional and didn’t ask many questions, even when faced with two celebrities. She just smiled and reminded Xie Wanxing not to touch the needle.
After she left, Fu Wenshan said, “Don’t bother tonight. Just stay here. We’ll leave when you feel better tomorrow.”
Xie Wanxing leaned back on the bed, not objecting. He didn’t say anything, just nodded.
Fu Wenshan looked at him for a moment, then stood up and went to the bathroom. He poured a glass of water and handed Xie Wanxing another toothbrush.
He could tell that Xie Wanxing had been avoiding talking to him because he didn’t like the smell of vomit in his mouth, even though he had rinsed it out. Xie Wanxing hesitated for a moment before accepting it, then brushed his teeth on the bed with one hand.
After he finished brushing, Fu Wenshan came over with a warm washcloth and gently wiped his face and hands, just like washing a cat’s face.
The feeling of the warm towel on his face was very comfortable. Xie Wanxing suddenly felt like he had turned back into a preschooler, being pampered everywhere.
“Why are you so good at taking care of people?” Xie Wanxing couldn’t help but ask, “Clearly, you seem…” He remembered the first time he met Fu Wenshan, “…to have a bad temper.”
Fu Wenshan didn’t refute the evaluation of his temper, just smiled and looked at him, “Does this count as taking care of you?”
Xie Wanxing curled his legs up and rested his chin on his knees, looking at Fu Wenshan, “Yes.”
He, too, had been pampered by nannies since he was a child, naturally having someone to serve him.
But the nannies took care of him because they were paid by the Xie family. His family pampered him because he was the youngest child in the family.
But Fu Wenshan was different. He came from a prestigious family, and he was domineering. He had never bowed his head to anyone in his life.
He didn’t need to be patient like this with him, or even indulgent.
Fu Wenshan finished wiping his hands and threw the washcloth into the trash can. He ruffled Xie Wanxing’s head, “I’m not this patient with everyone.”
If it were Li Siheng here, he probably would have just left him to fend for himself.
Xie Wanxing pursed his lips, for some reason, feeling a little shy.
He had rolled the sheets with Fu Wenshan many times without feeling embarrassed, but because of such a simple intimate action, his heart raced faster.
But Fu Wenshan didn’t notice. After feeding Xie Wanxing the oral glucose, he took off his outerwear and lay down on the bed as well.
Since this ward was arranged to look like a bedroom, the bed was large enough to accommodate two people comfortably.
They leaned against the bed together and continued watching the variety show they hadn’t finished watching, which was a replay.
This episode of “Unexpected encounter” indeed had higher ratings than the previous one, with comments flooding the screen, almost blocking the view.
The six guests were divided into three pairs, with each pair consisting of a “king” and a “bronze.” Soon, the comments were filled with the same sentence: “Welcome to watch ‘Three Alphas and Their Little Sweethearts’.”
It was unclear who started the trend, but the comments were as if they were on steroids, enthusiastically shipping the couples. Moreover, it was done in an orderly manner, with clear distinctions between the three pairs of same-sex couples, never mixing them up. The fans of the other four people were fine, as these temporary guest couples would soon part ways after this episode.
Only Zhou Ying and Wu Ran’s solo fans were almost driven to madness. Who wants to ship the couple with the opponent!
Xie Wanxing watched the comments with an expressionless face, thinking, “What do they mean ‘little sweethearts’?”
But after watching for a while, he began to feel a bit sleepy and almost fell asleep leaning against Fu Wenshan’s shoulder.
At that moment, Fu Wenshan’s phone suddenly rang.
Fu Wenshan thought it was Jiang Han calling because he had just informed Jiang Han that he and Xie Wanxing were at the hospital today, possibly being photographed, and asked Jiang Han to figure out a solution. Jiang Han had cursed him out on the phone, calling him all sorts of names.
But when he took out his phone and saw an unfamiliar number without a name, he hesitated for a moment before answering, “Hello, who is this?”
There was silence on the other end of the phone for several seconds.
After a while, a young man’s voice came through, very gentle. “Wenshan, it’s me.”
He paused for a second, then introduced himself, “Yao Ren.”
Xie Wanxing, who was close by, could hear everything clearly even though it wasn’t on speakerphone.
At first, he didn’t pay much attention, but he subconsciously opened his eyes a crack and looked at Fu Wenshan, only to find that Fu Wenshan’s expression had suddenly turned extremely ugly after hearing the name “Yao Ren.”
Suddenly, Xie Wanxing wasn’t sleepy anymore.
