Fu Wenshan went into the bathroom with his toiletries, leaving Xie Wanxing with nothing to do but lean against the bedside and browse his phone.
He really wanted to vent to someone about his roommate being Fu Wenshan, but after looking around with his phone, he realized, to his loneliness, that due to his playboy image, he had no one to confide in.
He let out a sigh as he put down his phone. He heard the sound of water from the bathroom and lazily raised his eyelids.
Then he froze.
He discovered the second problem with this shabby attic.
The bathroom in this room was entirely made of glass.
Having the bathroom facing the bed would have been fine, considering the limited space in this small room. But could someone explain to him why the entire wall was frosted glass?
Although it wasn’t as clear as transparent glass, Xie Wanxing could still clearly see Fu Wenshan’s body silhouette from the wall, broad shoulders, narrow waist, long legs… and the lean abdomen he had experienced firsthand.
He didn’t know where to look for a moment. Although he disliked Fu Wenshan, he was still a person with desires. Faced with such a solid and sensual body, he couldn’t remain indifferent.
To divert his attention, he could only silently open his social media and enthusiastically like the posts of his group of friends.
Fortunately, half an hour later, Fu Wenshan emerged neatly dressed, wearing a black pajama set, his short hair dried. He didn’t even glance at Xie Wanxing before climbing into bed, facing away from him.
Xie Wanxing didn’t say anything either. He carried his things into the bathroom, aiming to settle things quickly.
He was truly tired today. After showering and lying down, he sighed sincerely. Although the bed beneath him wasn’t particularly soft or comfortable, at least he could rest.
Xie Wanxing soon fell asleep in a daze.
He liked to move around when he slept, and this bed itself was narrow. With two adult men lying on it, it was even more crowded. Xie Wanxing found himself pressed against Fu Wenshan, his face against Fu Wenshan’s shoulder, and his hair tangled around Fu Wenshan’s arm.
As he drifted off to sleep, he thought drowsily that he must be having a streak of bad luck this year. Should he go back and burn incense? He regretted mocking those middle-aged women for their superstitious beliefs. Perhaps there was some wisdom in them after all.
After Xie Wanxing fell asleep, Fu Wenshan slowly opened his eyes.
He wasn’t used to sleeping pressed up against someone, especially someone like Xie Wanxing with whom the relationship was awkward, making it even harder to sleep.
But he didn’t push Xie Wanxing away.
As Xie Wanxing slept, he looked particularly obedient, with curled eyelashes and slightly red lips, like a clean and gentle little prince, only suitable for appearing in fairy tales or in a young girl’s dream.
Seeing him like this, Fu Wenshan’s heart, which was obsessed with beauty, couldn’t help but revive for a few seconds.
Truly, appearances could be deceiving.
Fu Wenshan thought to himself.
If he hadn’t slept with Xie Wanxing, just by looking at Xie Wanxing’s face, he would never have believed that this person was so casual about sleeping with others like drinking water.
The next morning, the staff dutifully came to wake up all the guests. By the time everyone had finished dressing and come downstairs, it was almost nine o’clock.
Except for the two female guests who had put on delicate makeup, the remaining gentlemen were relatively casual. Zhou Ying and Wu Ran had at least drawn their eyebrows, but Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan went completely makeup-free.
However, even without makeup, Xie Wanxing’s appearance was still strikingly handsome. Zhou Ying stared at his face for a long time, then quietly switched seats with Wu Ran.
He whispered to Wu Ran, “I don’t want to sit next to him. The contrast is too harsh. You’re more handsome, so you go over there.”
Wu Ran was speechless but still switched seats with Zhou Ying.
Before they came down, breakfast had already been laid out on the table, with both Chinese and Western options available. However, no one touched their chopsticks.
Everyone at the table had watched several episodes of “Unexpected encounter” and knew that the production team was never to be trusted. They would never let everyone eat in peace.
In a previous episode, after enjoying a luxurious breakfast, a guest had collapsed in their chair, completely satisfied.
Then, they were informed that based on the food they had just eaten, they would be assigned different tasks. The more sumptuous the meal, the more challenging the task.
With the lessons learned from past experiences, before picking up their chopsticks, everyone unanimously looked at the host.
Han Jiujin leisurely ate a pancake fruit by himself. It was early in the morning, and it was difficult for him to have such a good appetite. Seeing everyone looking at him, Han Jiujin wondered, “Why are you all looking at me? Aren’t you hungry?”
Zhou Ying was already hungry. He looked at Han Jiujin with a pitiful expression and said, “I dare not eat. Tell me the task first, then I’ll eat.”
Han Jiujin smiled and took another bite of his egg. “Go ahead and eat. I guarantee you, none of you will have any tasks this morning. Today is just for everyone to get to know each other, and the tasks will be relatively easy.”
Everyone expressed skepticism unanimously.
I don’t trust you, production team. You’ve tricked guests like this before.
Han Jiujin shrugged helplessly. “If you don’t trust me, there’s nothing I can do.”
But he quickly smiled again. “If you’re confident enough, don’t eat.”
The guests: “…”
They had no confidence.
Xie Wanxing took a small pancake and a plate of fruit salad and started eating. Regardless of the upcoming program, getting a good meal first was the main thing.
The other guests also picked their favorite foods.
Xie Wanxing noticed that Fu Wenshan chose very traditional Chinese breakfast items like soy milk, fried dough sticks, and rice balls, showing no concern for controlling his figure.
However, as Han Jiujin said, the program team really didn’t plan too many activities for that morning.
They just let the guests wander around the village to familiarize themselves with the terrain, with Han Jiujin acting as the tour guide.
The village itself was not large, and the population was very small. There were hardly any shops along the street. Only when they reached the end of the road could they see a small noodle shop and a small supermarket.
But perhaps because of the sparse population, the scenery here was quite good. There were mountains and sea, lush trees on the mountains, and tranquility on the sea surface, with sunlight sprinkling like golden flakes.
When Xie Wanxing passed by an intersection, he saw a group of buildings in the distance, nestled at the foot of the mountain and seemed quite dilapidated. He casually asked Han Jiujin, “What’s that over there, a school?”
Han Jiujin was taken aback for a moment, then smiled at Xie Wanxing, “You have a good eye. It is indeed a school, but it has been abandoned. There are no students anymore. Well, I shouldn’t say there are no students, there are still a few. We’ll pass by there later.”
Xie Wanxing didn’t ask further. He just found it strange that there would be students attending classes in such a dilapidated school.
It wasn’t until evening that he understood the deeper meaning behind Han Jiujin’s smile and regretted it deeply.
After touring the entire village, it was almost time for lunch.
But this time, the program team didn’t intend to let them have lunch so easily.
They all sat in a row in the courtyard, facing a long table with five plates of food neatly arranged on it, all covered so they couldn’t see what was inside.
Han Jiujin smirked and stood beside the table, introducing, “In front of you are five different lunches, but they are completely different. Which one you get depends on the question you answer. The one with the lowest score won’t have lunch.”
Xie Wanxing understood. This was a common activity. The six people would answer questions through a buzzer.
The higher the score, the better the food they would receive.
He wasn’t worried. Not to boast, but he had at least graduated with dual degrees. He wasn’t a complete academic failure, so he was confident.
“Alright, everyone, listen up. The first question: What does SpongeBob like to eat the most?”
Xie Wanxing’s smile froze on his face.
Who the hell would know such a question? Who cares what that yellow sponge likes to eat!
Next to him, Zhou Ying enthusiastically buzzed in, “Crabby Patty.”
Xie Wanxing: “…” Fine, apparently someone does know.
Fortunately, the second question returned to normal.
“Second question: In what year was the invention of movies?”
Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan almost simultaneously spoke up, “1895.”
“The third question, what is the longest mountain range in the world?”
Wu Ran answered, “The Andes Mountains.”
…
Han Jiujin asked a total of thirty questions, half of which were as nonsensical as the first one, resulting in several questions where no one answered correctly.
In the end, Fu Wenshan scored 6 points, Xie Wanxing 5 points, Wu Ran and the model Yuan Xier both scored 4 points, while Xiao Jia and Zhou Ying fared worse, with 2 points and 1 point respectively.
Zhou Ying looked tearfully at everyone receiving their portion of food, while he held onto two large white steamed buns, which were probably given out of pity by the production team.
The only question he managed to answer was about SpongeBob SquarePants.
Wu Ran teased him, “You always only read comics.”
Zhou Ying took a bite of the steamed bun in frustration, “I was a sports student before joining the company, while you were all studying, I was training.”
Meanwhile, Xie Wanxing exchanged his food with Xiao Jia out of sight of the camera.
Xiao Jia only had a bowl of bland soup noodles with a few pieces of vegetables floating on top, while Xie Wanxing’s bento box had a more balanced mix of meat, vegetables, and fruit.
When Xiao Jia hesitated, Xie Wanxing stopped her, “Aren’t you hypoglycemic? It’ll be uncomfortable if you don’t eat properly.”
It wasn’t that he was deliberately nice to anyone, but his inherent gentlemanly demeanor made him naturally gentle towards women. Having worked with Xiao Jia before, he knew that despite her fluctuating reputation, she was actually a nice girl who worked hard and didn’t resort to underhanded methods.
“Don’t worry, I’ve already talked to Han Jiujin, the camera won’t capture this,” Xie Wanxing smiled at Xiao Jia.
With his hair tied into a neat side ponytail, he looked handsome and refined, his smile towards Xiao Jia was particularly gentle.
Xiao Jia couldn’t help but stare blankly.
She didn’t refuse Xie Wanxing’s offer to exchange food, just sighed, “Xiao Xie, fortunately the company doesn’t allow me to date, otherwise with your face and such thoughtfulness, I might knock on your door in the middle of the night.”
Xie Wanxing chuckled, “What nonsense are you talking about as a young lady?”
They finished their meal with laughter and conversation. Xiao Jia didn’t finish all her food by herself, instead, she shared half of the meat with Xie Wanxing. The cameraman was busy filming Zhou Ying and Wu Ran fooling around, and Han Jiujin was also busy, and didn’t deliberately film them.
However, Fu Wenshan, while enjoying his own sumptuous meal, quietly observed Xie Wanxing’s actions towards Xiao Jia, watching the entire scene.
He saw Xiao Jia’s eyes light up when she looked at Xie Wanxing, and he inwardly sneered.
He even admired Xie Wanxing a bit.
This guy not only indulges in both meat and vegetables but also charms both men and women effortlessly, even in a variety show.
Seeing Xie Wanxing naturally help Xiao Jia brush away a grass seed from her hair, Fu Wenshan couldn’t help but snort coldly.
He didn’t know why, but seeing Xie Wanxing and Xiao Jia chatting and laughing together felt particularly irritating to him. In theory, there were many dirty things in the entertainment industry, and he had seen them all. Even if Xie Wanxing flirted openly, even if he had a threesome right in front of him, it was none of his business.
After thinking it over, he could only conclude that perhaps he had a bit of a fledgling’s jealousy towards Xie Wanxing.
After realizing this, Fu Wenshan’s mood worsened.
Who would have a fledgling’s jealousy towards such a person?
