Lin Bai trembled slightly under the dangerous aura Fu Zhiyuan emitted but still stubbornly looked at him. “I want to talk to you about Fu Chengyu.”
Fu Zhiyuan’s thin lips parted slightly. “Get lost.”
“Fu Chengyu went to trouble Shen Nanxing again recently. Aren’t you curious about why?” Lin Bai shouted loudly from behind.
Hearing Shen Nanxing’s name, Fu Zhiyuan paused mid-step. He turned back, his gaze icy cold as he warned, “If I want to know something, I’ll find out myself. I don’t need a stranger barking here!”
The word stranger shattered Lin Bai’s self-esteem into pieces. He stared at Fu Zhiyuan’s departing figure with resentment, a surge of hatred welling in his heart. It’s all your fault! Shen Nanxing, you shouldn’t even be alive! If only you didn’t exist…
Meanwhile, Fu Zhiyuan stormed forward with a face full of anger. His assistant trailed nervously behind, afraid the fury would turn toward him.
“Mr. Fu, are you satisfied with our club’s services?” The tactless lobby manager approached with a flattering smile.
The assistant was already breaking into a cold sweat for him.
Fu Zhiyuan snorted coldly and remarked bluntly, “Your club’s standards have dropped. You’re letting just anyone in now. I suggest you close down soon.”
After saying this, he strode out without looking back.
The lobby manager stood there, bewildered. “Huh? Is there some misunderstanding here?” He had a bad feeling, like his job was on the line. *Damn it, stop shaking, legs!*
After a moment, he checked the security footage and finally realized Lin Bai was the troublemaker. In their line of work, offending customers was taboo, yet Lin Bai dared to try and climb the social ladder without the ability to back it up.
In the end, Lin Bai not only got fired but also had to pay three times the breach-of-contract penalty.
—
In the car, Fu Zhiyuan sat in the back seat with an unreadable expression. He instructed the driver, “Look into what Fu Chengyu has been doing recently. Also, have someone keep an eye on him. Don’t let him get near Xingbao.”
The assistant responded, “Understood. And that person earlier—”
At the mention of Lin Bai, Fu Zhiyuan’s brows furrowed with disgust. “Keep an eye on him too. His face annoys me—I’d really like to ruin it.”
Raising the privacy screen, Fu Zhiyuan then called Shen Nanxing. His voice softened dramatically. “Wife, I miss you.”
Suppressing the urge to scold him, Shen Nanxing replied, “What are you doing?”
“Thinking about you, wife.” His voice was syrupy sweet.
Shen Nanxing scrolled through the photos the bodyguard had just sent. Snorting coldly, he asked, “Speak properly! Why were you standing so close to that person?”
Recently, Shen Nanxing had people tailing both Fu Chengyu and Lin Bai. Seeing the photos, he finally identified Lin Bai—the scheming little green tea type. He had to admit, there was indeed some resemblance between Lin Bai and himself.
The thought of Lin Bai with Fu Chengyu made Shen Nanxing feel incredibly disgusted.
Sensing something off in his wife’s tone, Fu Zhiyuan asked carefully, “Wife, what’s wrong? Who made you upset?”
“Fu Zhiyuan, I didn’t know you were so charming. Even when discussing business, people take the initiative to get close to you.” Shen Nanxing sent the photos over with a *ping*.
Fu Zhiyuan opened them and instantly panicked. “Wife, listen to me, I can explain!”
Shen Nanxing snorted and stayed silent.
“I don’t even know him! He was the one harassing me! You have no idea—I was terrified. If I hadn’t run fast enough, your husband might have lost his purity tonight!”
“Wife, how about you come with me next time to those business dinners and parties? I get scared alone.” His voice was pitiful.
The more Shen Nanxing listened, the more absurd it sounded. Him, scared? With that face, who would dare get close to him?
“Fu Zhiyuan, be serious!”
“Wife, are you jealous?” Fu Zhiyuan’s mood instantly brightened at the thought, his face glowing with delight. So my wife does care after all!
Shen Nanxing sneered, “Jealous? Please. If you’re so capable, why don’t you go hang out with that green tea instead?”
Though he said that, he couldn’t help feeling irritated while glaring at the photo.
Afraid Shen Nanxing was genuinely angry, Fu Zhiyuan quickly coaxed him. “Wife, you’re the only one in my heart. How could you be so cruel to push me toward a stranger?”
“My abs have only ever been touched by you. Now that you’ve touched me, shouldn’t you take responsibility?”
His tone was filled with exaggerated grievance.
Shen Nanxing was so furious he laughed. “What, you think you’re some chaste maiden? Touching you won’t make you lose a piece of flesh! Taking responsibility, my foot!”
Hearing his wife’s indignant tone, Fu Zhiyuan could practically picture his face—puffed cheeks, ready to explode. And most likely, he was punching a pillow for stress relief.
Adorable.
A glimmer of amusement flashed in his eyes as he spoke with a gentle, doting tone, “Wife, don’t be mad. I really don’t know that person. I didn’t even let him touch the hem of my clothes.”
“Don’t get upset over a stranger, okay?”
Shen Nanxing knew he was being a bit unreasonable, but he couldn’t help feeling angry. That shameless green tea guy… Could he be targeting Fu Zhiyuan now?
Seeing his wife’s silence, Fu Zhiyuan continued coaxing him, “Wife, how about we go on a date tomorrow?”
Shen Nanxing frowned. “No, we need to keep a low profile for now. It’s better if we don’t meet.”
Although he did want to see Fu Zhiyuan, Shen Chuanqiong had been watching him closely lately. Except for school, someone was always following him everywhere. *Sigh…*
Fu Zhiyuan sighed regretfully. “Alright then, I get it. I must be too embarrassing to be seen with. I understand, I totally understand.”
Shen Nanxing felt a wave of goosebumps. “Can you be normal for once? You’re completely breaking your image, you know that?”
“So what? That persona is for outsiders. My true self is only for my wife to see.” Fu Zhiyuan replied without a trace of shame.
Shen Nanxing coughed lightly, a teasing tone in his voice. “But I prefer the mature and reliable type. You’re way too childish—we’re not compatible.”
Hearing this, Fu Zhiyuan immediately straightened up, his expression turning serious as he deepened his voice, trying to sound more mature and magnetic. “Ahem, wife, I’m very mature and reliable.”
“Really?” Shen Nanxing clearly didn’t believe him.
“Wife, has Fu Chengyu been bothering you lately?” Fu Zhiyuan finally remembered the serious matter.
“Why? Did he run to you to complain?” Shen Nanxing frowned, thinking back to how he had someone teach Fu Chengyu a lesson last time. It had been quite satisfying.
Fu Zhiyuan silently confirmed his suspicion—Fu Chengyu had gone to Shen Nanxing, but why hadn’t his wife mentioned it to him?
Both sides fell into silence.
Shen Nanxing assumed Fu Zhiyuan was asking to defend his nephew, which only fueled his irritation. Meanwhile, Fu Zhiyuan was caught in self-doubt, wondering why Shen Nanxing hadn’t told him about such an important matter. *Does he not even see me as his boyfriend? Am I really that unimportant?*
Thinking about what Fu Chengyu had done last time, Fu Zhiyuan’s expression darkened.
“Xingbao, why didn’t you tell me?” His voice dropped, tinged with disappointment.
Shen Nanxing blinked in surprise before replying coldly, “Why should I tell you? It’s not even a big deal. Or do you think your nephew matters more than I do?”
Fu Zhiyuan panicked and quickly explained, “I was just worried you might get bullied or feel wronged. Don’t you remember last time he—”
Before he could finish, Shen Nanxing hung up the phone.
Great. Now he’s really mad.
Fu Zhiyuan frowned deeply, looking completely at a loss.
