The sound of water splashing came from the bathroom as Xia Zimu lay on the bed, playing a game. His fingers quickly moved across the screen, and every now and then, he muttered complaints. During a team battle, the jungler messed up the rhythm, causing the team to be wiped out. Xia Zimu couldn’t hold back anymore and immediately turned on his microphone, shouting angrily: “If you don’t know how to play, then don’t play! Stop messing up the rhythm!”
“Dammit, you’re playing like a bot. What kind of game is this?”
“I’ll throw some rice on the screen, even a chicken would play better than you!”
“…”
In the end, the game ended in failure. Xia Zimu angrily threw his phone and cursed repeatedly. Zhou He had just finished his shower, his hair still dripping with water. He came out to find Xia Zimu looking furious and asked, “What happened? Why are you so angry?”
“Angry from the game!” Xia Zimu gritted his teeth and replied.
Zhou He looked at him, amused, and said, “Why are you acting like a child? You let a game get to you?”
“You think I’m like you? Calm as an old dog,” Xia Zimu muttered to himself, but didn’t say it out loud. Zhou He paused as he wiped his hair, and then responded, “I’m not as stable as you say.”
At least, that’s what he thought. It wasn’t that he was emotionally stable, but that he was better at enduring and controlling his emotions.
Xia Zimu yawned, feeling sleepy. “I don’t care if you’re stable or not. Just dry your hair and come to bed. I’m about to pass out.”
Zhou He’s voice was hoarse as he replied, “Okay,” and soon finished cleaning up, joining him in bed.
The bed was large, and even with both adult men lying in it, there was still plenty of space. Xia Zimu felt the bed shake slightly, knowing that Zhou He had just laid down. Habitually, he shifted closer to him. Bathed in the moonlight from the window, Zhou He’s gaze focused on Xia Zimu’s sleeping profile, his expression full of restraint.
“Goodnight, Mu Mu.”
…
Due to his role in the play, Shen Nanxing’s popularity at school skyrocketed. These days, going to class felt overwhelming with all the attention he was getting. Some people even confessed their feelings publicly, making him resort to wearing a mask whenever he went to school.
Xie Ling even showed him a “Most Beautiful School Belle” vote ranking, and to his surprise, his photo in women’s clothes was at the top. Shen Nanxing didn’t know how to respond to that. Luckily, it was the weekend, so he didn’t have to go to school, which gave him a brief respite.
“Good boy, have you woken up?” Shen Chuanqiong knocked on Shen Nanxing’s door.
Shen Nanxing had just finished washing up and opened the door, saying, “Brother, come in.”
Shen Chuanqiong rubbed his head and apologized, “Good boy, I still have work to do during the day, so I can only take you out for a nice meal tonight.”
“It’s fine, Brother, go ahead and do what you need to do.” Shen Nanxing gave him a sympathetic look. It seemed even the CEO had to work on weekends! Shen Nanxing thought that being a salted fish right now didn’t seem too bad.
Shen Chuanqiong looked at him expectantly and said, “How about coming with me to the company?”
“To the company? What would I do there?” Shen Nanxing was surprised by the suggestion. Why would he need to go to the company for no reason?
Shen Chuanqiong coughed awkwardly and, with a pitiful expression, said, “Good boy, I haven’t seen you for days, and now I have to work overtime again. Can’t you pity me a little and keep me company?”
He didn’t want to admit that he just wanted to show off his brother.
Shen Nanxing looked at his brother acting so coy in front of him and felt a little puzzled. Why did it seem like his brother was breaking character lately? He wasn’t like this before!
“Fine, I’ll go with you to the company,” Shen Nanxing said with a helpless sigh.
“Great!” Shen Chuanqiong’s eyes gleamed with a sense of triumph. He knew that his good boy was soft-hearted and would surely agree.
After they finished eating, they headed out. Soon, the driver drove the car to the entrance of Shen Group. Shen Nanxing followed his brother into the company. The CEO’s office was on the 27th floor, and they took the exclusive elevator up together.
When they reached the 27th floor, Shen Nanxing noticed his brother had changed his demeanor. Shen Chuanqiong’s face was serious, his steps calm, and he exuded the aura of someone in a higher position. When employees greeted him, he merely nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
Shen Nanxing couldn’t help but find it amusing, seeing his brother act so differently from how he was at home. Why did it seem like his brother was pretending a little? Could it be that all CEOs put on a facade like this?
Once inside the exclusive CEO office, Shen Nanxing couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore.
“Brother, is this how you always act at work?” he asked, trying to stifle his amusement.
Shen Chuanqiong froze for a moment. “What? Is there something wrong?”
Shen Nanxing waved his hand dismissively and said seriously, “Nothing, it’s just that you really remind me of a CEO character in a drama.”
A CEO character? That sounded pretty good. Shen Chuanqiong nodded approvingly. “Good boy, you really understand me.”
Unlike Su Chen, who secretly mocked him for trying to act like a big shot. It seemed his brother was the most obedient.
With that thought, Shen Chuanqiong took out his phone and sent a message in the “Lonely Trio” group.
“Ah, whose thoughtful brother is this, still accompanying his brother to work on the weekend? Oh, it’s actually my own.”
After bragging, Shen Chuanqiong felt refreshed, and even the regret from not being able to watch Shen Nanxing’s performance earlier seemed to fade away.
Shen Nanxing relaxed on the office sofa, playing a game. This game had been recommended to him by Xia Zimu—it was a tower-pushing game. The goal was to destroy the opponent’s crystal first to win. Shen Nanxing had played a few rounds with Xia Zimu a few days ago and found it quite fun.
Just then, Shen Chuanqiong’s secretary knocked on the office door.
“Mr. Shen, these are the documents you need to review and sign today.”
Secretary Chen handed over a folder to Shen Chuanqiong.
Shen Chuanqiong flipped through the documents and nodded. “Is there anything else?”
Secretary Chen had brought the documents but was really there to satisfy her curiosity. She had overheard some employees discussing a charming and handsome younger brother who had come to the company with the CEO, and everyone was speculating about their relationship. Women are naturally gossipy, and Secretary Chen was no exception. After handing over the documents, she discreetly observed Shen Nanxing from the corner of her eye.
Shen Chuanqiong noticed she hadn’t responded and clicked his tongue, furrowing his brows. “Secretary Chen, do you have something else to say?”
Secretary Chen exclaimed, “Oh, yes, yes, Mr. Shen, there is a seminar at 10 o’clock.”
“Got it, you can leave now,” Shen Chuanqiong replied.
Secretary Chen quickly said “Okay” and was about to leave when Shen Chuanqiong called her back.
“Mr. Shen, is there something else?” Secretary Chen felt a little uneasy, sensing a chill down her back.
“Go prepare some snacks and fruit,” Shen Chuanqiong instructed.
“Alright, Mr. Shen.” Secretary Chen quickly turned and hurried off in her 7-centimeter heels.
