Xia Zimu, who had failed to confess his feelings, returned to the hall and began drinking heavily, one cup after another. Zhou He had searched most of the banquet hall before finally finding him. By now, Xia Zimu was already somewhat drunk. He looked up at Zhou He without speaking, then buried his head back into his drink.
It was then that Zhou He noticed that Xia Zimu’s mood was off—he seemed to be defeated, as if he’d suffered some kind of blow.
“Mu Mu, what’s wrong?” Zhou He reached out to touch his head, looking at him with concern.
Even though Xia Zimu was drunk, he still remembered that he hadn’t made up with Zhou He yet. His hazy eyes glared at Zhou He. “None of your business!” After saying this, he lowered his head again, muttering Shen Nanxing’s name, “Nanxing…”
Zhou He remained silent, his gaze dark as he looked at him. ‘Mu Mu, is it only Shen Nanxing you see in your eyes?’
He took the glass from Xia Zimu’s hand and softly said, “Mu Mu, stop drinking.”
Xia Zimu staggered to his feet, trying to grab the glass back. He glared at Zhou He accusingly. “Zhou He, are you bullying me too?” Now, he wasn’t even allowed to drink!
The alcohol made his head swim, and he wobbled as he walked, about to fall. Zhou He quickly supported his waist and sighed helplessly, “You’re really my ancestor.”
Even when drunk, he still couldn’t calm down and was angry at me. How could I bully you? I can’t even bear to hurt you.
Xia Zimu naturally leaned his head on Zhou He’s shoulder, grumbling, “It’s you bullying me!”
Zhou He gently pulled him into his arms, his eyes filled with affection as he looked at him. “Okay, okay, it’s all my fault.”
He reached up and gently smoothed the messy strands of Xia Zimu’s hair, then quietly asked, “Aren’t you going to confess to Nanxing? Why are you drinking alone here?”
When Xia Zimu heard Shen Nanxing’s name, his brows furrowed, and a trace of sadness flashed in his eyes. “He doesn’t seem to like me…”
Well, not confessing was a blessing in disguise!
Zhou He slightly curled the corner of his lips. “I like…”
At that moment, Xia Zimu’s phone rang. He fumbled around, leaning on Zhou He but couldn’t find his phone.
“Shut up, turn your phone off!”
Zhou He, exasperated, sighed and pulled out the phone from Xia Zimu’s coat pocket, answering it for him.
“Hello, Mr. Xia, this is regarding your reservation for the fireworks show at 8:30 PM. Will it still take place?”
Originally, Xia Zimu had planned to take Shen Nanxing to see the fireworks and confess his feelings in the romantic atmosphere of the display.
Zhou He glanced at the drunk Xia Zimu in his arms and muttered, “I didn’t know you were so romantic.”
The staff on the other end didn’t catch what Zhou He had said and asked again, “Excuse me, Mr. Xia, will it be held or canceled?”
Zhou He coldly replied, “Cancel,” and hung up the phone.
He put the phone back in Xia Zimu’s pocket and helped him leave the banquet.
Zhou He took Xia Zimu back to his apartment. After changing his shoes, he lifted Xia Zimu in his arms and placed him on the bed. He turned on the bedroom light, and the harsh white light made Xia Zimu instinctively cover his eyes, then pull the blanket over his head.
Earlier, Xia Zimu had already acted drunk in the car and almost vomited on Zhou He. After throwing up, he felt better and the alcohol had worn off significantly.
Zhou He removed the blanket and gently touched his cheek. “Mu Mu, don’t sleep yet.”
Xia Zimu, in a petulant mood, slapped his hand away and said sadly, “If you want to laugh at me, just say it.”
Zhou He laughed lightly. “How could I?”
“You still say you didn’t! I’m heartbroken, and instead of comforting me, you’re laughing!” Xia Zimu shot him a glare, then kicked him.
Zhou He, knowing the situation, pressed down on his leg and asked teasingly, “You’ve never even been in a relationship. How can you say you’re heartbroken?”
Xia Zimu felt a pang in his chest and glared at Zhou He, his teeth gritted. How had he never realized how sharp Zhou He’s words could be? He seemed to always aim straight for his heart. But deep down, he had to admit that Zhou He was right! It made him so angry!
In a fit of anger, Xia Zimu turned over, presenting the back of his head to Zhou He, a clear sign of rejecting further conversation.
Zhou He affectionately patted his head. “Mu Mu, I’ll make you some hangover soup. Drink it before you sleep.”
“Go away!”
Lying in bed, Xia Zimu wasn’t so easily defeated. He decided that he would definitely clear things up with Shen Nanxing another day. Even though he had witnessed it with his own eyes, he still couldn’t believe that Shen Nanxing and Fu Zhiyuan were really together. There might be some hidden reason behind it. Thinking of this, Xia Zimu immediately regained his energy.
When Zhou He walked in with the hangover soup, he was surprised to see Xia Zimu playing a game and looking in a good mood. “Mu Mu’s ability to heal so quickly?” Zhou He thought to himself. He handed the soup bowl to Xia Zimu and, with a familiar gesture, took the phone to play the game for him. “Mu Mu, you’re not sad anymore?”
Xia Zimu drank the warm hangover soup, feeling a wave of comfort in his stomach. He looked at Zhou He leisurely. “Sad? Not possible. I’ve already decided to confess to Nanxing again another day.”
“But it’s a pity for the fireworks show I carefully planned; it went to waste.”
“Ugh…” Zhou He froze, and the character in the game immediately stopped moving. He could no longer suppress the jealousy building inside him and looked at Xia Zimu with a possessive intensity. “All you see is Shen Nanxing, right?”
Xia Zimu was startled by Zhou He’s sudden raised voice. He looked up and met Zhou He’s fiery gaze. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked, confused.
Zhou He sneered, placed the phone on the nightstand, and slowly moved closer to Xia Zimu. A flicker of inner struggle crossed his eyes as he bitterly smiled. “Is it that you’ll only ever like Shen Nanxing in this lifetime?”
Xia Zimu was somewhat puzzled. Did Zhou He find it so hard to accept that he liked Nanxing? Could it be that Zhou He also liked Nanxing? Now, Xia Zimu understood why Zhou He had been unwilling to give him advice before. It seemed that his good brother had become a rival in love!
Looking at Zhou He, who appeared a bit sad, Xia Zimu didn’t know what to do. If he admitted that he only liked Nanxing, Zhou He would be hurt. If he denied it, he would feel frustrated himself. Both sides mattered to him. What should he choose?
Xia Zimu scratched his head in frustration and quietly asked, “Zhou He, you don’t also like Nanxing, do you?”
Zhou He was so taken aback by his utterly ridiculous reasoning that he couldn’t help but laugh. He leaned down and bit Xia Zimu’s lip. “I damn well like you!”
