“Mu Mu, what happened?” Qiao Yun asked, looking at him with concern.
“Mom, Zhou He is in trouble. I need to find him!” Xia Zimu gripped his phone tightly, his voice filled with urgency.
“You’re being reckless! What are you causing trouble for?” Xia Zhenyu scolded loudly.
“Can’t you calm down for once? Are you waiting until your leg is completely useless before you stop?” Qiao Yun shook her head disapprovingly, looking at him. “Mu Mu, I know you’re worried about Xiao He, but you can’t disregard your health!”
Xia Zimu realized he had acted impulsively. “Dad, Zhou He got into a fight and was taken to the police station. Nanxing and the others have already gone, but I’m still worried.”
Xia Zhenyu snorted. “I think you’re the one who’s worrying too much. With Zhiyuan there, what do you have to worry about? I’ll have Lao Li go check on him. You just lie down and stay put!”
Xia Zimu: “…”
He had never seen a father who wouldn’t even give his son any face…
Fu Zhiyuan had already made arrangements and entered the police station with Shen Nanxing. When they arrived, Zhou He was radiating anger, arguing fiercely with Gao An.
“You and Fu Chengyu won’t get away! You’re both murderers!”
“I’ve already told you it was Fu Chengyu who made me do it! If you want to arrest someone, go arrest him! Why are you sticking to me?” Gao An said, clearly defiant.
Zhou He gritted his teeth and spat out, “Idiot!”
“What’s going on?” Fu Zhiyuan asked sternly.
Zhou He lost his patience completely. “Uncle, if you want to ask, go ask your precious nephew! If it weren’t for him, Mu Mu wouldn’t have been hurt.”
This was also the reason why Zhou He had called Fu Zhiyuan. Since Fu Chengyu was acting like a coward, he was going to find someone who could deal with him. Fu Chengyu would never admit to instructing Gao An; instead, he would likely throw him under the bus. After all, all the evidence pointed to Gao An, and Fu Chengyu had only appeared in Gao An’s account, which couldn’t be used to convict him.
Fu Zhiyuan’s face darkened when he learned that Fu Chengyu was behind this. Shen Nanxing was equally shocked, not believing Fu Chengyu could be so vicious and even wanting to harm Xia Zimu.
Seeing the tension between them, a police officer cleared his throat. “Ahem, you must be Zhou He’s family. Here’s what happened…”
After the officer explained the entire situation, Fu Zhiyuan’s face darkened. He took out his phone and called his bodyguards, ordering them to bring Fu Chengyu over.
Fu Chengyu, caught off guard, was forcibly taken away by the bodyguards. He was confused. “What the hell, do you think you can touch me? Let go of me!”
The bodyguards, tall and burly, looked at him coldly and said, “This is Mr. Fu’s order. We’re just following it.”
Fu Chengyu was stuffed into the car. When he heard they were taking him to see Fu Zhiyuan, he felt uneasy. He hadn’t done anything recently, so why had he gotten on Fu Zhiyuan’s bad side?
Soon, the bodyguards drove to the police station. Fu Chengyu felt a sense of dread, his heart pounding. As soon as he saw Gao An’s face, his expression became panicked. He quickly tried to calm himself and said to Fu Zhiyuan, “Uncle, what’s going on?”
The moment Zhou He saw Fu Chengyu, he completely lost control. He stormed up to him, grabbing his collar, and angrily demanded, “How dare you ask what’s going on? Mu Mu is still lying in the hospital, and this is all because of you!”
“Fu Chengyu, you bastard!”
As Zhou He’s fist was about to land on Fu Chengyu’s face, Shen Nanxing couldn’t hold back anymore and rushed forward to stop him. “Zhou He, don’t be impulsive!”
Fu Chengyu, feeling frustrated, shouted at Zhou He, “What do you mean by ‘I did this’? Tell me, what exactly did I do?”
Zhou He, seeing Fu Chengyu’s unrepentant attitude, pointed at Gao An in the corner. “He confessed everything. What else is there to explain?”
Fu Zhiyuan, seeing them getting into a scuffle, felt troubled and shouted, “Enough! If you want to fight, go outside! This is the police station; let the police handle everything!”
Zhou He reluctantly released his grip.
Fu Zhiyuan’s underlying message was clear: he could beat up Fu Chengyu, but he should find a secluded place to do it. Fu Chengyu’s face turned pale upon hearing this. While other families supported their nephews, Fu Zhiyuan, on the other hand, was directly handing his nephew over to someone else to beat up.
The police officer went over the case procedure again. When Fu Chengyu and Gao An confronted each other, Fu Chengyu adamantly denied any involvement in the matter. He admitted that he had invited Gao An for a meal and that Summer Zimu’s name had come up during the conversation, but he claimed to have said nothing else. He even challenged Gao An to provide evidence. Gao An had neither a recording of their conversation nor any chat records between them. Furthermore, after Xia Zimu’s incident, Fu Chengyu hadn’t even paid Gao An for his services, leaving Gao An unable to defend himself. Any attempt at further justification was in vain.
Instead, Fu Chengyu continued to insist that Gao An was slandering him and ruining his reputation, even threatening to sue him, which infuriated Gao An. It was clear that in the power struggles of wealthy families, the only ones who suffer were the powerless ordinary people.
In the end, Gao An was detained for attempted murder. Fu Chengyu, however, was only warned by the police due to a lack of evidence.
After leaving the police station, Fu Chengyu’s punishment had only just begun. Zhou He wasn’t surprised by the outcome. What he wanted was Fu Zhiyuan’s attitude on the matter—specifically, the Fu family’s stance on this issue.
Fu Chengyu trailed behind Fu Zhiyuan, head lowered like a frightened quail, too scared to meet Zhou He’s gaze. Zhou He’s eyes were like a sharp sword piercing his back, filled with a chilling intensity.
At that moment, Shen Nanxing broke the silence. “You should go back to the hospital and check on Xia Zimu. He’s really worried about you.”
Thinking of Xia Zimu, Zhou He slowly withdrew his gaze, a flash of hatred passing through his eyes. “Fu Chengyu, I will never let you get away with this so easily! I’ll make sure you’re ruined, losing everything you have right now!”
…
When they arrived at the Fu family’s old mansion, Fu Zhiyuan could no longer suppress his fury and kicked Fu Chengyu to the ground. “Fu Chengyu, are you out of your mind? How could you do something so vicious? Just because you have the Fu surname doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want!”
“Look at the mess you’ve made!!!”
