Chapter 43: Does He Really Like Me?
Many adults might not be able to stay true to their hearts after experiencing a change in their life circumstances at such a young age.
Especially since, after bringing her back, the Jian family didn’t send Jian Ning away, instead, they treated Jian Yao, the real daughter, as the second daughter, and nurtured Jian Ning as the heir.
If this had happened in any other family, it would have led to a drama of sisters turning against each other.
Jian Yao chewed the powder in her mouth, wondering why Gu Zhiyan suddenly said that.
Are these the children raised in a big family?
They praise people at any time, and they do it without changing their expressions.
Jian Yao held her chopsticks, embarrassed by Gu Zhiyan’s praise, and looked away with flickering eyes, “Right? I think so too.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Gu Zhiyan’s phone rang.
He took out his phone and glanced at the caller ID. It was from the old house. He didn’t avoid Jian Yao, he directly answered the call and put it on speaker.
As soon as the call connected, his grandmother’s voice came through the phone.
“You little rascal, you got married with Yaoyao without telling the family?”
“Don’t think that Yaoyao’s parents aren’t here, so you can fool her. If I find out you’re bullying her, I’ll break your legs!”
Gu Zhiyan coughed lightly, raised his eyelids and glanced at Jian Yao opposite him, “Grandma, Yaoyao is here, I’ve put it on speaker, can you give me some face?”
Who is the real child?
They’ve only met twice, and now the granddaughter has become the real child, and he’s become the outsider?
Jian Yao heard Gu Zhiyan mention her, and immediately called out sweetly, “Grandma.”
As soon as she heard Jian Yao was there, the voice on the other side immediately softened.
“Yaoyao is here too, are you tired from streaming for so long? Did that little rascal Ayan trick you? How can you get married so casually?”
Listening to the old lady’s deliberately softened voice, Jian Yao also unconsciously softened her voice, her gaze swept across the lazy and relaxed Gu Zhiyan opposite her, and she softly explained.
“Grandma, I proposed the marriage certificate, Ayan didn’t trick me, you don’t have to blame him.”
Jian Yao’s “Ayan” was following Old Lady Gu’s call, and she didn’t even notice when she called out.
Of course, she didn’t see the person opposite her freeze for a moment when he heard this address, then he curled his lips into a happy arc.
The old lady heard that Jian Yao proposed the marriage certificate, and her voice was filled with more relief, “You two have a good relationship, Grandma is relieved.”
“When are you coming back to the old house to accompany Grandma? Grandma will cook you something delicious.”
Jian Yao looked at Gu Zhiyan, she had time anytime, coming back to the old house depended on his time.
Gu Zhiyan felt Jian Yao’s gaze, his back straightened slightly, he leaned closer to the receiver, “Grandma, we are busy streaming these days, we will go back to see you after we finish these days.”
As soon as he heard Gu Zhiyan’s voice, Old Lady Gu’s voice immediately became cold, with a hint of disdain, “I don’t care if you like games, but don’t tire Yaoyao, or I’ll tear down your broken club!”
After warning her grandson, Old Lady Gu immediately smiled and said goodbye to Jian Yao, “Yaoyao, it’s too late today, Grandma won’t disturb you two, I’ll hang up!”
Jian Yao sighed, “Good night, Grandma!”
After the call ended, Gu Zhiyan sighed softly opposite her, “You just came, and I’m already out of favor.”
Jian Yao looked at the powder in front of her and the peeled crayfish that Gu Zhiyan had peeled, and then looked at the phone that had just hung up.
Compared to Gu Zhiyan who was empty-handed.
She couldn’t comfort people, so she picked up two skewers of mutton and put them on Gu Zhiyan’s plate out of conscience, “Eat them while they’re hot.”
Mutton skewers will not taste good if they get cold.
Gu Zhiyan bit the mutton skewers, taking advantage of the situation, “Although I prefer beef skewers, mutton skewers are actually okay.”
Jian Yao: …
She reached out and took back the other skewer of mutton and put it in her own bowl, then grabbed a handful of beef skewers and put them in front of him.
Here you go, all yours, no need to settle…
The room Gu Zhiyan arranged for Jian Yao was the guest room, separated from his master bedroom by only a wall.
The room was tidy, with all the necessities for daily life.
Gu Zhiyan, to avoid any misunderstandings, did not enter the room. He stood lazily at the doorway, holding a set of pajamas in his hand. “I don’t have any women’s clothes here. This set of pajamas is new, never worn, just washed and dried. If you don’t mind, you can make do with it.”
Jian Yao took the pajamas, her ears turning slightly red. “I don’t mind.”
It was already late, Gu Zhiyan didn’t linger, he left after handing her the pajamas.
As the door closed, Jian Yao looked at the antique-style room in front of her, finally feeling a sense of reality.
She had actually moved into Gu Zhiyan’s house so easily?
And, the whole courtyard, it was just her and Gu Zhiyan?
“Ah!”
Jian Yao let out a low cry, throwing herself onto the bed and rolling around.
It was already late at night, but she wasn’t sleepy at all.
She picked up her phone, ready to bother Xu Si, but as soon as she turned it on, she saw a long string of messages from Xu Si, which she hadn’t seen.
“Girl, you’re doing great, I saw the live stream.”
“You dare say he likes men again?”
“He might actually be interested in you, his temper is so good, you know how many girls he’s made cry before?”
“It’s been fifteen years, I finally got your CP.”
“Tell you some good news, Lu Chengze is starting to deal with his properties and cars to protect the Liu siblings.”
“I warn you, Jian Yao, if you dare to eat the grass back, we’ll break up, I can’t afford to lose face.”
The messages were endless.
Jian Yao read them carefully one by one, then replied one by one.
This was their unspoken understanding for years, chatting didn’t have to be real-time, just leave messages in the chat box, the other person would reply when they saw it.
It might not be timely, but there would always be a response.
After replying to the messages, Jian Yao’s gaze swept over the news of Lu Chengze selling his properties and cars for the Liu siblings, finally stopping at the words “He might actually be interested in you.”
Looking at the way Gu Zhiyan and Pei Yi interacted today, it didn’t seem like the relationship she imagined.
And, usually.
People who like boys are more resistant to girls approaching them, it’s an instinctive, uncontrollable reflex.
But she didn’t sense any rejection or distance from Gu Zhiyan at all.
Jian Yao held her phone, recalling Gu Zhiyan’s thoughtfulness towards her.
Could it be…
Does he really like me?
When this thought popped into Jian Yao’s mind, she couldn’t help but scold herself: Stop being delusional!
What kind of outstanding girl hasn’t Gu Zhiyan seen?
Even if he’s straight, he wouldn’t look at her!
Besides, they’ve been classmates for years, Gu Zhiyan barely interacted with her, how could he possibly like her?
The internet says that judging whether a guy likes you is actually very simple, just see if he’s looking for you.
Seven years of high school and college, if Gu Zhiyan was interested in her, how could he have endured for seven years?
Jian Yao raised her hand and patted her face, trying to wake herself up, then put down her phone and went to wash up.
