Chapter 70: Why Don’t We Live Together?
Since Gu Zhiyan had to go to work, Jian Yao and he didn’t stay at the old house for long after dinner.
However, there was an extra person in the car on the way back.
Aunt Wang.
The same aunt who had brought Jian Yao chicken soup last time.
She had been by the old lady’s side for over twenty years, was efficient and tidy, and an excellent cook.
The old lady felt that Gu Zhiyan was too busy to take good care of Jian Yao, so she specifically asked Aunt Wang to come over and cook for them, and to clean regularly.
To avoid disrupting their daily lives, she had already prepared a new house near their home, trying her best not to disturb the young couple.
Gu Zhiyan was still driving on the way back. He first dropped Aunt Wang off at her new residence before heading back to Gu Garden.
Jian Yao returned from the old house with a bunch of gifts and boxes. Gu Zhiyan helped her carry most of them, leaving only a small bag containing red envelopes for her.
Their bedrooms were next to each other. He took care of Jian Yao’s pace, escorting her to the bedroom door and then gentlemanly placing the gift boxes on a nearby table.
After doing this, he didn’t leave immediately, but looked at Jian Yao with some apology, “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect Grandma to ask Aunt Wang to come over. If you’re not used to it, I can tell Aunt Wang not to worry about this bedroom.”
The Jian family also had servants, so Jian Yao didn’t mind Aunt Wang coming. Besides, she was only cooking and cleaning regularly, the old lady had no ill intentions.
However, after Gu Zhiyan said this, she realized another problem.
She and Gu Zhiyan were currently sleeping in separate rooms!
What if Aunt Wang saw that they weren’t actually living in the same room, wouldn’t their fake marriage be exposed immediately?
Gu Zhiyan had collaborated with her for the sake of his grandmother, and Aunt Wang was the old lady’s trusted person…
Jian Yao felt a headache coming on, “If we don’t let Aunt Wang clean the bedroom, she will definitely be suspicious.”
She looked up at Gu Zhiyan with a complicated expression, “Moreover, haven’t you noticed a more serious problem?”
“If we let Aunt Wang come in to clean, she will immediately discover that we are not actually living together.”
She sighed lightly.
Now, it was a problem whether or not to let Aunt Wang clean the bedroom, a dilemma.
She had only been thinking about not disappointing her grandmother, but she hadn’t considered this. She should have refused earlier.
Gu Zhiyan cooperated with a troubled expression, as if he had just noticed the problem, “Why don’t I go and tell Grandma now to let Aunt Wang go back?”
Jian Yao shook her head like a rattle drum when she heard this, “No, no.”
Grandma was kindly taking care of them, so she had brought over her most trusted Aunt Wang.
Besides, the old lady had already considered everything carefully. If she had refused earlier, it would be okay. But now that she had already brought Aunt Wang over, sending her back would be slapping Grandma in the face.
She absolutely couldn’t send Aunt Wang back.
Jian Yao puffed out her cheeks, looking serious, “Grandma will be sad.”
Gu Zhiyan looked down at her fair cheeks, seeming a little troubled, “Then what should we do?”
His tone was questioning, but his eyes clearly flashed a hint of hidden amusement.
Jian Yao held the bag in her hand, which contained a thick stack of red envelopes. It seemed like she had made a decision, her silver teeth clenched, with a bit of a reckless attitude.
“Why don’t we live together?”
As soon as she finished speaking, her face turned completely red, and she hurriedly explained, “I don’t mean anything else, I’m just fulfilling our agreement.”
Not exposing their fake marriage in front of her grandmother was her responsibility.
Besides, Gu Zhiyan and the Gu family had given her so much, she had to fulfill her responsibilities properly.
After she finished speaking, she nodded heavily, not sure if she was convincing herself or Gu Zhiyan, “Yes, that’s it.”
There was absolutely no other meaning!
Gu Zhiyan looked at her with serious eyes, his voice drawn out as he softly said, “Oh, of course.”
He leaned forward slightly to meet Jian Yao’s gaze, his dark eyes filled with a smile, shining brightly. “Then, the hardworking Mrs. Gu, when are you planning to move in?”
Those eyes were too bright, too scorching, Jian Yao couldn’t help but take a step back, her voice stammering, “Se…see when you have time, I…I can.”
Gu Zhiyan nodded knowingly, raised his wrist to check his watch, his tone lazy and casual, “That’s great, I happen to have time this morning, why don’t you move in now?”
Jian Yao: ???
Jian Yao looked at him suspiciously, “You didn’t say that at the old house.”
He said he was in a hurry to go to work and couldn’t stay at the old house for long.
Gu Zhiyan wasn’t flustered when he was exposed, he raised an eyebrow and said, “I’m the CEO of Yao Guang, I have the right to explain everything.”
Jian Yao: …
She felt like she was being tricked, but she had no evidence.
In the afternoon, at the Yao Guang CEO’s office.
Pei Yi pulled over a chair and sat opposite Gu Zhiyan’s desk, his hands resting on his chin as he narrowed his long, narrow phoenix eyes, looking at the man opposite him with certainty, “You’re not right.”
He was like playing a single-player game looking for differences, using the method of elimination to eliminate one by one.
His clothing style hadn’t changed, his hairstyle hadn’t changed, his expression hadn’t changed, and the person… hadn’t changed?
Pei Yi “tsk”ed, tapping his fingers on the desk, “Nothing’s changed, why does your whole body radiate… a spring-has-sprung vibe?”
He racked his brains to come up with such a description that wouldn’t be easily attacked.
Gu Zhiyan finished signing the last document in his hand, finally bothering to lift his eyelids and glance at him, “Get out.”
Pei Yi was swept away by his gaze, slapped the table with his hand, “I know what’s wrong.”
“It’s your eyes, and your tone.”
Normally, when he was impatient, the look in his eyes was like he was going to scrape a layer of skin off you, and today it was cold, but not aggressive.
Even the tone of his voice telling him to get out was gentler.
Pei Yi gave Gu Zhiyan a suggestive wink, his tone a little bit nasty, “Seems like things are going well with your sister-in-law, how far have you gone?”
Gu Zhiyan threw the signed documents at him, “Since you’re so free, go ahead and send these signed documents out.”
Pei Yi caught the documents that almost hit him in the face, carefully touching his face, almost jumping up and down.
“Do you know how precious my face is? It’s completely won the genetic lottery, it’s rare and precious, if you smash it for me, I’ll never forgive you!”
Gu Zhiyan raised his eyes to look at him, the veins on his forehead twitched, he couldn’t take it anymore, “If you keep chattering, believe me, I’ll send you back to the Pei family.”
Old Master Pei always felt that Pei Yi playing e-sports was a waste of time, and he was always trying to figure out how to get him back.
If it wasn’t for Gu Zhiyan, Pei Yi would have been dragged back hundreds of times.
Sure enough, as soon as he heard the words “Pei family,” Pei Yi immediately shut up, raising his hands in surrender, “Okay, okay, let’s talk about business.”
“I found out about Liu Yiyi.”
