Chapter 85: You Can Cut in Line Anytime With Me
This time, Gu Zhiyan held a temporary meeting, which was quite urgent. He knew that Jian Yao came to the company to deliver lunch for him, and he had already shortened the meeting time as much as possible, but it still took a lot of time.
Seeing her with a sad expression, Gu Zhiyan sat down beside her.
“Were you waiting anxiously?”
Jian Yao put down her hand that was rubbing her face and shook her head. She felt that compared to Gu Zhiyan, who was busy with official matters, she really didn’t have the face to say she was tired.
“Did I cause you any trouble?”
She should have asked first before coming. It seemed like she disrupted Gu Zhiyan’s work schedule.
Gu Zhiyan raised his eyes, his gaze directly meeting hers, “How could that be? You can cut in line anytime with me.”
Jian Yao paused, turning her head in bewilderment to look at the person beside her, her heart feeling like it was gently bumped by something.
His brows were clear, his voice low, paired with that invincible face, he truly had the capital to make people’s hearts flutter.
Jian Yao just accidentally bumped into his gaze, and her whole being felt like it was being sucked into his eyes.
She coughed lightly, turned her head away, and raised her chin, gesturing for him to look at her desk.
“It’s just that you seem very busy.”
Since entering, Gu Zhiyan’s attention had been solely on Jian Yao, and he hadn’t noticed the abnormality on his desk.
Hearing this, he followed her gaze.
When his eyes fell upon the files that could almost be described as a mountain, his eyebrows slightly raised.
Oh, wow!
He also learned for the first time that he had so many files to deal with.
He got up and casually picked up a folder and flipped through it.
Wow!
Even things like the personnel department’s attendance records from last month were sent to him. It was truly hard work for them.
He closed the folder, glanced at Jian Yao, then raised his hand to look at his watch, “It’s just lunchtime, let me take you to our company cafeteria.”
When Jian Yao heard him naturally say the words “our,” she blinked and softly reminded him, “But I brought lunch!”
Gu Zhiyan shook the files in his hand, chuckled, “Don’t you understand? They are just pretending.”
Jian Yao was stunned, realizing it belatedly, “You mean they came here specifically to see me?”
Gu Zhiyan put down the files in his hand, picked up the food box with one hand, and held Jian Yao’s hand with the other, “Yes.”
“Since they are so curious, let’s satisfy their curiosity completely.”
Yao Guang was very wealthy and had a building in the center of Beijing that belonged to them.
The entire 22nd floor was dedicated to being the employee cafeteria.
It was lunchtime, the cafeteria food was good, and three meals a day were provided for free. Many employees even ate at the company before leaving if they weren’t working overtime, let alone at noon.
It could be described as a sea of people.
Jian Yao was led by Gu Zhiyan towards his designated seat, receiving countless stares along the way.
She even heard the “click” of many phones taking pictures.
Jian Yao had never experienced such a scene before, and she nervously held Gu Zhiyan’s hand, her palms slightly sweaty.
Gu Zhiyan noticed her nervousness, rubbed his fingertips against her palm, and whispered, “You need to get used to this kind of scene. Don’t be nervous. If you like someone, talk to them more. If you don’t like someone, just ignore them.”
Jian Yao looked at Gu Zhiyan, instantly understanding his meaning, and nodded lightly.
Gu Zhiyan was reminding her that as a member of the Gu family, no matter what occasion she appeared in, she would be the center of attention.
Jian Yao needed to learn to adapt to this change in identity, but she didn’t need to force herself. With him by her side, she had the confidence to not give face to anyone.
She didn’t need to be nervous, afraid, she just needed to be herself.
Jian Yao took a deep breath, and when she looked up again, the restrained expression on her face had disappeared, and she gave a sweet smile to those looking at her.
“Wow!”
Everyone gasped at her smile.
The sound of “click, click” became more frequent.
“The wife is so beautiful!”
“I declare, I’m giving up on the Gu Pei CP. The evil CP can’t compare to the real deal!”
“Me too, me too. Didn’t you see how Gu always held his wife’s hand? They were whispering just now, I can’t get enough of it!”
“What’s that? During the meeting just now, Gu told us to hurry up, I was so nervous when I reported that I didn’t even dare to take a deep breath. I almost passed out from lack of oxygen after I finished reporting…”
There were many people in the cafeteria, and Jian Yao couldn’t hear what they were saying, but she could guess a little.
She had just wanted to simply deliver lunch to Gu Zhiyan, she didn’t expect to show her face in front of the company’s employees, and she hadn’t prepared anything in advance.
She thought for a moment and said loudly, “Hello everyone, this is the first time I’ve met you, and I didn’t bring any gifts. I’ll treat you all to afternoon tea this afternoon, don’t be shy!”
Yao Guang, as a game company, its employees are almost all young people, just at the age of being lively and enthusiastic.
They were originally being careful, afraid of scaring the wife, but when they heard that she was going to treat them to afternoon tea, they immediately cheered.
“Thank you, Mrs. Gu!”
“Mrs. Gu is so beautiful!”
“We will definitely help Mrs. Gu keep an eye on Gu, we guarantee that there won’t even be a female mosquito near him!”
…
Amidst the chaotic cheers, the last sentence was particularly loud.
Gu Zhiyan tugged at his lips, leaned down and whispered in Jian Yao’s ear, “My wife is still more charming, I pay them monthly, and you can buy them off with one afternoon tea.”
Jian Yao proudly raised her chin and hummed, “Of course.”
The smile on Gu Zhiyan’s face deepened, he raised his head and said loudly, “Since my wife has spoken, I’ll also show my appreciation.”
“Company dinner tonight, you can choose the location and send it to Assistant Xu.”
In the cafeteria, everyone “aoo” in unison, almost blowing the roof off.
“Long live Gu!”
“Gu, may you live a long and happy life!”
…
Considering the large number of people, and because it was a last-minute decision, the upper management of each department unanimously decided to have dinner at a star-rated hotel under the Gu Group, which would be convenient for arrangements.
Of course, they could swear to heaven that it wasn’t because that restaurant was the most expensive!
Hee hee!
The entire afternoon, the employees of Yao Guang’s various departments were restless, their eyes glued to the clock in the office.
Their excitement was comparable to the day before a long holiday during National Day or Chinese New Year.
Even Assistant Xu, who was always calm and composed, couldn’t help but keep checking the time.
Damn clock! Hurry up and go!
In the president’s office, Jian Yao was holding a small dessert that the company cafeteria chef had specially made for her, leisurely reading a book she had pulled off Gu Zhiyan’s bookshelf.
When Gu Zhiyan sighed for the umpteenth time, she finally couldn’t help but turn her head to look at him.
“What’s wrong?”
He kept sighing.
Gu Zhiyan held the pen in his hand, his eyes filled with resentment as he looked at Jian Yao, who was completely oblivious, and sighed again.
“You’re distracting me.”
Jian Yao: ???
She wasn’t even moving, she was lying on the sofa!
How could she be distracting him, for heaven’s sake!
