Chapter 45: You Can’t Beat Me Now
Jian Hongyou clung tightly to Yu Nanzheng, her eyes fixed on the TV screen, her face tense.
Yu Nanzheng looked down at the slender jade fingers wrapped around his arm, his gaze deepening.
He wished Jian Hongyou would keep holding onto him like this, never letting go.
He didn’t know what was playing on TV; his eyes were only on Jian Hongyou. The way she furrowed her brows, the way she bit her lip in nervousness.
Every movement was so vivid.
…
“Finally finished.”
Jian Hongyou let out a long sigh of relief.
She had watched this horror film several times but never managed to finish it. Every time, she’d get scared halfway through and stop.
Today, with Yu Nanzheng by her side, she finally made it to the end.
“Yu Nanzheng, was it good?”
“Good.”
Yu Nanzheng answered casually, though he hadn’t actually watched it.
Jian Hongyou pushed him away.
Yu Nanzheng chuckled, “Used and discarded, so heartless!”
“Right, you’re no longer useful.”
Jian Hongyou glanced at the sky outside, “Why are you back so late? Did you drink?”
Yu Nanzheng leaned close, blowing a breath on her.
He smiled wickedly.
“Can you smell the alcohol?”
Jian Hongyou waved her hand, disgusted, “You stink!”
Yu Nanzheng seemed to enjoy teasing her, leaning in to blow a few more breaths on her.
“Your nose is broken, smell again.”
Jian Hongyou kept backing away, “Yu Nanzheng, get away from me, stop farting on me!”
Yu Nanzheng: “…”
“Jian Hongyou, you’re so vulgar!”
Jian Hongyou settled into a corner of the sofa, extending one leg to block his chest.
“Don’t come any closer, I have even more vulgar things to say.”
Yu Nanzheng lowered his head and grabbed her white, delicate foot.
Jian Hongyou’s feet were beautiful, fair and smooth.
They contrasted sharply with his hands.
He loved sports. While abroad, he often played surfing, rock climbing, cycling, tennis, etc.
His skin was tanned a light brown.
Jian Hongyou felt embarrassed with her foot held by Yu Nanzheng, trying to pull it back.
But Yu Nanzheng wouldn’t let go.
“Let go!”
“No!”
“Yu Nanzheng, be careful, I’ll beat you up.”
Yu Nanzheng chuckled softly, his voice sensual and deep, pleasing to the ear.
It tempted Jian Hongyou’s already flustered heart.
She raised her other foot and kicked Yu Nanzheng, but he caught it as well.
Yu Nanzheng’s smile grew even more wicked.
He stated a fact, “You can’t beat me now.”
Jian Hongyou knew this was precisely what angered her.
Men and women were inherently different in strength. She was no match for Yu Nanzheng now. “Yu Nanzheng, I’m telling you, don’t mess with women. When a woman gets angry, it’s not something you can handle.”
“Oh? I’d love to see how you get angry.”
Yu Nanzheng loosened his grip, and Jian Hongyou leaped up, straddling him.
In the dimly lit living room, Jian Hongyou pinned Yu Nanzheng beneath her.
“Yu Nanzheng, I’m warning you, don’t mess with me!”
Yu Nanzheng laughed, reaching for her waist, ignoring her warning.
Jian Hongyou found his laughter irritating, a surge of frustration building within her.
She rolled off him, put on her shoes, and ran upstairs.
Yu Nanzheng sat up, a satisfied smile on his face.
Back in her room, Jian Hongyou threw herself onto the bed, feeling dejected.
To make matters worse, she dreamed of kissing Yu Nanzheng again that night.
The feeling was so real, she could feel the soft touch.
In her dream, she enjoyed it, and even… took the initiative.
After waking up, she felt terrible.
She called Sister Wang.
“When are we leaving for the Nancheng event?”
“No rush, tomorrow is fine. Spend some quality time with Yu Shao.”
“Leave this afternoon!”
“Huh?”
Sister Wang couldn’t understand.
Newly married couples usually cling to each other, and Jian Hongyou and Yu Shao had been apart for over three months. They should be eager to be together after their separation.
What was going on?
“Youyou, did you fight with Yu Shao? Oh, it’s normal for couples to fight, just roll in the hay and everything will be fine.”
Jian Hongyou groaned.
Her mind was in a mess. She had just woken up from a dream, and Sister Wang was saying these outrageous things.
She felt hot all over, parched and dry.
This feeling of being out of control made her want to escape.
“Sister Wang, we didn’t fight. I just want to see the sea.”
Nancheng was a coastal city, a tourist destination.
Sister Wang didn’t argue, saying, “I’ll book the tickets.”
At Beijing Airport, Xiaoshui pushed her luggage behind Jian Hongyou, her face gloomy.
They had planned a two-day break, but a phone call interrupted it.
Jian Hongyou glanced at her.
“I’ll take you to see the sea later, treat you to seafood.”
Xiaoshui’s eyes lit up, and she instantly perked up, full of energy.
“Youyou Jie, I love you, I love you!”
Jian Hongyou wore oversized sunglasses, her red lips curving upwards.
Two hours later, they arrived in Nancheng.
After checking into the hotel, they changed clothes, applied sunscreen, and put on sun hats before heading out.
The hotel was right by the sea. They could see the ocean as soon as they stepped out.
Jian Hongyou wore a long dress, walking barefoot on the soft sand, laughing happily.
Xiaoshui thought her goddess was too beautiful, quickly taking out her phone to take pictures.
Xiaoshui’s photography skills were excellent, and combined with Jian Hongyou’s beauty, every photo looked like a blockbuster.
Xiaoshui could already imagine posting these photos online, with fans fawning over them.
Yu Nanzheng had set up notifications for Jian Hongyou’s Weibo. As soon as she posted something, he would receive a notification.
When he saw those beautiful and moving beach photos, he realized Jian Hongyou had left without telling him.
His face darkened, unhappy.
Han Guang, who was reporting work, could sense the gloom in his demeanor.
“Mr. Yu, the resort project in Nancheng will start soon. We need to send someone from headquarters to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. Who do you think is suitable?”
“I’ll go.”
Han Guang was taken aback, then reminded him, “But you have a full schedule for the next week. You have meetings with clients from overseas tomorrow and the day after, and you’re flying to Hai City for a summit forum the day after that.”
“You handle the reception. I’ll go to Nancheng for the groundbreaking ceremony, then fly directly to Hai City from there. Send Assistant Zhou with me.”
“Understood.”
After leaving Yu Nanzheng’s office, Han Guang saw Jian Hongyou’s Weibo and understood why Mr. Yu insisted on going to Nancheng.
It turned out he was chasing his wife.
Tang Zazan called Jian Hongyou.
“Youyou, where are you?”
“Nancheng.”
“Ah? You left so quickly!”
“Yeah, there’s a brand event here, I’m here to make an appearance.”
“I want to see the sea too.”
“Come here then, it’s just a plane ticket.”
“Right!”
Tang Zazan immediately jumped out of bed.
“Youyou, wait for me, I’ll come find you.”
Jian Hongyou looked at the hung-up phone and smiled.
Tang Zazan dragged her suitcase out of the airport and suddenly saw a tall, handsome figure.
Before she could get a clear look, the figure bent down and got into a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
“Youyou, I think I saw your husband.”
