Chapter 214 Irish Town Ⅱ (End) Watson & Wang Xue: Did Maria/Sister Jing just… split the sea in half?

     “Break fate?”

     This hint was really obvious.

Ye Mo and the other three did not belong to this world, their fates had little to do with Avalon. But those they encountered who had been toyed with by fate were deeply connected to it—

     The evil dragon.

Breaking the dragon’s curse was one way to shatter fate. There were two methods to lift the dragon’s curse.

The first lay within Avalon itself: slay the dragon, scatter its soul, and the curse would naturally dissolve. For the necromancer Ji Li, who had landed in Avalon, this was almost too convenient. Even if he couldn’t kill the dragon’s vengeful spirit, he could still devise a plan. The second method involved other survivors entering Avalon, using the dragon’s corpse in the Magical Beast Forest to lure the dragon out, then annihilating it in one strike.

Ji Li: “Hidden in plain sight.”

When a necromancer encountered a dragon’s soul, their first instinct would naturally to conquer it, control it, and make it serve and protect them.

He did not think of hunting the dragon, nor did he deliberately go to the island to inquire about the story of the dragon. As a result, he missed the Stone of Destiny and the opportunity to leave Avalon.

In the Irish Town II dungeon, none of the quests are particularly difficult, but they aren’t exactly simple either—they’re intricately linked, and one misstep could easily lead you into a trap.

Now, the evil dragon’s undead spirit is in Ji Li’s semi-artifact undead realm, releasing it wasn’t an issue, but they were currently in the Sacred Lake region, if they set it free here, the dragon’s spirit would immediately be expelled, forcing them to backtrack.

Wang Xue wasn’t afraid of retracing their steps. What worried her was the possibility of another deity appearing and pitting them against Ye Mo.

     This is too much!

After a moment of contemplation, Ye Mo waved her left hand and summoned the dragon’s corpse, still impaled by the Light Sword from her storage belt, dropping it beside the lakeshore in a thicket of shrubs.

She added: “Avalon only targets the undead. After the dragon possesses it, it should not be within the range of expulsion.”

     “That’s a great idea!”

     “Seems feasible.”

     “…”

After saying that, Ye Mo leaped into the air and came to the side of the evil dragon’s corpse. She grasped the sword of light in her hand and pulled it out from the sleeping evil dragon with force.

Almost at the same time, Ji Li, who was standing on the side, released the evil dragon’s ghost undead from his undead realm, almost aiming at the dragon body, allowing it to possess successfully.

The evil dragon that had just possessed the body confronted Ye Mo, who had been waiting for it for a long time, and trapped it with an illusion.

Just in case, Ye Mo didn’t use the potentially cursed demigod-level Sword of Light. Instead, she took out her own forged ultra-high-grade demon-slaying sword and slashed at the disoriented evil dragon.

     Bang!

Dark crimson blood gushed from the dragon’s abdomen as it roared in fury, spewing one black fire ball after another.

Ye Mo darted effortlessly through the onslaught, seemingly unaffected.

However, Wang Xue and Watson, who were close to the battlefield. Especially Watson were hit by the dark spiritual energy. His mind flooded with negative memories from his past, and an uncharacteristic gloom and sorrow welled up in his usually calm and gentle heart.

Noticing this, Ji Li slapped a hand on the shoulders of the brooding Watson and the agitated Wang Xue, pulling them away from the fight while drawing their negative energy into himself.

Wang Xue, having regained her calm, rubbed her temples and muttered, “So this is dark-type power? It’s really unsettling.”

     “Yeah.”

What Ji Li didn’t say was that ever since entering the first dungeon, he had been constantly battling this kind of negative energy. Its offensive power was indeed formidable. So much so that if one failed to conquer it, they would inevitably be devoured by it. Those who succumbed would ultimately become sacrifices to the darkness, just like this slaughter-crazed dragon.

Watson, however, seemed to understand his emotions. Without saying much, he reached out and patted Ji Li’s shoulder, as if to say, We’re comrades now.

Then, in silent agreement, they both turned their gazes toward Ye Mo.

In truth, Ye Mo wasn’t entirely unaffected either. She also possessed dark-type talents, and when the dark spiritual energy seeped into her body, the bone-chilling cold wasn’t exactly pleasant. But she could suppress it at lightning speed—that was what Ji Li meant by conquering it.

After more than a dozen exchanges with the dragon, only the beast was left battered and wounded, the difference in their strength was clear.

     Then, the moment arrived.

Streaks of violet lightning flashed across the sky, accompanied by thunderous roars, as Ye Mo brought her Demon-Slaying sword down upon the fallen dragon. Boom! The dragon died a second time, its vengeful spirit instantly devoured by the lightning.

     A true death.

At the same time, the magical beasts in the forest grew restless, startling the mercenaries who feared another beast tide. But after a long wait, it became clear this was not the case.

Meanwhile, in Meath City, a baby goblin was born at that very moment. A faint tremor accompanied its arrival, and its parents realized this newborn was the first goblin in a thousand years born with magical talent an earth affinity, perfectly suited to their kind.

The elder goblin came to see the child personally, trembling with excitement: “The curse is broken… the curse is broken!”

A hopeful future now lay before the goblins. At last, they could dare to challenge alchemy once more.

Back in Avalon, the dragon’s colossal body collapsed with a final, thunderous crash.

The once-clear and tranquil waters of the sacred lake suddenly began to churn. At its center, a ring of bubbling water slowly rose, lifting a round stone into the air.

The stone larger than a basketball but smaller than a soccer ball, its murky gray surface appearing both ordinary and extraordinary hovered for a moment before…

     Whoosh!

It shot straight toward Ye Mo.

The instant the Stone of Destiny landed in her grasp, the system also issued an announcement :   【Dungeon ‘Irish Town II’ Notification: Congratulations to Survivor Group ‘Wang Xue’ for successfully obtaining the semi-divine artifact *The Stone of Fal.】

【Congratulations to Survivor Group ‘Wang Xue’ for collecting all three semi-divine artifacts: The Stone of Fal, Nuada’s Silver Sword, and The Dagda’s Cauldron.】

   【Exiting dungeon… 】

Again and again, the other survivors could only think: Of course. Envy and jealousy were beyond them now, the gap was simply too vast. All that remained was awe.

Yet, there was no shortage of regret.

Arthur and Bella exchanged a resigned glance. Even after completing the King Arthur and Merlin dungeon, they still couldn’t compare to Ye Mo, how frustrating.

In an instant, the survivors in the Irish Town II dungeon vanished as abruptly as they had arrived, leaving behind a trail of legends and folktales. Among them, the bards sang most frequently of the “Eastern Continent”—a land of wonders…

No sooner had the survivors exited the dungeon than another announcement echoed in their ears:

【Global Announcement: Congratulations to Survivor ‘Jing’ for clearing the C-Rank Dungeon Noah’s Ark, rewarded with 30,000 points. Congratulations to Survivor ‘Jing’ for retaining the title of Top Survivor, rewarded with 100 free attribute points and 10,000 points.】

At this point, no one was even surprised anymore.

The gap between people in this world was just too vast. When Nüwa created humans, some were carefully molded by hand while others were just flecks of clay flicked off her whip and they were probably those haphazard splatters!

     …

Ye Mo, Watson, and Wang Xue came out of the dungeon, still wearing the clothes they had worn in the copy, but everything except the Stone of Destiny, the sword, and the magic cauldron had vanished.

Wang Xue was particularly disappointed—she’d bought so many exotic souvenirs!

The magic cauldron belonged to Watson now, while the Light Sword naturally went to Ye Mo, given her light-based talents. But what about the Stone of Destiny? After all, if not for Ji Li’s interference, obtaining it might have been much simpler for them.

Of course, Arthur’s and Bella’s teams would’ve had an easier time too. Their downfall was Ji Li seizing control of the dragon spirit ahead of them.

“This dungeon was full of surprises,” Ye Mo mused as she dialed Ji Li’s number and put the call on speaker.

The line connected almost instantly, and a familiar voice came through: “Ye Mo? Wang Xue? Watson?”

“Master Ji Li, your naming conventions are seriously inconsistent,” Wang Xue cut in, seizing the chance to introduce herself properly. “My name is Wāng Xuěqíng (汪雪晴) — ‘Wāng’ (汪) with the three-dots water radical (氵), and ‘qíng’ (晴) as in ‘qíngtiān’ (晴天, sunny day). Watson’s real name is Lín Shēng (林笙) — ‘Lín’ (林) with double trees (木木), and ‘shēng’ (笙) like the shēng flute (笙箫)..”

Ji Li corrected, “Ye Mo, Wang Xueqing, Lin Sheng—hello. My name is Ji Li (纪礼), Jì’ as in discipline(纪律), ‘Lǐ’ as in courtesy(礼貌).”

“You’re being so formal—it’s kind of embarrassing! Just call us by our codenames,” Wang Xue chuckled. “‘Jing,’ ‘Wang Xue,’ ‘Watson.'”**

     Ji Li: “…”

“Don’t mind her; that’s just how Wang Xue is,”Ye Mo said, ruffling Wang Xue’s hair. “We’re at Watson’s place now. We called to ask about the Stone of Destiny.”

“That’s up to you,” Ji Li replied. Though he hadn’t believed in fate before, his experiences had made him less dismissive. “But what exactly does the Stone of Destiny do?”

Ye Mo asked, “Do you want to come over?”

“Probably not.” Ji Li—former university lecturer—sighed. “My parents just found out about the whole ‘Survivor’ situation. With all the slip-ups I’ve made, there was no hiding it. They’re summoning me now, and I’m already on my way.”

Ye Mo responded, “We’ll send you the recorded footage. Drive safely!”

Wang Xue added emphatically, “Wouldn’t want you crashing into other cars or people.”

Watson chimed in, “Or even flowers and grass. They’re living things too.”

Ji Li: …What kind of team is this?! Feels like I’ve walked into a den of wolves.

After bidding farewell to Ji Li, the trio headed to the beach outside Watson’s villa, just to be safe. Under a sky of brilliant blue, dotted with white clouds and bathed in sunlight, the ocean stretched endlessly before them. The outdoor scenery was breathtaking.

Ye Mo took out the divine sword and the Stone of Destiny, eager to test their power.

Wang Xue performed a sword routine light-footed and effortless before slashing toward the sea. BOOM! A towering column of seawater erupted dozens of meters high, sending fish and shrimp raining onto the sand. Looks like dinner was settled for tonight.

Semi-divine artifacts didn’t come with fixed stat bonuses, and the system offered no hints about them. But this sword clearly outclassed every blade Ye Mo had ever forged for Wang Xue.

Whether in raw strength, speed, or constitution, the boost exceeded a hundred points maybe more.

Ye Mo’s eyes gleamed with excitement.

It was Ye Mo’s turn to wield the sword. She used a set of sword techniques just like Wang Xue, even the exact same techniques, but their sword styles were remarkably different.

Wang Xue was like a light and agile swallow, skilled in using softness to overcome hardness. This wasn’t to say Ye Mo lacked agility – in fact, her movements were even faster than Wang Xue’s. But where Wang Xue flowed like water, Ye Mo carried overwhelming force behind every strike.

Each of her sword strokes carried tremendous momentum, sending continuous whirlwinds of sand sweeping across the beach.

Then came the slash towards the sea.

Where Wang Xue had created a waterspout, Ye Mo’s single strike left both Wang Xue and Watson utterly speechless.

     Wait a minute—

Did Maria/Sister Jing just… split the sea in half?
