Chapter 25.1: Still underestimated the lady’s strength
Su Qingning and Xiao Huaishuo were both listening intently to the commotion outside.
Su Qingning frowned and said quietly, “There are probably a dozen highly skilled martial artists coming this way. It seems to be those who have been monitoring us since this morning.”
Xiao Huaishuo nodded slightly, “Yeah, they are about to make their move.”
“Whose people are they?”
“Unclear. Their movements seem to resemble that of the Third Prince’s Black Wind Riders.”
Su Qingning thought seriously for a moment. This incident wasn’t mentioned in the original story about the Third Prince sending people to assassinate Xiao Huaishuo, perhaps her appearance had affected the storyline.
The two resumed silence, holding their breath and waiting for the others to arrive.
Now that it was quiet, they realized how close they were to each other.
Just now, in a moment of urgency, Xiao Huaishuo had protected Su Qingning by pressing her completely underneath him.
At this moment, Su Qingning could only feel his warm breath constantly brushing against her ear, sending an electric thrill through her body, making her feel a little tingly.
The softness of her chest pressed against his solid chest, with their hearts, which were so close together, seemingly beating faster than usual.
“Whoosh…”
“Whoosh…”
There were sounds of windows being broken coming closer.
Before long, two slender black figures appeared at the window.
These two had already administered knockout powder to the nearby rooms and were now skillfully prying open the window, blowing a tube of yellowish powder inside.
Su Qingning used her mind to control the wind, directing all the powder onto the adjacent wall.
The two men in black noticed nothing unusual, retracted their tubes, and then leaped to the next room.
“Third Brother? Third Sister-in-law?”
A soft inquiry came from the other side of the bed.
Xiao Huaijin had been awakened by the commotion outside and was scanning the surroundings with sharp eyes.
Liu Qing, born into a military family, also woke up at this moment, seriously assessing the situation outside the window.
Xiao Huaishuo made a “calm down” gesture to them.
Both remained silent, quietly waiting for the next move.
After a while, a sharp signal sound came from outside.
It must have been a notification to the people outside that those in the post station had been knocked out and that they could begin their operation.
Within moments, over a dozen dark figures descended.
“Crack…”
A figure in black pried open the window and slipped inside.
Seeing that the Xiao family members were all unconscious, he sneered and said to the people outside, “You don’t need to come in. I can handle the people inside by myself.”
As soon as his words fell, a silver needle shot toward him at an unimaginable speed.
Before the black-clad men could react, they felt a sharp pain in their necks and instantly lost consciousness.
With a “thud,” they fell to the ground.
“Boss?!”
After a long silence without any response, the people outside sensed something was wrong and rushed in through the broken windows.
Before more than a dozen of them even touched the ground, they noticed dozens of flashes of silver light in the room.
Before they could react, they suddenly found a glowing blue silver needle lodged in their bodies.
Their limbs went soft, and they collapsed to the ground like dumplings, soon losing their breath.
There was a moment of silence in the room.
Xiao Huaishuo: …
Alright, he still underestimated the lady’s strength.
Expressionless, he retrieved the hidden weapons he hadn’t had a chance to use.
Xiao Huaijin:!!!
Liu Qing:!!!
