Chapter 8: I have powers, and the Great Qian strides forward!
In an instant, the hundreds of candles in the hall, the ink and paper on the table, the plaques on the walls, and even the gold powder on the columns disappeared.
At that moment, it was pitch black, and everyone panicked and fled in confusion.
In the chaos, people were stepping on each other, pulling and shouting, creating a complete mess.
“Protect the emperor! Protect the emperor!”
“Feather Guard! Why aren’t you capturing the thieves yet?”
“Come back! We don’t need so many people to catch thieves! Protect His Majesty first!”
“Ouch—who stepped on me! Ah—stop stepping on me!”
Many military generals had long been fed up with the dog emperor. Taking advantage of the darkness, they rushed forward and stepped on him a few times.
Su Qingning clapped her hands in satisfaction, hiding her accomplishments and fame.
According to the original plot, the dog emperor was worried about Xiao Huaishuo and planned to drug him with a power-reducing potion tonight. Without his martial arts and paralyzed from the waist down, Xiao Huaishuo would have a very difficult time on the road to exile.
Now that the dog emperor was preoccupied with his own troubles, he naturally had no time to deal with Xiao Huaishuo.
Watching as he and Prime Minister Su were taken away by the Imperial Guards, with eunuchs and the commander of the guards following behind, Su Qingning quickly slipped back to the Warlord’s Estate to start clearing it out.
The Xiao family had a long history of military achievements, and the royal rewards were abundant. The treasures in the storeroom were numerous beyond counting.
Since they would be searched before exile anyway, the Xiao family wouldn’t be able to take anything with them. It was better to store these things in her space first and give them to them once they arrived at their exile destination.
Su Qingning moved increasingly skillfully, quickly clearing out several rooms in the blink of an eye. She then finished clearing the storeroom and the private vaults of the Warlord’s Estate.
Little Ai in the space was also very excited, quickly categorizing the items she had collected.
While humming a little tune, the screen flickered with sparks.
Who understands the family members? They bound themselves to such a diligent host. He, as a subordinate, would also gain quite a few benefits, and when he returned home to visit relatives, he could hold his head high when talking to other subordinates!
Little Ai: Ahhh, Sister Su! Sister Su! I feel so energized right now; it seems like I’m about to level up!!
Su Qingning also felt something unusual within her, so she quickly sat down.
A surge of immense power erupted from her dantian and instantly flowed throughout her body.
Su Qingning suddenly felt a gentle breeze swirling between her fingers, and her entire body felt much lighter and more relaxed.
A pink translucent information box suddenly appeared in her mind:
【Congratulations, host! Level 2 space upgrade successful! Wind-type abilities and Level 1 space farm have been unlocked for you.】
Then another information box popped up:
【Level 3 space upgrading, current progress 10%…
Unlocking water-type abilities and Level 2 space farm soon. Please complete the stocking task as soon as possible.】
Su Qingning quickly flashed into the space and indeed saw a small farm of about 100 mu of land next to the warehouse building.
Excitedly rubbing her hands, she hurriedly instructed Little Ai to herd all the various livestock they had previously collected into the enclosure and selected some rice and vegetable seeds to plant in the empty fields.
Little Ai exerted herself with a series of “ahh, ahh” sounds, and soon hundreds of chickens, ducks, cows, and pigs were categorized and herded into different enclosures. She also dug a large pond in a corner of the farm and tossed in various fish collected from the imperial garden, the East Palace, and several ministerial residences.
With another burst of effort, a water channel surrounding the farm was quickly formed. The source of the water channel connected to a spiritual spring, allowing the spring water to flow down and automatically irrigate all the plants and rice. The old grains and stored food they had collected were piled in one place, ready to be regularly delivered to the livestock’s troughs.
In short, Su Qingning just had to speak, and Little Ai would do the work. The combination of human and subordinate made the labor effortless!
Su Qingning thought that it wouldn’t be long before she could enjoy the fruits grown with the spiritual spring water and couldn’t help but swallow.
“Little Ai, what’s the difference between Level 2 space and Level 1 space?!”
Little Ai didn’t expect this host to be so easy to
“Sister Su, Level 1 space is a small farm, and Level 2 space is a medium-sized farm with a larger area, allowing for more rice plants to be grown!”
“Ah, Sister Su! You have no idea! My space has many wonders! Stock up on supplies, and you can later unlock a seaside villa, hospitals, cinemas, advanced martial arts, and top-tier divine beasts. There’s nothing you can’t achieve with a subordinate like me!”
Little Ai’s voice was enticing, like a big bad wolf tempting a little white rabbit.
Su Qingning understood what he was calculating. It was simply that by diligently completing tasks, the system would also gain considerable benefits.
“By the way, how do I use this wind ability?”
“Ahhh! Sister Su, you must try it! This is my first time seeing this too! You can now control the wind with your thoughts!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, a strong wind swept through. Not far away, the doghouse, along with two dogs that were cuddling, was suddenly sent flying a thousand miles away with a “bang.”
The two yellow dogs that had come from the Prime Minister’s residence felt a sudden weightlessness before crashing heavily to the ground. They jumped up, baring their teeth at Su Qingning and barking angrily.
Su Qingning coldly faced them, feeling justified and strong.
“Keep barking! If you do, I’ll have dog stew for dinner tonight!”
“Woof!” The two dogs immediately wilted in spirit. With their tails between their legs, they ran away whimpering.
Su Qingning rubbed her hands in satisfaction. This skill was impressive! She could even scare people occasionally.
With a thought, as soon as Su Qingning exited the space, she heard the eunuch at the door announcing the imperial decree with a voice like a broken gong.
“Imperial edict has arrived! The Warlord and his family, come quickly to receive the decree—”
Everyone in the Warlord’s Estate was now a prisoner, and the messenger had lost the usual flattery and deference.
The sound of drums and gongs echoed loudly, trying to wake those inside quickly. In just moments, ten thousand Imperial Guards surrounded the entire estate, sealing it tight.
After a commotion, everyone exited the courtyard. Taking advantage of this brief window, Su Qingning cleaned out several rooms where the masters stayed. Only then did she follow everyone to the front hall.
As soon as she entered, she saw Xiao Huaishuo sitting at the front of the crowd.
At this moment, the sun had just peeked over the horizon, and the golden sunlight fell on his overly pale face, creating a fragmented beauty.
He remained upright in his wheelchair. Now that the dust had settled and it was clear that the Xiao family could not escape exile, he appeared much more composed and calmer. Only his vigilant eyes were fixed on the Imperial Guards, preventing them from doing anything inappropriate to the female members of the Xiao family.
The other masters of the Warlord’s Estate were also relatively calm. The servants, seeing the soldiers ready for action and with disdainful expressions, were already terrified, unable to hold back their tears.
The old matriarch of the Xiao family heavily taped her cane, sitting up straight with her eyes shining brightly.
“Everyone, be quiet! My Xiao family is filled with iron bones; we will not change our color in the face of a collapsing mountain. How can we cry over a little setback? Moreover, the eunuch hasn’t even read the imperial decree yet, so what are you all howling about?!”
No one expected that even at her advanced age, the old matriarch’s voice was as powerful as a bell, instantly silencing everyone.
Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention to her, Su Qingning slipped into the crowd and positioned herself further back. She didn’t want to kneel for that troublesome imperial decree; she would just crouch a bit behind the crowd for cover!
Seeing the crowd suddenly quiet down, Eunuch Fu felt a flash of disappointment.
If the servants of the Warlord’s Estate had stirred up a little more trouble, he could have used their lack of cooperation as an excuse to have the Imperial Guards suppress them. At that point, if a few prisoners were injured or killed, it wouldn’t be his fault. He hadn’t anticipated that this old woman, despite her age, would still have such presence. A few words from her silenced the noisy crowd.
Clearing his throat, Eunuch Fu took out the imperial edict and read aloud:
“By the will of heaven, the emperor decrees: Warlord Xiao Huaishuo, for colluding with foreign enemies and betraying the country in pursuit of personal gain, has been confirmed. Considering the Xiao family’s significant contributions, your death penalty is hereby commuted. The entire Xiao family is to be demoted to commoners. Three generations are to be exiled to the poisonous lands.
