Fu Yunshang rushed back to Xi Garden, only to find Shen Chuan lying on the massage chair in the empty living room, playing games and waiting for him.
He had specifically instructed Aunt Qiao at home to prepare a suite for Qin Buwan to rest for a few days.
Looking at Shen Chuan lying there playing leisurely, Fu Yunshang felt a surge of anger. He grabbed something and threw it over, “Where is she?!”
“Ouch! Why are you hitting people, you lovestruck old bachelor?” Shen Chuan jumped up from the chair.
Fu Yunshang’s face was frighteningly grim, and he stared at Shen Chuan without saying a word.
Shen Chuan met his gaze for a few seconds and became honest.
“Her friend picked her up, what excuse could I have to keep her?” Shen Chuan said with a sullen face, “Unfortunately, she wasn’t willing to accept your kindness. We are civilized people, not gangsters, right?”
“Besides, I called you several times, and you didn’t answer. I only returned to Xi Garden after watching them leave,” Shen Chuan continued to explain.
Fu Yunshang indeed had urgent matters early in the morning and had to leave for a few hours.
He took out his phone and glanced at it. He didn’t notice when it ran out of battery and turned on again, as he was only focused on dealing with troublesome matters and rushing back all the way.
“Give me your phone.” He reached out to Shen Chuan.
After confirming with Shen Chuan that Qin Buwan was resting at Chen Zaizai’s place, his expression improved slightly.
The two men stared at each other for a while. Shen Chuan got up, quickly packed his things, and left. There was nothing good for two men to talk about together, lest they spark a flame of love.
Fu Yunshang ignored him. He sat on the veranda, looking at the lake where Qin Buwan had fallen into the water yesterday.
After a while, he took out a small antique brocade box from his pocket.
Inside was the jade ring that Qin Buwan had lost last night.
The ring had a small chip from the fall. Fu Yunshang knew a famous master who repaired jade, and he had just rushed to the master to repair the ring. The master’s flight was early tomorrow morning to leave City A, and because of the sudden situation, Fu Yunshang immediately rushed over.
Just for a small ring, he personally drove back and forth over a hundred kilometers in just a few hours. This had never happened before.
“Unfortunately, she wasn’t willing to accept your kindness,” he recalled what Shen Chuan had just said.
Fu Yunshang couldn’t help but laugh mockingly at himself.
The cold wind in the morning was bone-chilling, making Fu Yunshang’s mind exceptionally clear at the moment.
After making such a scene last night, Qin Buwan still chose to avoid him and was unwilling to go to Xi Garden to recuperate, which already explained everything.
…
Qin Buwan and Chen Zaizai finished catching up and were just about to go to sleep when the phone next to her rang.
Qin Buwan picked it up and looked at it. It was Xu Nanhe calling.
After last night, Qin Buwan wanted to hear what ivory he could possibly spit out of his dog mouth.
She answered the call.
“Qin Buwan, do you know what happened to Zhiyu last night…” On the other end of the phone, Xu Nanhe’s voice was full of anger and anxiety.
“Get lost.”
In three seconds, Qin Buwan immediately hung up the phone and blacklisted all contact methods that Xu Nanhe could use to reach her, including Alipay.
She should have known better than to answer this call, it made her mood, which had been soothed by Chen Zaizai, worse again.
Her head was dizzy and lightheaded, she threw the phone aside and forced herself to fall asleep again.
When Qin Buwan was half asleep, she heard her phone vibrating again and again. She picked it up and looked at it.
The guidance counselor had sent her several messages: “Have you decided on the place for your graduation internship? Have you considered what I told you last time?”
Qin Buwan was stunned for a moment and struggled to sit up from the bed.
Just then, the guidance counselor called again, and Qin Buwan answered.
“Buwan, have you discussed it with your family? This opportunity is really rare, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for an exchange student at the University of Birmingham.”
Studying in the UK was not originally in Qin Buwan’s plan. She didn’t have the huge amount of money required for studying abroad, and she couldn’t get away to go abroad.
However, the University of Birmingham was a dream school for many medical students, and anyone would be tempted.
She was silent for a few seconds and replied, “Teacher, can you give me a little more time?”
The guidance counselor sighed, “I can only continue to hold the spot for you for about a month. Think it over.”
“Okay,” Qin Buwan responded.
After hanging up the phone, Qin Buwan sat blankly for a while.
Originally, she wanted to wait until after the cold war to discuss this matter with Xu Nanhe. If Yu Feiyin’s condition allowed and the surgery was successful, she would go.
But now, Xu Nanhe could no longer be relied on, and she didn’t need his help. The Qin family was even less reliable. Qin Lang had not given her a single penny for living expenses since she turned eighteen.
Perhaps, she and the University of Birmingham were really not meant to be.
On the bedside table was a constant temperature bowl with broccoli and cod porridge inside.
Qin Buwan didn’t even know when Chen Zaizai had come in.
She picked it up and took a few sips, and her strength gradually recovered.
She picked up the bowl and planned to go upstairs to find Chen Zaizai, but as she walked out of the room, she noticed something was wrong.
The house was too quiet. This villa had at least three servants, and they should be preparing dinner for Chen Zaizai at this time, but there was no sound downstairs at all.
Qin Buwan took off her slippers and quietly walked to the railing to look down. Unfortunately, she met the gaze of the person sitting in the living room downstairs.
Qin Buwan’s whole body instantly froze.
