She knew this person all too well.
“Little Uncle.” Xu Nanhe looked in the direction of the voice, his expression immediately becoming respectful.
It was Xu Nanhe’s maternal uncle, Fu Yunshang.
The man was nearly 1.85 meters tall. An overcoat that most people couldn’t pull off looked quite stylish and distinguished on him.
He stopped there, his slightly narrow, almond-shaped eyes merely glanced at Xu Nanhe, yet everyone present was intimidated into silence.
Some people are born to be the focus, the center of attention, just by standing there.
“Uncle, you don’t know, Qin Buwan went too far today, she…” Xu Nanhe frowned, trying to explain.
“Really?” Fu Yunshang chuckled softly, questioning him.
As he spoke, his gaze fell on Qin Buwan.
She stood there alone, drenched and thinly dressed. In the freezing room, not a single person thought to offer her something to wear.
In contrast, Qin Zhiyu was the center of attention, a delicate little princess.
The manager of Xi Garden scurried over to Fu Yunshang, cautiously explaining, “Master Fu, the surveillance inside is fine, so…”
“Waste, I don’t think you need to continue working here,” Fu Yunshang said, cutting him off, unwilling to listen to a bunch of useless people.
The manager’s face turned ashen.
However, given Fu Yunshang’s temperament, arguing further would likely result in a fate a hundred times worse than being fired.
The manager dared not say another word, glanced at Qin Zhiyu, and slunk away.
Qin Zhiyu, clutching her injured head, leaned against Xu Nanhe, sobbing softly.
Fu Yunshang glanced at her, finding her repulsive. Looking at the pool of blood on the floor, he seemed to despise it, as if she had dirtied his land. He frowned and said sternly to Xu Nanhe, “Get her out.”
Qin Zhiyu staggered.
Xu Nanhe, feeling sorry for her and unwilling, immediately said, “But Zhiyu suffered such a minor injury, could it be…”
“Xu Nanhe, whose fiancé are you?” Fu Yunshang interrupted coldly.
Xu Nanhe paused, realizing that he had been too concerned about Qin Zhiyu, and his words and actions were indeed inappropriate.
Qin Buwan watched them from the side, smiling self-deprecatingly. Fiancé? Xu Nanhe had probably forgotten that title long ago.
“I’ll count to three.” Fu Yunshang’s patience lasted only three seconds.
“Uncle…” Xu Nanhe felt somewhat embarrassed.
However, since childhood, Fu Yunshang had even slapped Xu Nanhe in front of others, never giving him face. Xu Nanhe’s dignity had long been trampled on by this uncle.
“Either you get out, and from today onwards, don’t you dare step into Xi Garden!”
Fu Yunshang spat out the words expressionlessly, then turned and walked towards the conference room on the other side.
Qin Zhiyu had been hit hard, and the hole in her head wouldn’t stop bleeding.
Xu Nanhe hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth, picked up Qin Zhiyu in his arms, and left Xi Garden, ignoring Qin Buwan.
Outside, it was nearly ten degrees below zero, and Qin Buwan’s face was as white as a sheet.
She stood stubbornly in place, watching Xu Nanhe leave with Qin Zhiyu, her body swaying slightly. She lost her balance and started to fall.
The expected pain didn’t come. A familiar auntie came over and put her arm around Qin Buwan, wrapping her in a coat.
Qin Buwan looked up and saw that it was the coat Fu Yunshang had been wearing.
The coat carried that familiar cologne scent that was unique to Fu Yunshang.
Qin Buwan tried to get up, but her legs gave way, her vision blurred, and she fell straight back down.
…
“Master, Miss Qin is awake,” the assistant walked over to Fu Yunshang and whispered in his ear.
Fu Yunshang looked at the time. It was just nightfall, and it seemed to be snowing heavily again.
“I’ll bring her back,” he said quietly.
“But…” the assistant hesitated.
Several women in the conference room watched Fu Yunshang with interest, as if they were enjoying a show.
No one usually dared to use Fu Yunshang’s people, especially his assistant.
Although Fu Yunshang usually fooled around with women, he never truly cared about them. He didn’t bother to coax them, and even the gifts he gave were all the same, never changing.
With his status, few women in the circle dared to provoke him. To be favored by the Little Prince Fu Yunshang for a few days was already a blessing from their ancestors.
Qin Buwan was somewhat of an exception.
Fu Yunshang swept his gaze over them, saying expressionlessly, “Spit it out.”
“Miss Qin has something to ask of you,” the assistant replied, looking embarrassed.
“She’s waiting outside.”
Everyone knew Qin Buwan’s temper. She was famous for not giving up until she hit a brick wall.
Fu Yunshang tapped the marble table with his index finger, as if considering something.
After a moment, he said to the others in the conference room, “Let’s all go back first. We’ll discuss the rest in a few days.”
Everyone got up quickly, saying nothing, but their gazes towards Fu Yunshang were somewhat ambiguous.
Rong Shen, walking at the front, turned back and smiled at Fu Yunshang, saying softly, “Think it through. She’s your future niece-in-law, the Xu family’s designated daughter-in-law.”
“Everyone here today is close to me, so even if something happens, they naturally wouldn’t tell anyone.”
Qin Buwan was beautiful, and not just ordinary beautiful.
There were two famous beauties in City A: Southern Qin and Northern Song. Southern Qin naturally referred to Qin Buwan. Her beauty, like her temper, was aggressive and not to be trifled with.
“You’re not degenerate enough to stoop that low,” Fu Yunshang paused, replying pointedly.
Qin Buwan… had also been watched over by Fu Yunshang as she grew up.
“That’s good,” Rong Shen said meaningfully, then left.
…
Fu Yunshang was busy discussing business, so Qin Buwan didn’t let anyone disturb him. She had been standing outside waiting since she woke up, from dawn until dusk.
She wasn’t trying to use a sob story, but she had run out of options.
She didn’t know how long it had been, but she saw a pair of leather shoes stop in front of her.
She looked up and saw Fu Yunshang holding a black umbrella, looking down at her.
The black umbrella in his hand tilted towards her. The corridor lights were dim, slowly outlining the contours of his meticulously sculpted face. He was dressed in a custom-made white shirt and dark suit, which made him even more noble and aloof.
She didn’t know if it was because he had helped her today or what, but Qin Buwan thought he looked even better than before.
She had never dared to look closely at his face before. She was a little afraid of him. Now, she only felt that Xu Nanhe was truly unworthy, not having inherited even a tiny bit of the Fu family’s excellent genes.
“What is it? Speak,” Fu Yunshang said, his thin lips parting slightly after a few seconds of eye contact.
Qin Buwan clenched and unclenched her hands at her sides, then, after a long while, she forced herself to say, “I want to… borrow three hundred thousand.”
Fu Yunshang’s eyebrows immediately rose slightly, somewhat surprised.
He thought it was something important, something that made Qin Buwan lower herself to ask him.
Three hundred thousand was nothing more than a dinner bill for the Qin family’s little princess.
He chuckled softly, confirming again, “Three hundred thousand?”
“Yes,” Qin Buwan was actually ashamed to say it. She had come to Xi Garden today because she heard that the Qin family was coming for dinner. She wanted to see her father, Qin Lang. She desperately needed three hundred thousand.
As a result, Qin Lang didn’t come, and she had been set up by Qin Zhiyu instead.
Fu Yunshang stared at her for a long time, then said, “Come in, it’s cold outside.”
Qin Buwan followed Fu Yunshang into a study. He took out a card from a drawer and handed it to Qin Buwan, “Take this first, tell me if you need more.”
Qin Buwan looked at the card that was handed to her. On the back of the card was Fu Yunshang’s signature, three flamboyant characters, clearly his personal card.
“I only need three hundred thousand,” Qin Buwan didn’t take it.
After she said that, she mustered the courage to look up at Fu Yunshang, “I don’t know when I’ll be able to pay Uncle back, maybe after I’ve worked for a few years, if Uncle…”
As she spoke, she raised her hand and unbuttoned her coat.
