Enticing Her at Every Step
Enticing Her at Every Step Chapter 5

Qin Buwan stopped at the door of room 601.

She raised her hand, using her sleeve to cover the wrist that had just been reddened by Xu Nanhe’s grip, adjusted her expression and emotions, and then gently pushed the door open and walked in.

“Buwan?” The person in the ward heard the slight sound of her entering and asked weakly.

“Mom, why aren’t you asleep yet?” Qin Buwan quickly walked to the bedside and asked Yu Feiyin softly.

“You were out all day, and I was worried,” Yu Feiyin coughed lightly and tried to sit up.

Qin Buwan stepped forward to support her, smiled, and replied, “I went to school today. The teacher had something urgent to discuss, and I was busy until late.”

“Was that Nanhe talking to you just now?” Yu Feiyin asked again.

“You misheard,” Qin Buwan replied.

Yu Feiyin looked at her for a long time, then asked in a low voice, “Did you two quarrel again?”

“No,” Qin Buwan replied casually.

Just as she was about to change the subject, Yu Feiyin shook her head, affirming, “You must have quarreled again.”

“I told you I went to school today and didn’t get back until late, which means we didn’t see each other today. But if it was before, it was my birthday.”

Qin Buwan was stunned, opened her mouth, but found that she didn’t know what to say.

“In the past, even if you had disagreements, Nanhe would remember to celebrate my birthday. How come after you got engaged, he doesn’t remember anymore?” Yu Feiyin reached out and grasped Qin Buwan’s left hand, stroking it heavily a few times.

Qin Buwan also wanted to know why someone who had been so good before would suddenly change their mind.

It’s not that he doesn’t remember, but that he simply doesn’t care.

“Maybe he’s too busy; he’s had a lot of surgeries lately,” she said, forcing a smile.

Yu Feiyin didn’t respond.

After a while, she sighed and said, “Your mother is practically penniless now. When you get married, I don’t have anything to support you. I only have a few pieces of jewelry left by your grandmother as dowry. After you marry into the Xu family, you can’t be as willful as before. The Xu family is a big family, and Nanhe is the youngest. He’s bound to have some temper.”

Qin Buwan pursed her lips and asked, “What if he does something wrong?”

“Nanhe is a good kid by nature. I’ve watched him grow up. Maybe he’ll make some small mistakes, but I believe it’s definitely not intentional,” Yu Feiyin said with a smile.

“Besides, your mother might leave at any time. Then, only Nanhe will protect you.”

Qin Buwan silently looked at Yu Feiyin, her throat feeling as if it was blocked by something.

She wanted to confess that she had already broken up with Xu Nanhe, but the words wouldn’t come out.

After a long while, she suppressed the bitterness in her heart and nodded, replying, “Okay, I understand.”

Yu Feiyin has bone cancer, and a bad mood will only worsen the condition, causing cancer cells to spread faster.

She cheered herself up and said to Yu Feiyin, “Today, Dr. Zhang told me that they have found a matching bone marrow for you and can perform the transplant. Maybe in half a month, you can have the surgery, at the latest in three months.”

Yu Feiyin listened to her, but her face didn’t show a trace of concern.

“No need, Mom plans to go through the discharge procedures in the next few days,” Yu Feiyin said to her gently.

“Mom, I have money,” Qin Buwan grabbed Yu Feiyin’s hand and said earnestly, “We can afford the surgery.”

“Did you ask Qin Lang for money?” Yu Feiyin immediately frowned and asked.

“No,” Qin Buwan immediately denied, “It’s not the money he gave.”

“That’s good.” Yu Feiyin was silent for a few seconds, then said, “I won’t allow you to borrow money from Qin Lang for my illness. I won’t use a penny of his money even if I die.”

Qin Buwan pursed her lips and replied, “This morning, I ran into Nanhe’s Little Uncle at the hospital. He heard that you couldn’t afford the transplant, so he asked someone to send a card over, asking you to pay him back after you graduate and start working.”

As she spoke, she took out Fu Yunshang’s card from her pocket and handed it to Yu Feiyin, “Look.”

Yu Feiyin knows Fu Yunshang.

She stared at the signature for a long time, confirming that it was Fu Yunshang’s card, and then breathed a sigh of relief, saying to Qin Buwan earnestly, “Then you must thank Little Uncle properly! Did you tell Nanhe about this? Even if you’re fighting and having a cold war, you have to tell Nanhe. The transplant fee is not a small amount.”

“Okay, I know,” Qin Buwan forced a smile.

When she walked out of the ward, Yu Feiyin was already asleep.

Qin Buwan stared blankly at Fu Yunshang’s card in her hand. Today, only Fu Yunshang and Yu Feiyin remembered her birthday.

Belatedly, she tasted the salty and astringent bitterness in her mouth.

She raised her hand and wiped away the tears on her face, but the tears kept falling silently.

It doesn’t matter how much grievance Qin Buwan suffers, what if the sky falls? But she feels sorry for Yu Feiyin.

From the first onset of the disease to now, in just two or three months, Yu Feiyin has lost twenty pounds.

If it weren’t for Fu Yunshang, she really wouldn’t know what to do.

The transplant fee is naturally not a small amount. Paying 300,000 only gets you a spot in line, and the remaining expenses are a bottomless pit. Qin Buwan didn’t dare to calculate it carefully.

She carefully put away the card.

The night was already late, and Qin Buwan planned to walk home.

Since Yu Feiyin and Qin Lang divorced, the two of them have moved back to the old house in the military compound, which is about ten minutes’ walk from the hospital.

Before she reached the entrance of her home, Qin Buwan caught a glimpse of a familiar Bentley in the corner of her eye, parked not far in front of her.

Qin Buwan stopped, expressionlessly meeting the gaze of the person sitting in the back seat.

Just as she was about to walk around the car and go home, the other party opened the car door and called out to her in a deep voice, “Get in the car!”

Qin Buwan ignored him, took out the key from her bag, and continued walking.

“Qin Buwan! I’m your father!” Qin Lang was already furious, and seeing this scene, he became even more enraged, walking straight towards Qin Buwan.

“So what?” Qin Buwan didn’t even look at him, asking in return.

“You!” Qin Lang slapped Qin Buwan.

Qin Buwan raised her hand, blocking Qin Lang.

“I’m already very tired,” she frowned impatiently.

“If it’s not for Qin Zhiyu, I have nothing to say to you.”

She had already lost count of how many times Qin Lang had troubled her because of Qin Zhiyu’s matters. Every time, it was her fault. She was extremely tired of it. She would just give up the position of Xu Nanhe’s wife.

Seeing Qin Buwan’s attitude, Qin Lang gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice, “Good! Since you are so arrogant and conceited to this extent, instead of letting you enter society and be taught a lesson by others, I will let you know the consequences today!!!”

Before he finished speaking, he reached out, grabbed Qin Buwan’s hair, and dragged her backward.

This happened so suddenly that Qin Buwan didn’t have time to react at all. The intense pain that instantly came from her scalp made her vision blur for a few seconds.
