By the time Qin Buwan reacted, Qin Lang had already dragged her into the car, and the driver was about to grab a rope to tie her up.
Enduring the piercing pain, she reached back to grab Qin Lang’s arm and scratched him fiercely a few times.
Qin Lang, stung by the pain, gripped Qin Buwan’s hair tightly and slapped her face hard, back and forth.
Qin Buwan’s mind went blank from the slaps, and she couldn’t even see clearly in front of her. Her mouth was full of a metallic, sweet taste, and her ears were filled with buzzing echoes.
She wanted to get up, but her body felt paralyzed and unable to move.
How painful was it?
In a daze, Qin Buwan recalled a time when she was little, when she was almost hit by a car and her bones cracked when she landed. The pain at that moment was no more than this.
Even when Qin Lang had hit her before, he had never done it so hard. Qin Buwan felt that he might kill her tonight.
She took a few breaths and struggled to get up, trying to escape from the car, but Qin Lang landed another heavy punch, directly hitting her temple.
“Kneel!” Qin Lang slammed the semi-conscious Qin Buwan onto the cement floor of the Qin Family Ancestral Hall.
Qin Buwan was jolted awake, but felt so dizzy that she simply lay on the ground and didn’t get up.
“Kneel properly!” Qin Lang reached out and pulled her up.
Qin Buwan was in no condition to fight back, so she let him do as he pleased.
Qin Lang and the bodyguard held her down until she was kneeling steadily, and Qin Buwan didn’t struggle at all.
“Do you know what you did wrong?” Qin Lang asked sternly.
Wrong? What was her mistake?
Qin Buwan looked at the row of spirit tablets in front of her with a cold smile, and spat a mouthful of bloody froth onto the prettiest spirit tablet in the middle of the bottom row.
Made of Dalbergia Odorifera, it was made of more valuable materials than any other ancestral tablet.
“You!!!” Qin Lang slapped Qin Buwan’s face hard again.
She always managed to do things that made Qin Lang furious in an instant.
Qin Buwan’s face was numb, and she didn’t feel any pain anymore.
“Tell me, does that old third child deserve such offerings from me?” She paused for a few seconds and asked Qin Lang with a faint smile.
“When she was alive, she went to the Qin family to cause trouble. Did anyone in the Qin family recognize her and that bastard’s status? Even when she was alive, she couldn’t enter the Qin family’s main gate. Only after Grandma passed away could her tablet be placed in the ancestral hall. I’m kneeling to such a lowly person; the ancestors of the Qin family will settle the score with me tonight!”
Qin Lang didn’t expect her to be so stubborn even at this point!
The snow outside grew heavier, accompanied by a few peals of winter thunder.
In the dim light of the ancestral hall, Qin Buwan looked up at him, her face and body covered in blood, with a fierce look in her eyes, like a vengeful ghost from hell, which made Qin Lang feel a little frightened for a moment.
“Either kill me today, or I’ll kneel to her today and burn it to ashes tomorrow!”
The words that came out of Qin Buwan’s mouth had no emotional fluctuations, but a sense of calm madness.
She was the kind of person who could do such a thing.
Her indifferent and disdainful attitude made Qin Lang even more furious.
He came back to his senses, grabbed Qin Buwan by the neck, and lifted her off the ground.
Qin Buwan’s back slammed heavily against the altar in front of her, making a loud noise. In that instant, she felt like her spine was about to break.
“Good! Then I’ll grant your wish!!!” Qin Lang’s hand, gripping her neck, was so strong that it could almost snap her slender neck.
“Sir!” Just then, accompanied by another dull thunderclap, the butler suddenly pushed open the door in a panic and grabbed Qin Lang.
“Let go! Today, I’ll see how hard your bones are!” Qin Lang shook off the butler’s hand like a madman.
“Please answer the phone first!” The butler held the phone to Qin Lang’s ear, urging, “It’s from the Fu family!”
The words “Fu family” instantly sobered Qin Lang up.
He let go of Qin Buwan and said fiercely, “I’ll settle the score with you later!”
Qin Buwan fell to the ground, coughing violently, spitting out several more mouthfuls of blood.
Seeing her like this, Qin Lang figured she couldn’t cause any trouble for the time being, so he took the phone and walked out quickly.
…
When Qin Buwan regained consciousness, she was the only one left in the ancestral hall.
She wanted to sit up, but every bone in her body felt broken, and it was difficult to even move a finger.
After a while, she crawled, step by step, to the altar with the spirit tablets, her whole body soaked in cold sweat.
She looked at the altar in front of her, smiled, and reached out to grab the Dalbergia Odorifera spirit tablet in her hand.
“…Yes, the little beast is in the ancestral hall. Please wait a moment!” Qin Lang’s voice came from outside the door.
Qin Buwan leaned against the altar, turned her head, and looked towards the door.
The moment Qin Lang opened the door, Qin Buwan stabbed the sharp fruit knife in her right hand directly into the spirit tablet.
Her eyes stared straight at Qin Lang. When the first stab didn’t go through, she pulled the knife out with force and stabbed it in again, then again and again, without the slightest hesitation.
The ferocity stunned everyone present, and no one made a sound.
“Okay.” Qin Buwan picked up the spirit tablet, and with a soft snap, she broke it in two along the knife marks.
Then, Qin Buwan raised her hand and lightly tossed them into the paper-burning brazier, like throwing away garbage.
Qin Lang’s vision went black for a moment.
Those few stabs in the spirit tablet were more painful than stabbing himself.
He immediately pounced on the brazier and pulled out the scalding hot tablet from the fire.
The air was instantly filled with the smell of burning flesh, but Qin Lang was completely unaware. His eyes were red, and he raised his hand to strike Qin Buwan’s head and face.
Qin Buwan really didn’t have the strength to dodge. She bit down hard on her teeth, closed her eyes, and prepared to endure the coming storm.
However, after waiting for a long time, the expected pain did not arrive.
She opened her eyes and saw a figure standing in front of her, with the light behind him. Her eyes were blurry, and she couldn’t see who it was for a moment.
She blinked and adjusted to the light for a few seconds before she could see clearly that it was Fu Yunshang.
Her overloaded heart was beating wildly, and she could even hear it.
He looked down and met her eyes, his handsome brow lightly furrowed.
