Era of Arranged Marriages: Dumping the Infertile Scumbag and Having Triplets in the First Pregnancy Chapter 76

Chapter 76

Tang Yunling thought to herself that Zhou Yanfeng inviting her to watch the thief being caught tonight sounded exactly like a young man asking a girl out to the movies.

It wasn’t just her imagination.

After Tang Yunling finished washing the dishes for Lu Baiwei, she came out of the kitchen, and Zhou Yanfeng, who had already washed up, returned to the youth group station.

He was neatly dressed in a nice cotton shirt, and his hair was especially well combed, almost as if he were heading out to a movie.

Tang Yunling felt an indescribable awkwardness as she looked at him.

Zhou Yanfeng looked at her expectantly, as though asking, “Don’t I look good?”

Tang Yunling couldn’t bring herself to look at him, so she turned her face away and spoke to Lu Baiwei.

“Vivi, if I’m late coming back, don’t wait for me.”

“I’ll be staying at home tonight.”

Having had her fill of watching their affection, Tang Yunling felt that with the matter of Zhao Yongsen, it was inappropriate to linger around and interfere with Lu Baiwei and He Ting’s newlywed life.

Since her family cared for her, she planned to watch the excitement and then go home and knock on the door.

Tang Yunling stayed at the brigade health center. She often cried quietly, and He Ting thought that only if Zhou Yanfeng acted quickly and settled Tang Yunling, could he and Vivi have peaceful days together.

He Ting clapped Zhou Yanfeng on the shoulder. “Come out, I need to talk to you.”

“Oh, okay!”

Zhou Yanfeng went out with He Ting, and after murmuring for a while near the bamboo grove foundation, they came back to ask Tang Yunling to join them at the Yin family’s place.

He Ting’s lips curled up slightly, looking quite pleased.

Lu Baiwei asked him, “What did you talk to Zhou Yanfeng about?”

Little ones were easily sleepy, and after dinner, Ranran was nodding off, nearly toppling out of her chair.

He Ting carried Ranran to the back room and put her to bed.

Finally, it was just the two of them. He Ting wrapped his arm around Lu Baiwei. “I told Zhou Yanfeng about your fear of snakes.”

“How could I be afraid of snakes?”

Lu Baiwei immediately realized what He Ting was referring to — the night they had returned from the county hospital.

She was furious and quickly pinched him hard on the waist. “How could you tell Zhou Yanfeng about that?”

He Ting, feeling helpless, explained:

Zhou Yanfeng cared about Tang Yunling, but the things he said always came out wrong.

He, on the other hand, couldn’t find a wife through his own abilities.

For the sake of his and Vivi’s happy life, his good buddy had to be helped, even if he couldn’t stand up on his own.

He Ting hugged his wife and comforted her. “Vivi, I didn’t go into details. I just told him you’re afraid of snakes.”

Was it really that hard to get over the fact that she pretended to be afraid of snakes?

She couldn’t possibly get over pretending to be afraid of snakes, right?

The words “afraid of snakes” were emphasized by He Ting with a chuckle.

Lu Baiwei was both embarrassed and angry. “You still say…”

There was a narrow, winding path leading from the brigade health center to the Yin family, wide enough for just one person to pass. Zhou Yanfeng, leading Tang Yunling, was about to turn onto the small road when someone in the darkness cleared their throat. Zhou Yanfeng, alert, quickly pulled Tang Yunling into the bushes at the side of the road.

Sure enough, a moment later, they saw two figures sneakily turn onto the small road leading to the Yin family.

“Vivi’s dad and stepmother are really bold,” Tang Yunling marveled. “It’s barely dusk, and people in the brigade haven’t gone to bed yet, and these two can’t wait.”

“Exactly,” Zhou Yanfeng agreed. “Brother Ting and sister-in-law said they’ve been digging at the Yin family for several days, and even the aunt at the health center knows.”

Zhou Yanfeng led Tang Yunling out of the bushes. “Money gives people courage. Back when Brother Ting wasn’t married, Lu Jiaojiao and Yin Zhihe crawled into the haystack, shouting that there was gold buried under the Yin family’s land.”

Tang Yunling suddenly understood. “No wonder she kept insisting on marrying He Ting, always coming to the youth group station to find him. Your brother was so annoyed with her, hiding from her when they showed movies at the brigade.”

“Later, when she crawled into the haystack with Yin Zhihe, I was puzzled. Turns out she was tricked by him.”

Tang Yunling had no idea that Lu Jiaojiao was actually reborn.

“If the Yin family really had gold bars buried, with Shen Guixiang’s personality, she would have already exchanged the money for luxury and good food. Why would she be coaxing her married daughters to send money to her family?”

Tang Yunling didn’t believe there were gold bars buried at the Yin family’s house. She thought Lu Jiaojiao was foolish and had been tricked by Yin Zhihe.

What was even more laughable was that Vivi’s father and stepmother really believed it.

Liu Chunhua even got people to beat up Shen Guixiang and her son, sending them to the commune hospital, and while no one was at the Yin house, they went in and started digging and searching.

Tang Yunling was still thinking about how exciting it would be when Shen Guixiang, with the help of Gong Minbing, caught Liu Chunhua and her husband. But Zhou Yanfeng was already lost in his thoughts.

As he pulled Tang Yunling into the bushes, he held her hand.

When they emerged from the bamboo thicket, his hand was still holding hers, and Tang Yunling didn’t pull away.

Although Tang Yunling seemed tough, her hand felt very soft to the touch.

Holding her hand, Zhou Yanfeng’s steps felt light, as if he were walking on air.

As they neared the narrow path leading to the Yin family, which could only fit one person, Tang Yunling instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Zhou Yanfeng panicked.

He was thinking about what Brother Ting had told him.

In fact, He Ting had never taught him how to approach Tang Yunling, but had only mentioned Lu Baiwei’s pretending to be afraid of snakes, which gave Zhou Yanfeng an idea.

A rustling sound came from the grass beside the path, and Zhou Yanfeng jumped in fright.

“Snake!”

Zhou Yanfeng was truly afraid of snakes. He instinctively turned and lunged towards Tang Yunling, pressing against her.

As they both teetered near the slope, Tang Yunling, also reacting instinctively, wrapped her arms around Zhou Yanfeng’s waist and helped steady him.

Zhou Yanfeng: “…”

Zhou Yanfeng: “…”

He was stunned!

Had he just been picked up by a woman?

“You’re really strong!”

He couldn’t help but blurt out that she was strong.

Zhou Yanfeng habitually followed up, “Which man would dare marry you?”

Actually, what he meant to say was, Tang Yunling, only I dare marry you.

How about… you settle for me?

However, before he could say anything else, Tang Yunling loosened her grip around his waist.

With his body losing balance, Zhou Yanfeng nearly fell to the ground and landed in the mud.

That wasn’t enough!

Seeing Zhou Yanfeng barely managing to stay on his feet, Tang Yunling swiftly kicked him.

“Go to hell!”

Not caring whether the slope was muddy or not, Tang Yunling left him behind and headed up the small road leading to the Yin family.

By the time Zhou Yanfeng got himself out of the bushes, covered in mud, and managed to catch up with Tang Yunling, they had already reached the Yin family’s door.

They were too late!

Shen Guixiang had already brought Gong Minbing, lying in wait to catch Lu Jianguo and Liu Chunhua, who had sneaked into the house.

Tang Yunling didn’t have time to care about Zhou Yanfeng, who was covered in mud. She quickly pulled him into the bushes by the side of the road.

Soon, Gong Minbing, holding a flashlight, led a group of people to bind Lu Jianguo and Liu Chunhua like dumplings, dragging them down the small path where they had been hiding, and towards the brigade office.

Having missed witnessing the capture of the thieves, Tang Yunling vented her frustration on Zhou Yanfeng.

“It’s your fault, we didn’t see anything!”

The foundation of the new house had been laid, and the construction progressed quickly.

Tang Yuanliang called over ten or so of the Tang family members to help, and Zhou Yanfeng brought along a few people from the youth group station. In just one day, the walls were already higher than the people.

Lu Baiwei, holding Rannuan’s hand, watched He Ting and the others building the house. A familiar voice came from behind.

“Hey, Baiwei, your family’s new house is already this tall?”

It was Liu Chunhua speaking from behind Lu Baiwei. She was eyeing the new house with envy. Behind her was the sneaky figure of Lu Wenhua, peering around.
