Qin Ruqing was utterly stunned.
He actually slipped away like that! And that flying boat…
I wondered why a grand master’s flying boat was so ordinary.
Turns out it can grow wings!
For the first time in her life, Qin Ruqing felt utterly baffled and couldn’t help but gasp for breath.
She thought to herself, this fat lamb really needs a good training to become aware.
Qin Ruqing stood with hands on her hips, turning around, only to realize someone was still standing behind her.
She was startled, standing unsteadily on the edge of the medicinal field, nearly stepping into it. Fortunately, this person reached out and steadied her.
“Are you alright?” It was a magnetic young voice.
After stabilizing herself, Qin Ruqing looked up and let out an exclamation when she saw what he looked like.
He seemed somewhat familiar.
“You…”
Cheng Yiming bowed respectfully.
Cheng Yiming bowed slightly, “That day, I accidentally bumped into Fifth Miss, and I haven’t apologized to Fifth Miss yet.”
“Oh, it’s you.” Qin Ruqing widened her eyes, covertly appraising him as the guy who the system had used five cents of special effects on.
How come he’s here?
Cheng Yiming seemed to understand what Qin Ruqing was thinking and explained kindly, “The Cheng family has leased fifty acres of medicinal fields from the Qin family. As the steward, I’m here to supervise the secret realm.”
“Oh, that makes sense.”
Qin Ruqing was no longer surprised.
She casually walked ahead with her hands behind her back and remarked, “Your family’s management seems quite young!”
Currently, not just anyone could enter and exit the Qin family’s revolving secret realm.
Since acquiring the entire secret realm, the Qin family had established new rules and regulations, adding rotating guards at the entrance and requiring identity badges for entry and exit.
The two affiliated families below, due to their involvement in the Qin family’s Pill medicine business and leasing of the medicinal fields, were granted a limited number of entry spots.
However, this required prior approval from the Qin family.
This person was so young yet entrusted with supervising the medicinal fields and entering the secret realm, showing how highly the family valued him.
He was no ordinary person.
Cheng Yiming was somewhat choked by Qin Ruqing’s response but managed to reply, “The management isn’t actually that young. It’s just that my talent in cultivation is considered acceptable, so the family has placed great trust in me.”
He said it tactfully, but Qin Ruqing’s quick glance revealed that he had reached the fourth level of Qi cultivation.
The Cheng family wasn’t a prominent clan, and in such families, having members who could cultivate Qi was already considered good.
For him to achieve such cultivation at such a young age indicated that his talent was far from merely “acceptable.”
Qin Ruqing smiled, “You’re already at the fourth level of Qi cultivation. Your talent is more than just acceptable.”
Cheng Yiming’s eyes flashed.
Qin Ruqing could easily see through his cultivation level.
From this, it seemed that the cultivation level of this Miss Qin, from the main branch of the Qin family, surpassed even his.
“I haven’t asked you yet, why have you been following me?” Qin Ruqing realized that this person had been following her from behind all this time.
She had planned to chase after the fat lamb, and his presence made it awkward for her to leave freely.
Cheng Yiming paused, stopped, and with a serious expression, looked directly at Qin Ruqing.
This solemn demeanor made Qin Ruqing involuntarily stop as well.
Cheng Yiming spoke frankly, “I wish to follow Fifth Miss.”
“Huh?”
Qin Ruqing was genuinely surprised by his straightforwardness.
She had expected him to come and curry favor with her after seeing the system’s special effects.
However, she hadn’t anticipated him to be so clear and composed in his manner of seeking her favor.
He had just come out with it!
Even someone as audacious as Qin Ruqing was confused by his approach.
After a moment, she cleared her throat lightly and asked, “This is indeed unexpected. We’ve only met once, so why do you want to follow me?”
Cheng Yiming replied, “For power. I see great prospects for the Qin family, and these prospects are closely tied to Fifth Miss. I, too, aspire to have a future, so I’ve come to follow Fifth Miss.”
“Oh, I see. In novel terms, your character setting is a firm believer in the iron-blooded career.”
Qin Ruqing nodded and asked again, “You see potential in the Qin family, but what about this potential…”
“The root lies with me? How did you figure that out?” Qin Ruqing asked.
Without a word, Cheng Yiming reached out and touched his forehead, a golden light flashing briefly as a small seam appeared there.
“Holy smokes!” Qin Ruqing’s eyes widened.
This must be what the system meant by “covertly appraising.”
Cheng Yiming explained, “When I completed cultivating my Ling, and Qi entered my body that year, I awakened this eye. When closed, it has no effect on the body, but when open, it can see the Mystical Qi fortunes.”
“I observed Fifth Miss and saw she has a great Qi fortune and is a favored individual. The influence of Fifth Miss on the Qin family ensures continued prosperity.”
Qin Ruqing raised an eyebrow, “Wow, you can see all that? Your eye is quite useful. However, your frankness in following me because of my Qi fortune might give the impression of being somewhat opportunistic.”
Cheng Yiming bowed slightly, showing great respect, “I understand that not everyone can follow Fifth Miss due to her status.
I must be able to serve Fifth Miss.
Evaluating myself, my family is not prominent, my talent is average, but this eye is special.
It allows me to observe fortunes and judge auspiciousness for Fifth Miss. Therefore, I dare to offer myself.”
Qin Ruqing nodded, understanding his approach.
This man used frankness as his weapon and his eye as his calling card.
He was right; his ability to observe the fortunes of the world, though quirky, was not less impressive than her Spirit Treasure Explorer.
With such talent volunteering, there was no reason to refuse.
Qin Ruqing said, “Your words have moved me. Someone of your caliber staying in the Cheng family would indeed be a waste.
Here’s the plan: I’ll arrange a courtyard for you. You’ll live in the Qin family from now on and enjoy the main branch’s cultivation resources.”
Without waiting for his reaction, Qin Ruqing took off her waist pendant and threw it to him. “Take this, go find my father, and repeat what I just said. He will make arrangements for you.”
“Oh, by the way, what kind of courtyard do you like? How about one with an apricot grove?”
Cheng Yiming was taken aback by how easily she agreed, but he managed to reply, “Any arrangement will do. I don’t have a preference for living environment.”
Qin Ruqing nodded calmly and continued walking.
Since he wasn’t picky, it made things easier.
It wasn’t often she encountered such extraordinary individuals, but she had just met two in a row.
In that case, she would arrange for him to live next door to Tang Zifeng.
