Lin Can’s brain crashed.
Lin Can was shocked.
Lin Can tightened his grip on the shovel in his hand.
“Calm down,” he said, “don’t get so worked up!”
“I’m perfectly calm!” Qi Yuan was completely unfazed, “Hurry up and take it off for me!”
Lin Can reached out to turn off the stove; in this situation, he couldn’t care less about the kitchen.
“You really are crazy.”
“I am crazy,” Qi Yuan nodded slowly, surprisingly agreeing with him, “It’s clearly just a sugar daddy relationship, yet I’ve been playing this pure love script with you for so long. I don’t even know when my temper got this good.”
“Quickly grab your apron and come back to the room with me!”
“No…”
As soon as Lin Can opened his mouth, he was warned by Qi Yuan.
“Don’t talk back!”
Seeing that Lin Can was too slow, Qi Yuan grabbed the apron himself and headed back to the room.
Heavens, that apron was even pink!
He had bought it casually at the supermarket back then, and now the retribution had come.
Lin Can felt like he was already standing on the edge of a cliff.
And the integrity he was trying so hard to protect was already drifting away on a little boat, no matter how much he shouted, it wouldn’t turn back.
As he walked into the bedroom, Qi Yuan was already sitting by the bed. When he saw Lin Can push the door open, he immediately looked over.
Meeting those eyes that seemed like they wanted to pin him to the wall, Lin Can’s throat went dry, “I think I can still struggle a bit.”
“Struggle for what?” Qi Yuan’s face was sour, and his tone was stiff.
“Clearly, I’m the victim. Why am I the one being punished…?”
Qi Yuan snorted coldly, “Who told you to like speaking up for others?”
“I’m not speaking up for others; I’m just afraid you might go too far and end up in trouble.” Lin Can’s expression was quite sincere.
“I’ll end up in trouble?” Qi Yuan retorted, “Even if you sent ten of yourself in, I wouldn’t go in.”
Lin Can was momentarily speechless.
Those wicked upper-class people.
“Stop talking!” Qi Yuan threw the apron at him, “Put it on quickly.”
It seemed today was really the day he had to face the music…
Lin Can resigned himself to his fate, bending down to pick up that pink lump.
“Don’t forget to take off your clothes.”
“…” Lin Can hesitated, “What about my pants?”
“Take them off.”
That was the coldest word Lin Can had ever heard in his life.
“Don’t look at me like that.” Qi Yuan turned his head away, not wanting to see Lin Can’s face.
Although Lin Can’s expression made him feel a bit of pity, when it came to matters of the flesh, Qi Yuan decided to put everything else aside.
Lin Can finally resigned himself, grabbing the hem of his T-shirt, raising his hand to prepare to lift it…
“Buzz buzz buzz, buzz buzz buzz…”
Lin Can stopped his movements, looking towards Qi Yuan’s phone that was tossed aside.
“Damn!” Qi Yuan cursed, raising his hand to hang up.
But when he saw the contact, he answered.
“What is it?”
“Why aren’t you replying to my WeChat?” Gong Yusheng’s loud voice came from the other end, “Open the door quickly!”
Qi Yuan was stunned for less than a second, “You came to my house?”
“Not just your house, I’m right at your door! I’ve been ringing the doorbell for ages, and no one opened! Where’s Lin Can?”
Qi Yuan looked up at Lin Can, who was still holding onto a corner of his clothes.
Where is he? He’s right here preparing for a strip show for him.
“Don’t come, go back.” Qi Yuan said to the other side, his eyes fixed on Lin Can’s lean and strong waist.
Damn, he was so close to seeing those abs!
“Hey, ancestor! Do you think I would come looking for you for no reason?” Gong Yusheng had no idea what was happening inside, and kept urging, “Stop throwing a tantrum and open the door. We need to talk business!”
Qi Yuan clicked his tongue heavily.
Lin Can blinked curiously, using lip reading to ask him what was going on.
Qi Yuan tossed his phone aside and said angrily, “Forget about taking off that raggedy outfit of yours. It takes forever to get off, like it’s semi-permanent.”
“Go open the door!”
Lin Can’s mouth twitched, feeling like he was about to burst.
He really wasn’t being abandoned by the heavens.
“Don’t get cocky,” Qi Yuan followed behind him, ominously reminding, “This won’t be so easy to get past.”
Lin Can immediately became obedient.
*
When Lin Can opened the door, Gong Yusheng was standing there with a computer bag, dressed in a dark suit, looking somewhat like a city elite from a drama.
“Where’s Qi Yuan? Is he napping?” he asked when he saw Lin Can.
Lin Can glanced back at the living room, where Qi Yuan was sulking on the sofa, clearly ruining his good time. He wouldn’t have it easy later.
Thinking of this, he awkwardly smiled at the person in front of him, “He’s in the living room. I’ll go get you some tea.”
After that breakfast, Gong Yusheng had developed a bit of a “good wife” filter for Lin Can, and his attitude unconsciously carried a hint of respect for the “sister-in-law.” Hearing Lin Can say this, he quickly agreed.
Lin Can didn’t notice this subtle change and turned to the kitchen to pour water.
As soon as he entered the kitchen, Qi Yuan’s voice mocking Gong Yusheng came through.
“Why do you have to bother me? Can’t you just send your secretary to tell me?”
“Didn’t you say you didn’t like others coming into your house?” Gong Yusheng’s words were filled with innocence.
In this hot weather, did he really think he enjoyed running around with a computer, pretending to be a programmer who had to work overtime during his vacation?
Lin Can couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Qi Yuan didn’t want to deal with Gong Yusheng at all. Seeing the person he was about to enjoy a meal with walking in and out with tea and fruit only made him more irritated.
“Get to the point and say what you need to say. Say it quickly and leave, don’t waste my time.”
“Don’t say that, this time I really can’t leave quickly!”
Gong Yusheng, who was completely focused on work, had lost all his usual awareness and didn’t notice Qi Yuan’s dark expression at all. He was still laughing foolishly, “At least it will take two or three hours.”
Qi Yuan wanted to throw the tea that Lin Can had just placed on the table at his smiling face.
Lin Can placed the white tea he had brewed for Gong Yusheng on the coffee table, “If you two are discussing work, then I’ll head into the room?”
Gong Yusheng quickly nodded, “Okay, okay. We’re going to record a video soon, Lin Can, you’d better not come out, or you’ll get caught on camera.”
Record a video?
Qi Yuan frowned deeply, “What video are you recording? How come I don’t know?”
“Oh, it’s just a warm-up, a little video for the fans,” Gong Yusheng said.
Qi Yuan rolled his eyes, “A warm-up for your show? Are you out of your mind?”
After so many years in the entertainment industry, what kind of event still needed him, a film emperor, to warm it up?
“Of course, the higher the heat, the better…”
As he spoke halfway, he caught a glimpse of Qi Yuan’s face, and Gong Yusheng finally realized the dark aura surrounding him, “What’s wrong with you today? Did you eat explosives?”
He asked while looking at Lin Can.
Lin Can felt awkward under his gaze and pushed Qi Yuan’s shoulder, “Be patient, this is work.”
“Easy for you to say,” Qi Yuan mumbled, but he sat up a bit straighter and asked what the filming process was.
Gong Yusheng hurriedly opened his laptop and showed Qi Yuan the script he had prepared.
Seeing them getting busy, Lin Can returned to his room.
He usually didn’t have much to do; aside from cleaning and cooking, he occasionally dealt with Qi Yuan, and most of the time he was just idle.
He had been confused about how to use this time, but after finishing a call with Xu Suqin, he had made a decision.
He planned to take a teacher qualification exam and apply for a position as a primary school teacher when he returned home.
Although the salary for this job wasn’t high and the tasks were numerous and varied, at least it was stable and wouldn’t go wrong.
Living a life like this, taking care of his elderly parents and younger siblings, wouldn’t be a waste of this life he had picked up.
*
By six in the evening, after Qi Yuan had sent Gong Yusheng away, who still wanted to stay for dinner, Lin Can had already fallen asleep on the table.
Qi Yuan pulled out the book he had been pressing down and took a look, discovering it was related to education. In an instant, he thought of the phone call he had overheard that day.
“Mm…” Lin Can was awakened by his movements and realized he had actually fallen asleep, quickly sitting up straight.
“Are you done?” he asked Qi Yuan.
Qi Yuan nodded, flipping through a couple of pages, “So you really plan to be a teacher?”
Lin Can felt a bit embarrassed, “I think about it, but it’s really hard to become a teacher now, and I have to take an exam.”
“Did you want to be a middle school teacher or what?”
“Primary school, I think kids are cute.” Lin Can said, a slight smile appearing on his lips. He genuinely liked children, those angelic beings.
But Qi Yuan suddenly thought of the scene he had seen at Blue Shore.
Those weren’t angels; they were clearly a bunch of perverts!
“Forget it, you’re not suited to be a teacher.”
Lin Can was puzzled, “Why not?”
“Your face isn’t suitable.” Qi Yuan said.
Lin Can’s expression suddenly showed a bit of distress. Was it really going to affect him even in primary school?
“By the way, have you thought about your ex-husband these days?” Suddenly, he heard Qi Yuan say.
He was confused, a look of bewilderment appearing in his eyes, “Huh?”
“I said I would arrange for you two to meet, right?” Qi Yuan sat down on his bed, casually asking, “Haven’t you thought about what you want to say when you meet?”
“I haven’t thought about it, and I can’t think of anything.”
“Do you want to meet him?”
Lin Can shook his head.
“That won’t do,” Qi Yuan’s tone turned a bit harsh, “After all, you two are going to meet in a few days.”
“What?”
“Stop with the ‘what’ already. Instead of pretending to be clueless in front of me, you should think about what you want to say when you meet.”
Qi Yuan stood up, humming an unknown English tune as he left.
Lin Can stared at his back for a while, and when the door was blown open by the wind, he scratched his neck in confusion.
He was the one who arranged for them to meet, he was the one who suddenly brought up Ran Yang, and he was the one who changed his attitude in the end.
Why was he so annoyed with Ran Yang yet kept bringing her up?
He couldn’t understand.
*
After finishing the white tea Lin Can had brewed, and not knowing what to do with the remaining time, Qi Yuan heard someone enter the living room.
Lin Can was walking towards the kitchen, asking him what he wanted for dinner.
Qi Yuan sat up straight, trying to analyze his current mood from his actions, “You still have the energy to eat?”
“What energy or not,” Lin Can had given up trying to understand this person’s thought process, simply saying, “Do you want to eat dinner or not?”
Qi Yuan suddenly smiled, “Of course I want to eat.”
“Just make a few small dishes.”
Lin Can replied, “Then wait half an hour, and I’ll call you when it’s ready.”
Back in the study, Gong Yusheng called, saying the short video they filmed in the afternoon was already being edited and would be released by eight or nine at night.
“Do you need to see it in advance?” Gong Yusheng asked.
Qi Yuan yawned, “I just need to glance at it. Send a copy to Xie Jun, and you guys can coordinate with him.”
Gong Yusheng wasn’t surprised and agreed.
“By the way, I heard from Wen Chu that you had a fight with Lin Can at noon?”
Upon hearing this news, Gong Yusheng finally understood why Qi Yuan had been sulking all afternoon, even glaring at him during breaks.
His admiration for Lin Can also grew.
This was the first person who had a fight with Qi Yuan and still managed to walk away, even making Qi Yuan work properly.
The key was that Qi Yuan actually listened!
Saying this was just a little fling, who would believe it?!
Gong Yusheng was inexplicably shocked and called with a hint of probing, “So, have you two made up?”
Qi Yuan was still happy that Lin Can had chosen him over Ran Yang, and upon hearing this, he didn’t think much of it.
“What do you mean made up? We weren’t even really fighting; I was just annoyed by his goody-two-shoes personality.”
A scumbag actually used the label of a goody-two-shoes.
Combining this with Qi Yuan’s earlier comment about Lin Can being honest, Gong Yusheng felt like the sky was really falling.
“So, are you just letting him go?”
Qi Yuan was dissatisfied, “Am I the kind of person who doesn’t hold grudges? From start to finish, Lin Can was the one who was wronged. Why would I go looking for trouble with him?”
“You’re really something,” Gong Yusheng said, “You can actually feel sorry for others? You’re such a considerate person?”
“Shut up,” Qi Yuan replied coldly, “If I weren’t considerate, I would have kicked you out long ago.”
“Alright, alright,” Gong Yusheng raised his hands in surrender, “Whatever you say goes. I can’t argue with you; in the end, you’re the one who will be in trouble.”
Qi Yuan scoffed, “Just Lin Can? You’re scared of him like this?”
This dense guy would be crying if Lin Can really got back together with Ran Yang.
Gong Yusheng silently cursed in his heart, but on the surface, he only said he would send the video over and reminded him to check it.
Qi Yuan hung up the phone as decisively as ever.
*
Stepping out of the living room, Lin Can was still busy in the kitchen, wearing that familiar pink apron around his waist.
Qi Yuan walked over, leaning against the wall to watch him without saying a word.
Lin Can inexplicably felt a bit hot in the ears and asked, “Why are you out? Didn’t you say you wanted to rest for a while?”
“Since I’m idle anyway, I might as well come out and enjoy the view.” Qi Yuan said.
Lin Can panicked and accidentally spilled too much salt, hurriedly trying to remedy it.
Now Qi Yuan really laughed, “Why are you panicking? I’m not going to touch you.”
Lin Can pouted; this person really dared to say anything. It was clearly him who wanted to play with the apron this afternoon.
Qi Yuan guessed his thoughts but was focused on something else.
“Why don’t you like to talk?”
Lin Can was taken aback, “What?”
“You hardly say anything to me,” Qi Yuan pointed at his mouth, “You barely say a few words all day.”
“Why? Are you afraid of me? Or do you dislike me?”
As he mentioned fear and dislike, he took a couple of steps closer to Lin Can, his imposing aura pressing down.
Lin Can unconsciously stepped aside but then remembered he still had to pay attention to the stir-fry in the pot, so he stood back.
As the distance closed, the atmosphere between the two suddenly became ambiguous.
“Stop messing around,” Lin Can reached out to push him away, explaining, “I’m just naturally quiet; it doesn’t mean I dislike you.”
“Quiet?” Thinking of the information he had seen about this person earlier, Qi Yuan’s previously good mood soured again, “You say you’re quiet, but I see you chatting quite a bit with those rich women?”
Oh no, he had forgotten the original character’s persona.
Lin Can pressed his lips together, feeling withdrawn and not wanting to speak.
He was an honest person; this kind of deceitful life really didn’t suit him.
But since he was already here, even if there were countless flaws, he had to grit his teeth and keep acting.
His silence in Qi Yuan’s eyes was a sign of guilt, and recalling the photos Xie Jun had shown him, the images of that scumbag surrounded by women laughing flamboyantly resurfaced in his mind.
“You’re really not a straight man?” he asked suspiciously.
Lin Can shook his head, “No, I was even married to Ran Yang, how could I be a straight man?”
Hah, always bringing up marriage, how could he not forget that ex-husband?
Qi Yuan snorted coldly, “Shut up.”
“I don’t care if you’re a straight man or not; anyway, you can’t act like one for the next six months.”
Lin Can nodded, honestly not saying anything more, just focusing on the stir-fry in the pot.
He was so still, but Qi Yuan was even more displeased.
What was going on? Couldn’t he see that the gold master was in a bad mood? He was just focused on those few vegetables.
Lin Can innocently said, “Aren’t I making this for you?”
“Put it aside.” Qi Yuan reached out to turn off the heat. After watching Lin Can cook every day, he had learned how to do it, “Say a few words.”
“What should I say?” Lin Can really couldn’t understand Qi Yuan’s whimsical behavior and could only humbly ask for guidance.
“Anything is fine, as long as it can make me happy.” Qi Yuan said.
Lin Can rubbed his nose, looking a bit troubled, his usually relaxed brows slightly furrowed, as if he was contemplating a very difficult problem.
Seeing him seriously troubled, Qi Yuan’s mood inexplicably improved a lot.
“How about this,” he raised his hand, once again pinching Lin Can’s thin earlobe, his voice unconsciously softening, “Just say ‘Qi Yuan, you’re really amazing.'”
“Ah?”
“Say it quickly.” Qi Yuan urged.
Lin Can blinked rapidly, and because they were so close, Qi Yuan could even see his long, thick eyelashes, light and fragile like butterfly wings.
“Qi, Qi Yuan, you’re really amazing.” Lin Can stammered, feeling awkward.
“……”
So refreshing.
Qi Yuan’s lips almost instantly curled up.
In that moment, Qi Yuan felt like he had unraveled some ancient tyrant.
To enjoy it again, he played a little trick, “What? I didn’t hear you clearly.”
Lin Can shot him a glance, his eyes carrying a hint of accusation.
Qi Yuan pushed his arm, “Hurry up, don’t dawdle.”
Lin Can had no choice but to harden his resolve and repeat it.
After enjoying it twice, Qi Yuan left the kitchen feeling refreshed.
He was always like this; no matter how big the issue was, as long as he could tease Lin Can, his mood would improve.
Lin Can tried to understand Qi Yuan’s thoughts, but as an honest person, he and Qi Yuan were simply not from the same world. He couldn’t even begin to figure it out and could only give up thinking and go along with him.
A few small dishes were quickly prepared, and as Lin Can brought them to the dining table, Qi Yuan was sitting on the balcony sofa, leisurely enjoying the evening view.
At this moment, he really had a bit of that young master vibe.
With his legs crossed and lazily leaning on his arms, even Lin Can, who had argued with him several times, couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.
“Staring at me?” Qi Yuan, however, had no idol burden, breaking the image with his words, “What? Am I better looking than your white-cut chicken ex-husband?”
“……” Lin Can returned to the kitchen with a wooden face.
“Can’t you handle the truth?” Qi Yuan’s voice followed from behind.
Now Lin Can completely didn’t want to talk.
*
This day was much more exhausting than usual. By the time everything was done, Lin Can was already exhausted and just wanted to lie down and rest.
However, when he finished showering and came out, he saw an unexpected guest sitting on his bed.
Lin Can shivered and turned to dive back into the bathroom.
“Can you think of something serious?” Qi Yuan looked up and saw his dog-like back, unable to hold back a laugh, “I have something serious to discuss with you, come here.”
What a villain reporting first, Lin Can thought, but his feet obediently walked towards Qi Yuan.
“Come sit closer,” once he got closer, Lin Can saw a laptop under the blanket. Qi Yuan beckoned him over while flipping it open, “Let me show you the results of my work this afternoon.”
Lin Can leaned in and saw a face that had been pixelated on the screen.
“?”
He looked at Qi Yuan suspiciously.
Qi Yuan’s expression also changed as he grabbed the phone that had been casually tossed aside and called.
“Hello?” Gong Yusheng seemed to be driving home, and there was soothing music playing in the background, “What’s up?”
“What do you mean what’s up?” Qi Yuan gritted his teeth, “What do you mean by pixelating my face?!”
“Hey, how’s it going?” Gong Yusheng’s voice sounded quite smug, “Genius, right?”
Qi Yuan was so angry he almost laughed, “Genius? Where’s the genius? Tell me!”
“You, you,” Gong Yusheng said, “We call this maintaining a sense of mystery! Building anticipation!”
Lin Can pressed the play button and then realized that Qi Yuan’s voice had also been altered, making it impossible to tell it was him.
So this was how they maintained the mystery.
“Both the voice and face have been changed, how will the fans know it’s Qi Yuan?” he asked in confusion.
Gong Yusheng said something, but Lin Can didn’t catch it and urged Qi Yuan to put it on speaker.
Gong Yusheng had to repeat what he just said, “It’s precisely because they can’t guess that they’ll keep guessing. You guess one line, I guess one line, and the discussion around my show will rise, right? It’ll get popular!”
That actually made some sense.
“Of course it makes sense; this was thought up by me and a few directors. How could it not be genius?”
“Enough, others have used this trick to death, and you say you thought of it yourself? Have some shame?” Seeing Gong Yusheng showing off in front of Lin Can, Qi Yuan started to feel annoyed.
They say men will try to show off their abilities in front of women, and Gong Yusheng usually wasn’t the type to show off, but now he was acting all smug.
Thinking about how Gong Yusheng had also praised Lin Can’s looks, Qi Yuan didn’t think twice before hanging up the phone.
Lin Can: ???
“Why are you asking so many questions just to watch a few minutes of video? Are you an idiot?” Qi Yuan said irritably.
Wasn’t it you who called first? Lin Can thought to himself but didn’t say anything.
Qi Yuan pressed the space bar, and the video continued playing, with Qi Yuan’s face covered by a big circle.
Someone off-screen asked him, “What made you want to participate in the show ‘Hold My Hand’?”
His voice had been altered, making it completely unrecognizable, “Wasn’t it you guys who insisted I come?”
The person off-screen coughed awkwardly, reminding him, “Leave some face, leave some face.”
He clicked his tongue lightly, unwillingly changing his words, “I’ve never participated before, but I’m a bit interested.”
“This show is a dating variety show, do you know that?”
“……” Qi Yuan was too lazy to respond.
“No, no, what I mean is, have you brought your other half with you?”
“I’m waiting for the production team to assign me one.”
The video abruptly stopped there.
Lin Can looked at Qi Yuan in confusion, “Program assignment? Is it random?”
Qi Yuan’s face darkened, “He cut out what I said after that!”
Lin Can pursed his lips, unsure whether to regret that he had to team up with Qi Yuan or to feel relieved that his teammate was someone he was most familiar with.
“What’s wrong? Do you want the program assignment?” Noticing his little movements, Qi Yuan’s narrowed eyes flashed with a glimmer.
“No,” Lin Can shook his head, “I was just curious about what you said.”
Qi Yuan snorted, “You better think that way.”
Having been threatened so many times, Lin Can had long since become immune to such words. While smoothing out the blanket he had just messed up, he asked what he had said.
Just a second ago, Qi Yuan had been quite arrogant, but now he suddenly seemed short of breath.
“You, why are you asking so many questions?! Just make sure to join me on the show when the time comes!”
Lin Can felt awkward, “Why are you reacting so strongly…?”
The video was finished, and he went back to the bathroom to dry his still slightly damp hair. When he returned, he found Qi Yuan hadn’t left.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, feeling a bit nervous.
“Do you know,” Qi Yuan didn’t move at all, just gazing at the ceiling, his voice drifting, “This room is filled with your scent.”
Lin Can’s walking rhythm suddenly became chaotic.
Seeing that he hadn’t walked over to the bed for a long time, Qi Yuan turned over, facing him, “What are you dawdling for?”
“Come here.”
Lin Can sat hesitantly on the edge of the bed, asking what he was doing.
“What do you mean?” Qi Yuan laughed, his tone forceful, “Did you forget about what happened at noon?”
Lin Can stiffened, then turned his head away, not daring to look into Qi Yuan’s eyes.
But Qi Yuan didn’t care about his protest and asked where that pink apron was.
“Did you leave it in the kitchen?”
Lin Can didn’t say anything, silently praying that this time, just like at noon, a phone call would come to save him from this predicament.
“Don’t look for it; I won’t answer calls after nine. They all know.” Qi Yuan was calm.
Lin Can’s heart sank instantly.
Seeing his awkwardness, not knowing where to put his hands, Qi Yuan felt quite pleased.
He slowly yawned, “Forget it, I’ll let you off the hook for the apron today.”
Before Lin Can could feel happy for a second, Qi Yuan added, “But you have to let me taste some sweetness first.”
“What sweetness?” Lin Can asked nervously.
Qi Yuan beckoned him closer and said, “You have to kiss me.”
Lin Can’s face showed difficulty.
“Is this not agreeable?” Qi Yuan was displeased, “You were the one who actively chose to be with me.”
Having been forced into that situation, could it still be called active?
Lin Can quietly retorted.
Qi Yuan’s face darkened, “Say that again?”
Lin Can immediately moved a few centimeters closer.
Qi Yuan’s imposing aura made him not dare to resist at all.
“That’s more like it.”
Qi Yuan’s expression softened a bit, and he reached out to pull Lin Can closer, “Hurry up.”
He was always like this, urging Lin Can with an impatient demeanor because he knew Lin Can was easily influenced by others. As long as he used a stormy approach to guide him, Lin Can would quickly give up thinking and choose to follow.
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Lin Can obediently leaned in.
That light kiss, as soft as a feather, landed again on Qi Yuan’s cheek.
Qi Yuan clicked his tongue, “Is that the only place you know how to kiss?”
Lin Can’s face turned red, and he coughed awkwardly.
Qi Yuan didn’t waste time talking and stretched his neck to kiss his lips.
Lin Can wanted to reach out to stop him but was restrained by Qi Yuan’s hand, and his lips were firmly pressed against.
“Can’t you open your mouth?” Looking at the man in front of him whose mouth was tightly shut, not even daring to breathe, Qi Yuan’s temper flared again.
Lin Can blinked rapidly, looking the most nervous he had ever been, “I, I just…”
Qi Yuan looked at him suspiciously, “You can’t still be a virgin, can you?”
Lin Can’s face turned even redder, and he silently got up to drink some water from the bedside.
Qi Yuan felt an inexplicable joy, as if he had discovered a treasure. To confirm, he asked again, “Speak up, you haven’t kissed anyone before, have you?”
Lin Can gulped down a glass of water, and only then did his mood barely settle, “No, I haven’t even held hands with anyone…”
“You’re just pretending,” Qi Yuan’s excitement faded significantly upon hearing this, “Didn’t you have fun with those rich women?”
Did this person think he couldn’t find out about a scumbag’s activities?
Hearing about the things the original character had done, Lin Can felt disheartened; he had said the wrong thing again.
“Since you already know, don’t ask me.” Thinking of how many times he had said the wrong thing recently, Lin Can just wanted to give up.
“You still haven’t cheered up? You little liar.” Qi Yuan sneered.
Lin Can didn’t want to talk and sat to the side, looking at his phone.
A pop-up appeared for trending topics on Weibo, and Lin Can accidentally clicked on it.
It was actually related to the show “Hold My Hand.”
Lin Can read it seriously for a while and found that all the guests participating in the show, except for him, had recorded a meet-and-greet video.
The official Weibo account for “Hold My Hand” released one every five minutes, and each video had discussions reaching tens of thousands of comments.
Lin Can casually clicked on one, and although the guest’s face was covered with animal stickers, the voice hadn’t been altered much, and he could vaguely hear the original sound.
Netizens were also using that voice to guess the identity of the guest, and any random guess had thousands of comments either agreeing or disagreeing.
Lin Can didn’t pay much attention to the entertainment industry, so he was confused. He simply found Qi Yuan’s video.
As the finale, Qi Yuan’s video was released last by the official Weibo account. Because the pixelation was too severe, even the voice had been altered, the discussions among the crowd were the most intense.
“Which big shot is this? Hiding so well?”
“Very good, you’ve successfully caught my attention.”
“Don’t let it turn out to be an 18th-tier small artist that no one cares about.”
“This arrogant tone reminds me of someone…”
“Upstairs, I also think of a certain film emperor with an extremely arrogant personality…”
“Come on, that person would participate in a dating variety show? Do you think today is April Fool’s Day?”
“Although, this tone really is quite similar; you can’t find another one like this in the entire entertainment industry.”
“What if it’s a small fry acting recklessly? Or someone with good relations with the production team?”
“Haha, you think someone could be so close to the production team that they could say they were invited? Some people really need to stop being so funny.”
The discussions below were particularly heated, with the number of comments being several times that of other videos. Qi Yuan’s status as a top star in the entertainment industry was indeed well-deserved.
Looking further, some gossip accounts were also quick to react, soon linking Qi Yuan with the show “Hold My Hand.”
Of course, to avoid offending Qi Yuan, they only dared to use vague terms like “suspected” and “seems like.”
But that was enough to attract attention, after all, just as Qi Yuan himself said, before this, no one dared to associate a dating variety show with him.
As the onlookers denied and questioned, the heat for “Hold My Hand” rose rapidly.
But soon, someone noticed something was off.
“There are only seven videos, where’s the eighth one?”
“Yeah, who could the eighth person be?”
“This ordinary person, what kind of background do they have to be ranked ahead of Qi Yuan? A prince who parachuted in?”
“Can we stop spreading rumors? It might not even be Qi Yuan.”
“What prince could outshine Qi Yuan? So I think that star can’t possibly be Qi Yuan!”
“Hiss, saying that does seem to make some sense.”
“Why guess? The show is going to air in a few days, and then we’ll all know.”
“Heh.”
Lin Can heard someone sneering in his ear. Turning his head, he found Qi Yuan had somehow moved closer to him.
“What do you think their reaction would be if they found out it was you?” Qi Yuan asked.
Lin Can was puzzled, “I’m just an ordinary person; what reaction could there be?”
Thinking that this person still didn’t know his identity as Ran Yang’s ex-husband, Qi Yuan’s smile deepened with meaning.
“?”
Qi Yuan ignored Lin Can’s confusion and gently pecked his face, “Let’s go, time for bed.”
Lin Can, who had just been surprised by Qi Yuan’s sudden closeness, felt relieved the next second when he heard he was leaving.
“Good night?” Qi Yuan walked to the door, turning back to glance at the man who was almost beaming with joy.
Lin Can tried to suppress the smile on his face but couldn’t control it at all, so he could only nod, “Good night.”
Qi Yuan yawned lazily, and with a very noble demeanor, he even helped him close the door.
It seemed that the last light kiss had brightened his mood.
Lin Can touched his cheek, feeling that it was warmer than usual in a daze.
*
After realizing that Lin Can’s personality was somewhat easygoing, Qi Yuan learned to take things step by step. The person who had been nervous even when he got close to him was now already accustomed to his kisses.
It had only been three days.
Qi Yuan pulled back a bit, watching Lin Can, who was still able to cook breakfast without changing his expression after being kissed, feeling secretly pleased.
Just like this, little by little, it wouldn’t be long before he could have him completely.
Thinking about how pure Lin Can was in that regard, Qi Yuan’s eyes turned red with desire.
“Buzz buzz buzz…”
Lin Can answered the phone, and upon hearing the voice on the other end, his eyes widened slightly.
“What do you need me for?”
“Block? I didn’t… wait…”
As he spoke halfway, he suddenly realized the problem and helplessly glanced at the culprit beside him.
Qi Yuan instinctively looked away.
It was strange; clearly, when he was caught doing something bad as a child, he could hold his head high and admit it, but why was he now afraid to look Lin Can in the eye?
Qi Yuan subconsciously didn’t want to delve deeper and just listened intently to Lin Can’s conversation with that ex-husband.
As a result, the more he listened, the more Qi Yuan felt that Lin Can’s tone was off.
Too gentle, gentle like the whispers between lovers.
What the hell?!
Just a moment ago, he was glaring at him, and now he was being so nice to Ran Yang!?
Was he so precious to his ex-husband that he could just toss Qi Yuan aside?
Qi Yuan became angry and bit Lin Can’s face hard!
“Ah!”
Lin Can cried out in pain.
The phone fell to the ground, and Lin Can covered his face, looking at Qi Yuan in shock and innocence.
“What are you biting me for?”
Qi Yuan didn’t say anything, just rolled his eyes, a cunning glint flashing in his gaze.
The next second, the phone that had fallen to the ground transmitted Ran Yang’s furious questioning.
“Lin Can! How many times has this been already?!”
Every time they were flirting, was he just a useful tool for Ran Yang?!
