Unlike the situation with Zhou Ran, Le Ning felt a bit regretful after getting home.
Why had she lent her car to someone? Didn’t that mean she’d have to interact with him again?!
Was she stupid?!
Le Ning let out a wail of despair. She must have been influenced by her overly naive younger brother, Le Luo.
She sighed and patted her face.
Fortunately, there was some comfort.
After touching up her makeup earlier, it still looked flawless.
Feeling rather pleased, Le Ning went into the bathroom to remove her makeup and take a shower. Deep down, she felt just a tiny, tiny bit of pride.
When she came out of the shower, the bored and lonely Ruan Qiu had already started shouting in their group chat.
Ruan Qiuqiu: [I’m so bored! Someone come talk to me!]
Ruan Qiuqiu: [Ning Ning, is your date with Zhou Ran over?]
Le Ning Doesn’t Like Lemons: [??? What date? When did I ever go on a date with Zhou Ran?!]
Chuchu Is Just Chuchu: [Pickled fish.]
Le Ning Doesn’t Like Lemons: [That was a coincidence!]
Ruan Qiuqiu: […So, did you go home after eating?]
Le Ning Doesn’t Like Lemons: [Of course! What, were we supposed to spend the night together outside?]
Ruan Qiuqiu: […Two single people, it’s not entirely out of the question?]
Le Ning was speechless.
After a moment, she replied in the group chat: [Joke around with me all you want, but don’t do it in front of Zhou Ran.]
She thought back to his expression when he mentioned “someone” earlier that evening. It had been unmistakably affectionate.
Zhou Ran… probably had someone he liked.
With that, Ruan Qiu and Ji Chuchu immediately understood.
They changed the topic and started chatting about other things.
Suddenly, Ji Chuchu sent a message in the group and tagged Le Ning:
Ji Chuchu: [By the way, are you going to the school anniversary?]
Their high school alma mater was about to celebrate its centennial anniversary.
The school had a long history and an excellent reputation, producing many elite talents over the years.
Le Ning had already seen the news about the celebration in the group chat earlier. At the time, when Ji Chuchu asked her about it, she’d been busy and had replied casually, saying they’d discuss it later.
She glanced at the date: [Half a month from now?]
Ruan Qiuqiu: [Come on, you won’t be busy by then.]
Chuchu Is Just Chuchu: [Yeah, go and join the fun.]
Le Ning checked her work schedule. She didn’t have anything major planned, so after some thought, she agreed.
That night, unexpectedly, Le Ning dreamed about her long-lost high school days.
In truth, aside from the one time she got rejected, her high school life had been pretty enjoyable.
For the next two days, Le Ning hardly went out.
She relied on food delivery for meals and spent her days at home experimenting with new makeup looks, thoroughly enjoying herself. However, there was always someone who wanted to disrupt her mood.
That day, just after she’d finished lunch and was planning to do a makeup livestream for her fans in the evening, her phone vibrated.
Le Ning glanced at it and raised an eyebrow.
Moments later, another message from the same person came through:
[Sis, did you forget what day it is today?]
[It’s Dad’s birthday. Did you forget?]
[And to think Dad was talking about you just yesterday. He asked me to see if you’re coming home for dinner.]
Le Ning’s lips curled into a faint sneer, her eyes flashing with disdain.
She glanced at the time—so it really was someone’s birthday.
As the messages kept coming, she let out a cold laugh and replied:
[1. I don’t have a sister.]
[2. The old man isn’t so senile that he can’t remember my number. If he wants me to come home for dinner, he can tell me himself. He doesn’t need a middleman.]
After sending the message, Le Ning happily put her phone down.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, the old man called.
“Ning Ning.”
“Yes?”
Le Ning was in the bathroom washing her face, pondering which makeup look to try today.
She still had many unopened eyeshadow palettes and foundation bottles. Maybe she should experiment with something new?
The man’s voice came through her ear, slightly hoarse with a hint of nasal tone.
“Have you eaten?”
Le Ning grabbed a face towel and wiped her face as she asked, “Are you asking about lunch or dinner?”
Tang Guangyuan was momentarily at a loss for words, then coughed lightly and said in a somewhat serious tone, “Of course, lunch. Are you coming home for dinner tonight?”
Afraid she might refuse, he quickly added, “It’s Dad’s birthday today. Can you join us for dinner?”
Le Ning chuckled softly, raised her brows, and said, “Sure, I’ll head back later.”
Hearing this, Tang Guangyuan was both surprised and delighted. “Great! I’ll ask the housekeeper to make your favorite sweet and sour ribs.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Le Ning glanced at her phone and curled her lips into a small smile. Then she picked it up and headed to her vanity.
Once again, Le Ning started a livestream without any prior notice.
Her fans were ecstatic, spamming the chat like crazy.
[Ahhh! Lemon’s stunning beauty strikes again today!]
[I struck gold waiting on Bilibili today!]
[Lemon, please post a heads-up next time! Your surprise streams make it hard for students like me to sneak a watch during class~]
Le Ning glanced at the chat, the corners of her lips curving up. Her eyes sparkled, and her skin, as flawless as white porcelain, seemed to glow even without makeup.
“Sorry about that.”
Her voice was soft. “I was planning to stream tonight, but I’ll be heading out for dinner later, so I started early.”
The fans enthusiastically said it was fine and even suggested doing another stream in the evening.
Le Ning tied her hair up in a bun and smiled. “Today, we’ll try some new products. I’ve bought quite a few things recently that I haven’t opened yet, so let’s do some reviews too.”
She began her skincare routine with her usual products—moisturizer, sunscreen, and primer.
Le Ning had great skin, so she didn’t spend much time introducing the first two products she was already familiar with. When it came to foundation, she held up a bottle and said, “Today, I’m using something new—CT Magic. Ruan Qiu recommended it to me, saying the finish is pretty good. Let’s give it a try.”
She leaned close to both the camera and her mirror, completely unfiltered, and applied it evenly across her face.
The fans were amazed.
Only someone like Le Ning could be so confident, skipping filters entirely.
After trying it out, she commented, “Not bad. It blends well. If it holds up without smudging tonight, I’ll recommend it to you.”
She continued her routine, her hands deftly working.
Suddenly, she noticed a chat message and smiled. “I’m not going for a soft girly look today; we’re doing a femme fatale look.”
Chat:
[What should we focus on for a femme fatale makeup look?]
[Lemon, can you share tips from your previous imitation tutorials? I’d love to learn!]
Le Ning answered every question. “When it comes to changing your makeup and aura, eyebrows, eyeliner, and eyeshadow are the most important…”
She even pointed out a few key details from a past celebrity makeup look she had imitated.
Suddenly, someone in the chat asked:
[Lemon! If we wanted to mimic your look, what should we focus on?]
[Lemon, I want to copy your stunning beauty!]
[If I had your skills, Lemon, I wouldn’t be single!]
