Chapter 22 Paternity Test
As Ji Hangyi just sat down on the cushion, he quickly took out a piece of jade from his backpack. He carefully handed it to Su Xiwan. Su Xiwan took the jade and observed it attentively and meticulously. After a moment, she couldn’t help but praise, “This jade has a good color!”
“Of course, Master Su, you don’t know, I put a lot of effort into this jade!” Ji Hangyi, hearing Su Xiwan’s praise, said somewhat proudly, his voice filled with pride.
Su Xiwan carefully observed the jade in her hand. It turned out to be top-quality mutton fat jade, and it was such a large piece, with such rare quality and size. This rich person is really willful.
Su Xiwan looked at Ji Hangyi and said, “Ji, you don’t need so much jade for making talismans, and I don’t have a jade cutting machine here.”
“Don’t worry about that. I’ll have a smaller jade cutting machine sent over tomorrow. As for these jades, I want to make more talismans for my family. Master Su, what do you think?”
Ji Hangyi, feeling a bit embarrassed, scratched the back of his head and said with a hint of apology. After all, he did not inform Su Xiwan in advance and made her create so many talismans.
“Master Su, I know it’s somewhat difficult to make talismans with jade, and this piece of jade can make about ten talismans. Master Su, how about this, regardless of how many talismans you make with this jade, I’ll give you a total of 200,000 as a token of appreciation?” Ji Hangyi’s gaze was sincere and determined.
“No need. We agreed earlier that I would charge you 2,000 for each talisman. It’s just that if you want so many talismans, I may not be able to make them all quickly.”
Su Xiwan said, looking at the jade again. Carving talismans with jade requires more spiritual energy, and charging Ji Hangyi 2,000 for each talisman is indeed not much, but Su Xiwan has never carved talismans with jade before. So, this is an opportunity for practice, and Su Xiwan feels that charging Ji Hangyi 2,000 is fair.
Upon hearing Su Xiwan’s words, Ji Hangyi immediately waved his hand generously and said, “Master Su, I said 200,000, so it’s 200,000. You don’t need to help me save money. Take your time with these talismans. I have the ones you gave me on me, so there’s no rush to use them!”
Ji Hangyi, feeling touched, thought that Master Su was truly generous.
Watching Ji Hangyi and Su Xiwan finish their conversation, Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen, who had been sitting quietly on the side, were shocked. From the conversation between Ji Hangyi and Su Xiwan, they could vaguely hear that Su Xiwan was actually a feng shui master, and a quite capable one at that!
Mu Jingchen, after hearing Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen’s words, hesitated for a moment and looked at Su Xiwan, saying, “Su, I’m Mu Jingchen, and this is my father Mu Hongtao. We saw you on TV yesterday and thought you looked a lot like my long-lost sister. That’s why we came to disturb you today. Would you be willing to cooperate with us for a paternity test?”
After Mu Jingchen finished speaking, he looked nervously at Su Xiwan, his heart beating faster involuntarily. Mu Hongtao beside him also showed a hopeful look and said gently, “Yue… Su, your date of birth and the hospital where you were born are the same as our lost child’s, and you look a lot like my wife. I think all of this is too coincidental, so I believe there’s a high possibility that you are our Mu family’s child.”
Ji Hangyi, on the other hand, was somewhat stunned after hearing Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen’s words. This… can’t be so coincidental, right?
The matter of the lost child in the Mu family is not a secret in the wealthy circles of Jing City, but… but, it’s too surreal that Su Xiwan could possibly be the one. The fact that the Mu family’s lost child has been in Jing City all along, and is even a master, and even a top scorer in the college entrance examination! His mouth slightly agape, his eyes wide open, he found it difficult to digest this astonishing news.
Upon hearing Mu Jingchen and Mu Hongtao’s words, Su Xiwan suddenly understood. When she saw Mu Jingchen and Mu Hongtao just now, she had some doubts, and later when she saw their facial features, she became somewhat certain.
As she just realized she couldn’t clearly discern their facial features, she probably attributed it to their blood relation.
Regardless of the mixed emotions Su Xiwan was experiencing at the moment, she maintained a calm demeanor. She had hoped for family for over a decade, only to be disappointed for just as long.
A few years ago, when she discovered that Su Maoyue and Fang Qinghui were not her biological parents, she lost that hope for family.
So, facing Mu Jingchen and Mu Hongtao’s hopeful gazes at this moment, she didn’t know how to respond, unsure if she should be happy or sad.
“Well, I’m willing to cooperate with you for the test!” Su Xiwan took a deep breath to calm herself down and said to Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen.
Although she was now certain that the two in front of her had a strong blood relation with her, she knew the necessary procedures had to be followed.
While she felt her life was good after leaving the Su family—having freedom, earning a living, and getting into her dream university values karma greatly. She couldn’t ignore her blood ties to the Mu family, who had been searching for her for so many years. This was not something she could simply give up.
Moreover, the way she was switched at birth and the treatment she received in the Su family were linked to the incident at the hospital. She couldn’t escape these connections. Now, it seemed like she still had a glimmer of hope for the unknown family and the familial love she had longed for since childhood.
So, she felt that she should accept whatever comes her way, let things unfold naturally, and face it all with equanimity.
Next to her, Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen, who had been waiting for Su Xiwan’s response, couldn’t help but show happy smiles upon hearing her words.
Su Xiwan cooperated by pulling out a strand of her hair in front of Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen and handing it to Mu Jingchen.
Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen were eager to proceed with the paternity test and wished the results could come out immediately. They wanted to take the samples to the hospital as soon as possible, so they bid a reluctant farewell to Su Xiwan.
“Su, thank you so much. We’ll take our leave now, and we’ll inform you as soon as the results are out,” Mu Hongtao’s voice was filled with gratitude and anticipation.
Ji Hangyi, with a strong curiosity about this matter, also bid farewell to Su Xiwan and followed closely behind Mu Jingchen, hoping to find an opportunity to inquire about the truth of the situation.
