Chapter 27 Our Yueyue Has Been Found
Mu Hongtao watched Mu Jincheng’s car slowly drive away, his gaze filled with relief and anticipation. After the car disappeared from sight, he turned around and walked towards the community with a somewhat hurried pace. His heart was filled with overwhelming excitement because his daughter had been found. His and his wife’s long-lost daughter was finally back.
Mu Hongtao couldn’t help but slightly raise the corners of his lips. He longed to announce this great news to everyone he passed by, to tell them that his daughter who had been lost for so many years had finally been found.
However, the person he most wanted to tell was his wife. Over the years, she had sacrificed so much in the search for their daughter. Every hope and disappointment was like a sharp blade, leaving deep scars on her heart.
Thinking of this, he silently put his phone back in his pocket and quickened his pace towards their villa.
Mu Hongtao opened the door, and the house was quiet. Due to Jiang Xingman’s health, they only hired a maid to help with cooking and cleaning.
The downstairs was quiet. Mu Hongtao assumed that Jiang Xingman had gone back to the bedroom. So, he tiptoed upstairs to their bedroom door.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm his excited heart. He kept thinking about what to say, how to tell his wife about this incredibly happy event.
Mu Hongtao gently pushed open the door. Jiang Xingman, who was applying a face mask at the dressing table, heard the sound of the door opening. She turned around from the dressing mirror and saw Mu Hongtao. She was surprised:
“Husband, why are you back now? Didn’t Jincheng take you to the company? Did you forget to bring something?”
Mu Hongtao came in front of Jiang Xingman. While helping her adjust the face mask that wasn’t fully unfolded, he said, “No, wife, I have something to tell you. Promise me you won’t get too excited, okay?”
Jiang Xingman was stunned when she heard Mu Hongtao’s words. She nodded and said, “Tell me. I’ll try to control myself.” At this moment, Jiang Xingman had a vague feeling that what Mu Hongtao was about to say was most likely related to their missing daughter.
However, they had experienced so many disappointments over the years. Every time they had hoped, it had turned into nothing. But as long as there was a glimmer of hope of finding their daughter, even if they had to face countless disappointments, she was willing to do whatever it took to find her daughter.
Mu Hongtao looked at Jiang Xingman and slowly started to narrate the story from the moment Mu Jincheng and Mu Patriarch saw Su Xiwan on TV and thought she resembled them.
As Mu Hongtao spoke, his eyes were fixed on Jiang Xingman, fearing that she might have an accident due to excessive excitement. When he mentioned that today Jincheng came to pick him up, not to go to the company but to the hospital to get the paternity test results.
Jiang Xingman was a bit incredulous. She pulled off the face mask, grabbed Mu Hongtao’s hands, and asked with a trembling voice:
“This Su Xiwan… is she our Yueyue, right?”
From Mu Hongtao’s words, Jiang Xingman realized that he and Jincheng had secretly gone for a paternity test with this girl named Su Xiwan. They had kept it from her, probably because they were afraid that she couldn’t handle another disappointment. But now Mu Hongtao was telling her… that meant this Su Xiwan was their Yueyue, right?
Mu Hongtao, seeing his wife’s excited state, felt both heartache and relief. He reached out and hugged Jiang Xingman tightly, comforting her, “Wife, don’t get too excited now. For the sake of our daughter, you need to calm down.”
Jiang Xingman, who had been a bit excited, realized that she was indeed losing control. She gently pulled away from Mu Hongtao’s embrace, took a few deep breaths, and forced herself to calm down.
She looked up at Mu Hongtao again, her eyes filled with tears, her voice choked with emotion, “Our Yueyue has been found, right?”
Mu Hongtao, seeing his wife’s appearance, felt a surge of tenderness. He nodded heavily, “Yes, our daughter has been found!”
Seeing that his wife’s condition was relatively stable, he took his phone out of his pocket, found the photo he had taken of the paternity test result, and handed it to Jiang Xingman.
Jiang Xingman, with trembling hands, took the phone from Mu Hongtao. When she saw the results at the end of the report, she couldn’t hold back anymore. Tears streamed down her face, and she looked at Mu Hongtao, overjoyed and weeping, “It’s really our Yueyue. Our Yueyue has been found! It’s been eighteen years. Our daughter has been away from us for eighteen years!”
Jiang Xingman’s voice was filled with endless emotion and joy. Mu Hongtao realized that he needed to act quickly. He placed his hands on Jiang Xingman’s shoulders, looked at her softly, and said, “Wife, don’t get too excited. Jincheng has gone to pick up Yueyue. We’ll see our daughter soon. You wouldn’t want our daughter to see you crying with red and swollen eyes, would you?”
Jiang Xingman, hearing Mu Hongtao say that her daughter would be coming home soon, immediately pushed him away.
“I’ll go wash up first. Did Jincheng go to pick up Yueyue? Why didn’t he call us to go together? That way, we could go pick up Yueyue together, and I could see Yueyue sooner!”
Mu Hongtao followed Jiang Xingman to the bathroom. He said helplessly, “I was afraid that you’d be too excited and couldn’t handle it, so I split up with Jincheng. Wife, do you know? Our daughter is so amazing. She’s actually the top scorer in this year’s college entrance exam. Haha, she’s so smart, just like Jincheng, it’s clear she inherited our good genes!”
Jiang Xingman, while diligently washing up, was immersed in the joy of her daughter’s return. When she heard Mu Hongtao praising his son and daughter, she couldn’t help but include herself. She looked at her husband with a smile, then started to imagine the scene of seeing her daughter…
———
Meanwhile, Mu Jincheng drove to Su Xiwan’s neighborhood. After knocking on her door, he looked at the closed door with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation. It felt like behind that door lay his long-held expectations and dreams.
Su Xiwan, who had been busy carving talismans, heard the knocking and put down her carving tools. She opened the door to her rented apartment.
As soon as Su Xiwan opened the door, she saw Mu Jincheng, his face filled with excitement and joy. Su Xiwan instantly understood why Mu Jincheng had come. A wave of complex emotions washed over her.
Su Xiwan politely stepped aside and said, “Come in first.”
After Mu Jincheng entered the room, he turned to look at Su Xiwan, who was closing the door. The youthful and beautiful girl in front of him was the sister they had been searching for for eighteen years, the sister who shared the same blood with him.
Mu Jincheng looked at Su Xiwan, who was walking towards him. He pursed his dry lips, then carefully considered his words for a moment before speaking.
“Well, the paternity test results came back. You… you’re my sister, the little princess of the Mu family who has been missing for eighteen years – Mu Yunyue!”
Mu Jincheng’s voice trembled slightly, filled with uncontrollable excitement and joy. After he finished speaking, he handed the paternity test report sheet that he had been holding to Su Xiwan.
Su Xiwan, hearing Mu Jincheng’s words, wasn’t surprised. After all, during the time they were waiting for the results, she had a feeling in her heart. She took the report sheet and flipped directly to the last page. When she saw the results, she fell silent.
After leaving the Su family, she had started to envision her future. Her current abilities were enough to support herself and maintain her studies.
She had planned to enter Beijing University’s Xuanfa Department and live a simple life.
But she never imagined that she would find her biological parents. It all happened so suddenly, catching her off guard. She looked up at Mu Jincheng, who was looking at her with concern and heartache. She didn’t know what to say. Su Xiwan, who had always planned her future, suddenly felt a sense of confusion.
