Chapter 40 Ji Yuanxi’s Accident
Mu Hongye was stunned. After all, Ji Hangyi was his wife’s own nephew.
A couple of days ago, he had heard his wife mention something about Ji Hangyi encountering some bad things, and he had hired a master to deal with it.
He had even advised his wife to talk to Ji Hangyi, telling him not to be so superstitious at such a young age. But who would have thought that the master was his own niece?
Thinking about this, Mu Hongye suddenly felt that the world was a bit surreal. He was a soldier, and years of military service and a firm belief in materialism filled him with contradictions and confusion when faced with such supernatural claims.
Although he didn’t want to believe in the existence of ghosts and spirits, there were still many feng shui masters in the wealthy circle. And he trusted his elder brother more, knowing that he wasn’t someone who would casually tell such things.
Mu Hongye pursed his dry lips. He was used to being strict with his soldiers in the army, but his niece was delicate and weak, and he was afraid of scaring her.
So he tried to be gentle and asked Mu Xiwan, “Mu Xiwan, are there really ghosts in this world?”
Hearing Mu Hongye’s question, Mu Xiwan smiled and said, “Yes. If Second Uncle is curious, I’ll help you open your third eye sometime and let you see it for yourself!”
Mu Hongsong, sitting next to him, had heard some rumors. He vaguely remembered hearing someone say that the country had established a Spiritual Affairs Bureau, and that various universities had also begun to open related courses on the occult.
However, he had never seen a ghost with his own eyes. Thinking about this, Mu Hongsong said to Mu Xiwan with some embarrassment, “Mu Xiwan, let me see it too when the time comes!”
Mu Xiwan looked at her two uncles with a smile. She nodded and said, “Okay. When we have the chance, I’ll let Second Uncle and Third Uncle see it together!”
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw a look of anticipation on Mu Hongtao’s face. She quickly continued, “And Dad too!”
Hearing his daughter say this, Mu Hongtao immediately said, “Good, good!”
His daughter was really considerate. Whenever she had something interesting, she never forgot to include him.
Mu Xiwan smiled at the three people who were hoping to meet a ghost. She thought that she would find them a harmless and innocent spirit, otherwise, she was really afraid of scaring her three elders.

Beijing First People’s Hospital
Ji Yuanxi arrived at the hospital early in the morning. She had two surgeries scheduled for that day. Both surgeries were very challenging, requiring a high degree of focus and advanced skills. After the two surgeries, Ji Yuanxi felt extremely tired.
As she walked out of the operating room, she felt an unprecedented fatigue. Rubbing her temples, she realized she hadn’t had lunch yet. So she told her colleagues in the department and prepared to go downstairs to the hospital’s restaurant for a meal.
As she walked downstairs and out of the building where she was staying, she vaguely heard people shouting.
Ji Yuanxi thought it was some patient who had arrived. But when she looked up, she saw a car traveling at high speed, like an out-of-control beast, barreling towards her.
Seeing this, Ji Yuanxi was instantly stunned. Her brain seemed to stop working for a moment. The driver in the car also quickly slammed on the brakes, but unfortunately, his speed was too high, and the car was very close to Ji Yuanxi.
In the blink of an eye, the car was beside Ji Yuanxi. At this moment, Ji Yuanxi was scared and closed her eyes. She thought of dodging, but perhaps because she had just finished surgery, her brain was still in a daze, and her body seemed to be out of her control.
Ji Yuanxi only felt a strong force hitting her. At that moment, she thought, “It’s over!” But strangely, she suddenly felt a warmth in her chest, and then she felt surrounded by a soft, soft space, preventing her from falling.
The bystanders, who had witnessed everything, looked at all this in astonishment. It was unbelievable. The driver had been going so fast, but the female doctor who was hit didn’t suffer any injuries!
At this moment, Ji Yuanxi was also standing there, a little shaken, her legs trembling slightly. Among the people who had just witnessed everything, there were also doctors from the hospital.
They saw that the person who was hit was their colleague and hurried to Ji Yuanxi to check her injuries.
At this point, Ji Yuanxi had regained her senses and waved her hand to the people, “I’m fine!”
Her voice was still trembling, and her eyes were filled with disbelief.
The driver who had been driving also quickly got out of the car, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. There was an emergency patient in my car, and I was driving too fast. I didn’t see you.”
The driver’s face was full of fear and guilt, and sweat kept dripping from his forehead.
Before Ji Yuanxi and the other doctors could say anything, they heard the onlookers say, “What’s the use of saying sorry? This doctor is lucky, or we wouldn’t even dare to imagine the consequences!”
“Exactly, exactly. This female doctor is so lucky. The situation just now was really serious, but she didn’t get hurt at all!”
“Yes, I also feel unbelievable. After all, the driver was going so fast just now. It’s as if something was protecting this female doctor.”
…………
The words of the people around her all reached Ji Yuanxi’s ears. When she heard the last person say that something seemed to be protecting her, she instantly thought of the talisman Mu Xiwan had given her that morning.
Then she recalled the warmth she had felt in her chest. She quickly unbuttoned her white coat and reached into her shirt pocket.
The talisman was gone, leaving only some ash-like residue.
Ji Yuanxi took it out and realized she wasn’t mistaken. The talisman had turned into ashes.
At this moment, Ji Yuanxi didn’t know how to describe her feelings. In the morning, when Mu Xiwan had given her the talisman, she had secretly laughed at her for believing in such things.
If it hadn’t been for the concern in Mu Xiwan’s eyes, she might not have carried the talisman with her. And if she hadn’t had the talisman, she really didn’t dare to imagine what would have happened to her in that situation.
While Ji Yuanxi was thinking about all this, the anxious driver, with a look of apology, said, “Doctor, I’m so sorry. I was worried about my sick mother, so I was driving a little fast. Why don’t you go get checked up? Don’t worry, I’ll cover all the expenses!”
Brought back to her senses, Ji Yuanxi looked at the anxious driver and then at the elderly person sitting in the back seat. She quickly said, “I’m fine. Go ahead and get your mother checked up. The elderly person’s health is important!”
At this moment, Ji Yuanxi was certain that she was perfectly fine. And the driver really did this because he was worried about his mother’s illness. As a doctor, she habitually prioritized the patient’s health.
Seeing that Ji Yuanxi said this, the driver was still a little uneasy. He left his contact information, telling Ji Yuanxi to contact him if she felt uncomfortable.
The incident ended with the driver’s repeated gratitude. But Ji Yuanxi was still a little shaken.
At this moment, Ji Yuanxi didn’t want to stay at the hospital for a minute. She wanted to go back to the old house, she wanted to see Mu Xiwan, she wanted to tell her about everything that had happened today.
