First Night as a Military Wife in the ’80s: The Strongest Officer Broke His Vow Chapter 51

Chapter 51: A Battle Between Men

Sheng Hao had imagined many times what kind of man Jiang Zhi Ning’s husband might be.

But never had he thought it would be him!

Song Yuzhou, whose military rank was far above his own!

At this moment, Sheng Hao’s heart surged with emotions. “Jiang Zhi Ning, is he really your husband?”

Seeing the expression on his face, Jiang Zhi Ning affectionately took Song Yuzhou’s arm, smiling sweetly. “Of course he is.”

Sheng Hao clenched his fists tightly, his gaze shifting to Song Yuzhou. “Deputy Commander Song, are you free right now? How about we have a match?”

In the entire military base, the person Sheng Hao hated most was Song Yuzhou.

Though he wasn’t much older than him, his abilities and status were far superior.

Seeing the defiance in his eyes, Song Yuzhou replied calmly, “Alright.”

With that, the two walked side by side into the training grounds.

Watching them, the soldiers around started whispering in curiosity:
“What’s going on between Commander Song and Commander Sheng? The atmosphere seems… weird.”
“Yeah, I feel it too.”

Jiang Zhi Ning watched the scene with indifference. She wasn’t surprised at all by Sheng Hao’s reaction.

After all, he used to have a girl constantly clinging to him, and now that same girl had turned around and married a man much more outstanding than him. Of course, he’d feel bitter.

Soon, the two men began sparring.

Sheng Hao attacked fiercely, his punches aimed directly at vital spots.

Unfortunately, Song Yuzhou’s skills were leagues above his. Every strike was effortlessly blocked—and not only that, Song Yuzhou managed to counterattack before Sheng Hao could even react.

In just a few minutes, Sheng Hao was pinned hard to the ground by Song Yuzhou.

He tried to rise, but Song Yuzhou locked his throat with his arm, giving him no chance to move.

“You lost,” Song Yuzhou said coldly.

Lost? Hearing that, Sheng Hao flared up. “There’s no way I lost!”

As he tried to land a kick, Song Yuzhou had already anticipated it and pinned down his knee.

Losing to Song Yuzhou in front of Jiang Zhi Ning made Sheng Hao feel utterly humiliated.

“You already have a kid—why did you even marry her? Looking for a nanny?” Sheng Hao growled viciously.

Song Yuzhou replied with composure, “I love her. And besides, this is between the two of us. You’d better remember your place.”

With that, Song Yuzhou let him go and stood up to leave.

But just a few steps away, Sheng Hao suddenly shouted:
Song Yuzhou, do you know your wife is nothing but trash I wouldn’t even look at?!

The soldiers nearby were stunned, turning to look at Sheng Hao and Jiang Zhi Ning in shock.

Song Yuzhou’s eyes darkened dangerously. He spun around, delivering a spinning kick straight to Sheng Hao’s face.

The kick landed square on the nose, and blood immediately gushed out.

Still not satisfied, Song Yuzhou, burning with rage at the insult, pinned Sheng Hao to the ground again and began punching him furiously.

Thud! Thud! Thud!
Each punch carried full force.

Sheng Hao’s once-handsome face quickly swelled up from the beating.

Seeing Song Yuzhou lose control, the soldiers hurried to stop him before he seriously injured or even killed Sheng Hao.

“Say that again if you dare,” Song Yuzhou growled, his eyes ice-cold.

“Jiang Zhi Ning is—” Sheng Hao tried to speak, but Song Yuzhou’s fist landed right on his mouth before he could finish.

Sheng Hao felt a tooth loosen. Panic flickered briefly in his eyes.

Seeing that the soldiers couldn’t stop him, Jiang Zhi Ning finally stepped forward.

“Yuzhou.”

Her soft voice pulled him back to reason.

She walked up to his side, smiled gracefully, and said,
“He’s not worth getting punished over.”

Song Yuzhou responded with a quiet hum. “A man who can say something like that is definitely trash.”

Then, he finally stood up.

Facing the curious gazes of the soldiers, Jiang Zhi Ning smiled faintly and explained,
“Back then, I was blind. My family arranged an engagement with Sheng Hao, and I thought I liked him. But now, my eyes are fine. His family broke off the engagement, and I don’t want anything to do with him either.”

Sheng Hao, face bruised and swollen, looked utterly humiliated.

The soldiers whispered among themselves:
“I’ve heard about this. The original engagement was to another girl in the family, but they swapped her out. Turns out the poor girl they dumped was actually our sister-in-law!”

Everyone turned to Jiang Zhi Ning with sympathy and admiration.

She smiled lightly. “Don’t look at me like that. I guess misfortune turned into a blessing—I ended up with your Commander Song.”

“You had poor judgment. I’m not like you,” Song Yuzhou said coolly.

Jiang Zhi Ning tugged his hand and cooed sweetly, “Don’t be mad, Yuzhou. Everyone stumbles over a bit of trash now and then.”

Song Yuzhou looked at her calmly and replied in a low voice, “I’ll walk you out.”

“Okay.”

She agreed readily, and he took her hand as they left.

But just as they exited the training ground, Sheng Hao’s voice, filled with rage, echoed behind them:
“Jiang Zhi Ning is really willing to go be a housemaid for him!”

Hearing that, Song Yuzhou’s brows furrowed.

Jiang Zhi Ning turned around calmly and sneered,
“Sheng Hao, what right do you have to say that to me? Are you speaking as my ex-fiancé after calling off the engagement?”

“I…”

“Let’s be clear—we have nothing to do with each other anymore. And even if we did, who I marry is none of your business,” she said mockingly.

Sheng Hao clenched his fists. “I just pity you. I was trying to warn you out of kindness.”

“Oh really? Sounds more like regret. Regret for missing your chance. But too bad—I’m not interested in you,” Jiang Zhi Ning leaned her head against Song Yuzhou’s shoulder. “I’m the wife of your superior now. You’d better watch your mouth.”

Sheng Hao’s face went pale. It was not a pleasant sight.

“No one wants to marry him and be a stepmom. Only you would throw yourself at him,” he spat.

Song Yuzhou, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke:
“I love her. I didn’t marry her to be a nanny. Sheng Hao, you’d better learn to watch your words. Otherwise, I’ll have you dealt with by military law. Understood?”

Sheng Hao’s face turned ashen, but as Song Yuzhou was his superior officer, he had no power to argue.

“…Yes.” He replied unwillingly.

Watching him suffer was immensely satisfying to Jiang Zhi Ning.

She hadn’t expected marrying Song Yuzhou would annoy Sheng Hao this much—it was a bonus.

Not liking how Sheng Hao looked at her, Song Yuzhou led her away.

Behind them, enraged, Sheng Hao kicked a nearby fence, nostrils flaring:
“Jiang Zhi Ning actually married Song Yuzhou! After leaving me, how could she find a better man?”

Unwilling to accept the reality, Sheng Hao began convincing himself:
“She must still love me. She probably thought if she couldn’t marry me, marrying anyone else wouldn’t matter. That’s the only reason she picked an older guy with a kid.”

Repeating it to himself over and over, Sheng Hao eventually settled on that belief.

“Hmph, next month I’ll be promoted to Battalion Commander. With my family’s backing, I’ll become a Regimental Commander soon. Damn it! How dare he beat me like that. I’ll make sure I crush Song Yuzhou under my boot and teach him a lesson!”
