Chapter 28: Fixing the Truck (Part 2)
Little did they know, Zhao Xiulan replied, “I know how. I can fix trucks. My skills may not be that great, but I can give it a try!”
Upon hearing Zhao Xiulan’s words, both Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng looked at her with some surprise.
She actually knows how to fix trucks?
How could it be?
In this day and age, trucks are rare, and skilled technicians who can repair them are extremely scarce. It’s unlikely to find even one or two in a county. Zhao Xiulan, a girl from the countryside, how could she know how to fix trucks?
Seeing the expressions on Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng’s faces, Zhao Xiulan knew what these two were thinking, but she couldn’t explain.
In the apocalypse, knowing how to repair cars and trucks is a necessary skill. To evade those zombies, cars and trucks are important tools.
Before the apocalypse arrived, Zhao Xiulan specifically attended an automotive repair school to learn.
Although not as skilled as professional technicians, she could handle most common problems.
In the apocalypse, she had fixed all the problems with cars and trucks that appeared.
In the midst of Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng’s stunned gazes, Zhao Xiulan opened the hood of the truck and began inspecting.
Lu Qingguo saw Zhao Xiulan inspecting the truck and realized that she seemed to know what she was doing.
If she didn’t know how to fix trucks, she wouldn’t be tinkering with it.
Suddenly, Lu Qingguo felt a glimmer of hope, hoping that Zhao Xiulan could really fix it. Otherwise, leaving the truck here wasn’t a solution. He would have to find a technician to fix it, which would be troublesome and time-consuming.
If Zhao Xiulan could help solve the problem directly, it would save him a lot of trouble.
After a brief inspection, Zhao Xiulan quickly identified the problem and asked Lu Qingguo for tools. Then, she began repairing the engine.
Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng stood by, watching Zhao Xiulan fix the truck.
Zhao Xiulan was rather slim, having suffered from malnutrition for a long time, which made her look skinny.
For some reason, when Zhao Xiulan was repairing the truck, her eyes were focused and serious, completely different from her usual appearance. There was an inexplicable vigour emanating from her, which was somewhat attractive.
Jiang Cheng felt that he had never seen such a “special” girl before.
After tinkering for ten minutes, Zhao Xiulan put away the tools and said to Lu Qingguo, “Alright, comrade, you can give it a try now. It should start!”
Lu Qingguo hurriedly agreed and quickly tried the key. Unexpectedly, the truck actually started.
After getting off the truck, Lu Qingguo walked up to Zhao Xiulan and expressed his gratitude, “Comrade, thank you so much! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t know how to fix this truck!”
Zhao Xiulan wiped the sweat from her forehead and smiled brightly, “It’s nothing, just a little effort. We should learn from Comrade Lei Feng’s spirit[1]Lei Feng (1940 – 1962) was a soldier in the People’s Liberation Army who was the object of several major propaganda campaigns in China. The most well-known of these … Continue reading and be enthusiastic about helping others!”
Although Zhao Xiulan said this with her mouth, her thoughts were not entirely like that.
Just now at the state-owned restaurant, she had already figured it out. Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng were definitely not simple.
Especially Jiang Cheng, being able to produce special coupons, must have a special status.
Being helpless and alone in this era, it’s best to make friends with powerful people.
Now that she had the ability to help them, helping them would naturally make them her friends, and it would also give her more options in the future.
Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng naturally had no idea about the little tricks Zhao Xiulan was playing in her mind.
