Chapter 47: Colonel Mu, Great Skills
While waiting for Xia Tianyou, Mu Nanhe gradually regained his composure, analyzing the situation around Yang Qingyan’s abduction. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became that it was likely the work of Li Fang’s brother, Li Ming. After all, Li Fang and Bai Yiling’s visit to the hospital today seemed too coincidental.
Realizing this, Mu Nanhe wasted no time and rushed back to the hospital room. He flung the door open with a loud bang, startling Li Fang and Bai Yiling, who were still inside. With eyes wide open, furious like a lion, he seized Li Fang by the neck, exuding uncontainable anger as he demanded, “Tell me, where have they taken Qingyan?”
Li Fang was terrified, her face turning pale instantly. She trembled uncontrollably like a leaf caught in the wind, shaking her head as she stammered, “W-what are you talking about? I…I don’t know.”
Seeing she refused to tell the truth, Mu Nanhe tightened his grip, making Li Fang’s face turn red from the lack of airflow as her eyes bulged, desperately flailing her hands in an attempt to pry his fingers off.
Seeing this, Bai Yiling rushed forward, grabbing Mu Nanhe’s arm and shouting, “Let go of my mom! What are you doing?”
Losing all patience, Mu Nanhe shrugged her off, causing Bai Yiling to stumble nearly to the floor. He then grasped her neck, shouting at Li Fang, “Speak right now, or I’ll make Bai Yiling pay the price!”
Bai Yiling’s face turned purple as fear filled her eyes. She could barely make choking sounds, on the verge of suffocation.
Watching her daughter’s struggle caused Li Fang to panic even more. Gasping for breath, she finally said, “I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you! They took Yang Qingyan to No. 10 Wutong Street!”
Only then did Mu Nanhe release Bai Yiling, who collapsed to the ground, coughing violently, her face smeared with tears and snot. Without a moment of hesitation, Mu Nanhe swiftly wheeled himself toward the hospital exit.
Just then, Xia Tianyou arrived at the hospital. Before the car had even come to a complete stop, Mu Nanhe had swiftly rolled up to the side. Xia Tianyou rolled down the window, anxious as he asked, “Colonel Mu, what happened?”
Mu Nanhe said urgently, “Tianyou, there’s no time to explain! Qingyan has been taken to No. 10 Wutong Street. We need to hurry!”
Xia Tianyou’s expression hardened at the news. Without another word, he jumped out of the car, quickly loaded Mu Nanhe’s wheelchair into the trunk, and helped him into the passenger seat. He then hopped back into the driver’s seat, stepping on the gas and speeding toward Wutong Street.
As he drove, he reassured Mu Nanhe, “Don’t worry, Colonel. We’ll get there in time to rescue Dr. Wang.”
Mu Nanhe nodded slightly, yet his heart remained anxious. His mind raced with various scenarios and strategies, eager to reach Wutong Street and see Yang Qingyan, confirming her safety.
When they arrived at No. 10 Wutong Street and pushed the door open, they were met with an empty room, save for a rope lying on the floor, as if mocking them for being too late.
Frantic, Mu Nanhe’s forehead pulsed with veins, and he shouted, “We split up and search! We can’t let them get away!”
Xia Tianyou nodded firmly, and they quickly separated, searching in different directions.
Mu Nanhe navigated the narrow street with determination in his wheelchair, his eyes sharp as a hawk, leaving no suspicious corner unchecked. As he turned into a nearby alley, the sight that met him ignited his fury.
A group of thugs was gathered around Li Ming, encircling Yang Qingyan. Her hair was messy, but her gaze was strong and defiant.
“Qingyan!” Mu Nanhe yelled at the top of his lungs as he wheeled himself toward them at full speed. On the ground, he spotted some stones and grabbed a few as he approached the thugs. Just before getting too close, he hurled the stones with precision, hitting the thugs’ legs.
The thugs cried out in pain, hunching over and clutching their wounds. Taking advantage of the distraction, Yang Qingyan broke free from her restraints and dashed toward Mu Nanhe.
He quickly pulled her behind him, gripping her shoulders tightly as he scanned her with concern and care, asking anxiously, “Qingyan, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” she replied, shaking her head.
The thugs, recovering from their shock, stood up, their faces twisted in anger. Li Ming was even angrier, his face pale with rage. His fingers trembled as he pointed at Mu Nanhe and Yang Qingyan, trying to scream, only to be unable to make any sound due to the previous needle injury inflicted by Yang Qingyan.
Mu Nanhe shielded Yang Qingyan behind him, saying calmly, “Stay careful, Qingyan.” He then bent down to grab more stones, his eyes filled with resolute determination.
As the thugs moved closer, Mu Nanhe launched the stones once more, the wind whooshing as they flew through the air, striking down the thugs who stumbled and crawled backward. After several exchanges, multiple thugs lay helplessly on the ground.
Seeing the situation turning against him, Li Ming decided to flee. But Mu Nanhe wouldn’t allow him to escape. He quickly snatched up a larger stone and hurled it with all his strength, hitting Li Ming squarely in the back, causing him to stumble and fall.
Just then, Xia Tianyou arrived, and upon seeing the chaotic scene of fallen thugs and the defeated Li Ming, he couldn’t help but give a thumbs up to Mu Nanhe. “Colonel Mu, impressive skills!”
Mu Nanhe shook his head slightly, his gaze never leaving Yang Qingyan. At that moment, all he wanted was to hold her tightly and ensure she was truly unharmed.
