Chapter 38 : Wedding Night

On the way home, Su Mo could clearly feel Lu Changzheng’s intense gaze on her, so much so that she didn’t dare to meet his eyes.  

When they arrived, Lu Changzheng lit the kerosene lamp and began preparing to boil water.  

“Wife,” he said, “there’s no bathroom in this house. You can use the tub to wash for now. Next spring, we’ll find someone to build a proper bathroom.”  

The bathroom here was only used in the summer. Winters were so cold that most people avoided bathing and opted for public bathhouses instead. When constructing the house, he had considered combining the toilet and bathroom, but now realized his wife wouldn’t want to bathe in the toilet.  

When the water boiled, Lu Changzheng poured a large basin of hot water into the tub and gestured for Su Mo to take her bath. He then carried another bucket of hot water to the bathroom to clean himself up.  

“Wife,” he called as he left the room, “just leave the water when you’re done. I’ll take care of it later.”  

Su Mo nodded, feeling slightly self-conscious.  

It was natural for newlyweds to consummate their marriage on their wedding night, and she had mentally prepared herself for it. Yet now, faced with the reality, she couldn’t shake her nervousness.  

It wasn’t just Su Mo who felt this way, Lu Changzheng was nervous too.  

He finished washing quickly, but hearing the sound of water still coming from inside, he lingered by the door.  

Inside, Su Mo took extra care, using a fragrant shower gel she had brought along. She wanted their first night to leave as many sweet memories as possible.  

After changing into a simple cotton nightgown, she stepped back into the room. The dim, flickering light of the kerosene lamp cast long shadows, heightening her unease.  

Just days ago, she had amused herself with the idea of “teaching” Lu Changzheng on their wedding night, given her knowledge from the future. But now that the moment was here, she found herself wanting to run away.  

Smiling bitterly, Su Mo thought, ‘This must be what people mean when they say the bold talk big, but the timid lose their nerve when the time comes.’  

Outside, Lu Changzheng hesitated. When the sound of water stopped but his wife didn’t call out, he finally asked, “Wife, are you done?”  

His voice, deeper and huskier than usual, startled Su Mo. Realizing she had forgotten to tell him, she quickly replied, “Yes, I’m done!”  

Hearing her response, he entered the room, carrying the used bathwater outside to pour it into the drain by the door. As he drew closer, the faint sweet fragrance lingering in the room made his lower abdomen tighten.  

After disposing of the water, he checked the gate to ensure it was securely latched, then returned to the house and locked the door behind him.  

Entering the room, his steps slowed. Seeing his wife sitting quietly on the edge of the kang, her head slightly lowered and her figure illuminated softly by the lamp, he felt a lump in his throat.  

“Wife,” he said, his voice still hoarse, “let’s settle in, then.”  

Su Mo nodded, her cheeks flushed. She climbed onto the kang and lay down, feeling a wave of nervous anticipation.  

Seeing her unease, Lu Changzheng suddenly felt much calmer. As a man, he thought, it was his role to keep steady and care for his wife’s emotions.  

Climbing onto the kang, he first closed the window, then pulled the curtains tightly shut. After turning off the kerosene lamp, the room was plunged into quiet darkness.  

The moonlight tonight is still quite bright, and the curtains at this time don’t block much light, so the moonlight still shines through, and the room isn’t too dark.

Su Mo can feel the man lying down next to her, then slowly moving closer.

She had read in a book before that the harmony in a couple’s relationship is important, especially in that aspect. So, even though she was nervous, she tried to relax and cooperate with him.

Two beginners began their first exploration of life.

At first, Su Mo was in a lot of pain, constantly trying to retreat, making Lu Changzheng break into a cold sweat.

“Wife, don’t keep pulling back, you’re almost falling off the bed,” Lu Changzheng said helplessly.

“Then go slower, it’s hurting so much,” Su Mo’s voice even carried a cry.

“Wife, it hurts for me too.”

“You’re a big man, what’s the point of you saying you’re in pain?”

Lu Changzheng felt wronged, “Wife, I’m not lying, it really hurts, I’m about to explode.”

For the first time, neither of them had a good experience, and it ended quickly.

After a short rest, the man wanted to try again, “Wife, they say the second time is better than the first, let’s try again.”

Su Mo remembered the book said this should be a wonderful experience, but she didn’t feel it at all just now, so she agreed.

The second time was much better than the first. Although Su Mo still felt some pain, at least she could feel some pleasure, while Lu Changzheng was enjoying it.

Su Mo also felt a bit tired and was preparing to rest, but not long after, the man started becoming restless again.

“Not anymore, I’m a bit tired, I want to sleep,” Su Mo refused.

“Wife, just one last time, it will be quick, we’ll sleep right after,” Lu Changzheng coaxed gently, kissing Su Mo’s earlobe.

“Wife, really, just this last time, trust me.”

Su Mo thought it was their wedding night, so she half-heartedly agreed.

But as it turned out, men’s words are deceiving.

The last time lasted longer than the previous two combined.

Su Mo was tossed and turned by Lu Changzheng, feeling like she was in both hell and heaven. In the end, if Su Mo hadn’t cried, Lu Changzheng probably wouldn’t have let her go.

Afterward, exhausted, Su Mo didn’t care much and fell asleep, sobbing.

Lu Changzheng got up, wiped her with a warm towel, and then embraced her to sleep.

The next morning, because there was no autumn harvest, there was no wake-up call, and Su Mo woke up around six o’clock.

Thinking she still had to go to the Lu family’s place in the morning, as a new wife, she couldn’t be too late, so she prepared to get up.

But she was pinned back on the bed by the man who was eager for more, and they had a morning exercise session. Annoyed, Su Mo bit him hard on his chest.

By the time they got ready and were about to leave, it was already eight o’clock, and Su Mo’s eyes were red with anger.
