Chapter 41 : You Caught My Two Stomachs

In front of Lu Changzheng, Su Mo locked the passbook and money into Kangqin’s small cabinet, planning to put them back into the space when she returned to the team.

Su Mo silently calculated in her mind and realized she already had 2,077.63 yuan in cash.

She had never imagined that the first pot of gold she earned in her later years would come through marriage.

It was nearly noon, so Su Mo prepared to make lunch.

Su Mo opened the cupboard and looked around. There was rice, flour, eggs, Chinese sausage, and bacon. After considering her options, she decided to make handmade egg noodles.

Unfortunately, there were no vegetables at home, and she couldn’t take any from her space since Lu Changzheng was at home.

Su Mo got to work immediately. She scooped two bowls of white flour and began kneading the dough.

Lu Changzheng was a bit surprised to see his wife skillfully kneading the dough.

“Wife, you know how to knead dough?” He had thought his wife only ate rice.

“Yes, my parents were busy with work, so I usually cooked.” Su Mo casually lied.

There were no restaurants in the apocalypse. If you wanted to eat something, you had to cook it yourself.

Su Mo quickly kneaded the dough. After letting it rest for a while, she picked up the rolling pin and began rolling it out. Soon, she had a large, flat, and thin piece of dough, which she then cut into wide noodles of appropriate width.

Lu Changzheng’s eyes lit up as he watched Su Mo’s smooth movements. His wife was truly a treasure. He had thought she was a delicate young lady who had never done anything traditionally associated with women, but he didn’t expect her to be capable of this.

After Su Mo cut the noodles, she asked Lu Changzheng to light the fire, heat the pan, add oil, and crack four eggs into it, frying them until both sides were golden brown. Then, she added two spoons of water, waiting for the egg soup to thicken. Once it was thick and white, she put the noodles in the pan, added a pinch of salt, and took them out after they were cooked.

The noodles were served in two bowls: hers in a small bowl, and Lu Changzheng’s in a large one. Two golden poached eggs were placed on top, then drizzled with the thick, white soup. Just by looking at it, Lu Changzheng thought it must be delicious.

After taking a bite, it was exactly as Lu Changzheng had imagined. The noodles were smooth and chewy, and the soup was sweet and fresh. It was exceptionally delicious.

“Wife, you cooked really well, as good as the chefs at state-owned restaurants,” Lu Changzheng praised without hesitation.

Su Mo nodded proudly. Her cooking skills were indeed good. If it weren’t for the lack of vegetables and other condiments, it would have tasted even better.

Lu Changzheng, looking at his wife’s little expression, felt a surge of desire. He leaned over and kissed her lightly on the lips, “Hmm, this one tastes even better.”

His playful actions made Su Mo kick him again.

After finishing his meal, Lu Changzheng washed the dishes and asked his wife, “Wife, what are we doing this afternoon?”

Su Mo pointed to the open space in the yard and said, “Help me turn the soil this afternoon. We can plant some vegetables before it snows, while there’s still time.”

She wasn’t sure if other people’s vegetables would grow well before the snow, but she was confident hers would. With her supernatural powers to stimulate growth, she estimated that she could harvest a crop in three to five days.

Of course, she couldn’t be too obvious, but she could encourage the vegetables to grow a little each day, making them grow faster.

Many of the vegetable seeds in her space had been improved by later generations, and their yield and quality were far better than current varieties. Perhaps she could also package these new varieties and claim they were homegrown, which might even help her land a job as an agricultural officer in the commune.

After thinking for a while, Su Mo decided this idea might work.

“No problem, I’ll make sure it’s done this afternoon,” Lu Changzheng promised, patting his chest. “But won’t it be too tiring for you to plant so many, wife? Maybe we can plant a little, and if it’s not enough, we can trade with others in the team.”

“Let’s plant first. If it’s too tiring, I’ll plant less next time.”

“Okay, wife, you take a nap, and I’ll go turn the soil.”

“Yeah,” Su Mo nodded.

She was indeed tired. She had stayed up late last night, So she planned to use her powers to relax and repair her body during her nap.

Su Mo slept until after two o’clock. When she woke up, she felt refreshed and no longer sore. Even the red marks on her body had faded a lot.

Su Mo opened the curtains and looked out. Lu Changzheng had already turned over more than half of the land in the yard. Not only that, but he also gathered it into similar-sized plots for her to grow vegetables.

Su Mo smiled, then took out the newspaper she had bought earlier and began reading it. After a while, she started writing.

Lu Changzheng was working hard, and she couldn’t fall behind.

When Lu Changzheng finished his work, he came inside and saw his wife sitting on the kang, writing something intently on the table. He glanced at the newspaper beside her and remembered what his wife had said about submitting an article, so he understood.

Lu Changzheng quietly stepped out again so as not to disturb her.

He planned to go to the village to exchange some vegetables and dried goods. Otherwise, they would only have rice or noodles to eat for the next few days. It was fine for him, but his wife definitely wouldn’t be used to it.

When Lu Changzheng returned from his trip to the brigade, he was holding a bamboo basket of items in his right hand and a large old hen in his left.

Su Mo heard him and came out of the house. “Where have you been? Where did the hen come from?”

“I went to the brigade to exchange things. I’ll kill this chicken later and make soup for you to nourish your body.” After saying this, Lu Changzheng carried the bamboo basket into the house, turned around to boil water, and prepared to slaughter the chicken.

Su Mo rummaged through the bamboo basket and found that Lu Changzheng had indeed exchanged a lot of things, including dried mushrooms, dried black fungus, red dates, cabbage, lettuce, radishes, potatoes, and even some side dishes like garlic and ginger.

Su Mo took the dry goods to the west room and put them away. She also took out a few cans from her space, tore off the packaging, and placed them with the items she had stored there the day before. Fortunately, Lu Changzheng hadn’t been there when she packed yesterday, or it would have been difficult to take the cans out.

After Lu Changzheng killed the chicken, Su Mo took out a clay pot from under the cupboard, washed it, placed the whole chicken in it, added a handful of dried mushrooms and red dates, poured in some water, and began stewing it in another pot.

There was no small stove at home that could heat a clay pot, so she had to stew it this way.

Although the pot was connected to a fire wall, the temperature was low at night, so burning the fire wall for a while wouldn’t make it too hot.

Seeing the lettuce, Su Mo decided to steam white rice and stir-fry the lettuce with black bean sauce.

While the chicken was stewing, Su Mo also steamed the white rice.

When the chicken soup was almost ready, Su Mo started cooking. Instantly, a fragrant aroma filled the entire house. The scent drifted outside, and several villagers passing by drooled after smelling it.

“What delicious food did Lu Changzheng make? Yesterday’s banquet was so lavish, how dare he make this today?”

“They have a high salary, so what’s wrong with having a few good meals? They just got married, so he should give his wife something nice to eat.”

“That’s true. If the bride doesn’t eat something good, the first few days of the wedding will be hard. We all know this.”

Su Mo scooped out enough chicken soup for two from the earthenware pot, then closed the lid and said to Lu Changzheng, “Send this chicken soup to our grandfather and parents.”

Lu Changzheng nodded. Since his wife was filial, he naturally wouldn’t refuse.

Lu Changzheng was a fast walker, returning in just a few minutes.

The fragrant white rice, paired with the mouth-watering stir-fried lettuce with dace in fermented black beans, made Lu Changzheng feel that this was a truly wonderful meal tonight.

His wife was really amazing in every way. Not only did she meet his expectations, but even the food she cooked was exactly to his liking.

After dinner, Lu Changzheng urged Su Mo to take a bath.

“Wife, take a shower early, and let’s rest early.”

Su Mo: …

If your eyes weren’t so fiery, I might have believed you.

Su Mo hesitated for a long time, but finally, around eight o’clock, she was forced to take a shower.

This time, Lu Changzheng did not wait outside. He took a shower early and was waiting in the room.

As soon as Su Mo entered the room, the impatient man picked her up by the waist and threw her onto the kang. Needless to say, a struggle followed.

Afterward, the man leaned over Su Mo and sighed, “Wife, you really captured my stomach at once.”

“Two stomachs?” Su Mo was a little confused.

“Well, the stomach above, and the stomach below.”

Su Mo: …

This pervert!

After a while, the man wanted to continue. Su Mo was anxious, “Lu Changzheng, this kind of thing needs to be done slowly and not too many times a day.”

“How many times a day?”

“Once a day?” Su Mo considered.

“Okay, then once a day.” Lu Changzheng replied straightforwardly, and Su Mo was a bit surprised.

“Then you have to be ready these days, wife. Once a day, 365 times a year. I can’t stay home for a few days, so you’ll have to work hard these days.”

Su Mo: …
