Chapter 154: Rest Battle
Su Yin was half asleep and half awake in the carriage. When the carriage stopped, she opened her eyes immediately.
The carriage was very crowded. Su Yin leaned against the edge of the door, and all the adults and children inside were sleeping soundly. She carefully opened the curtain.
“What’s wrong?” Su Yin asked.
Yang Rong turned his head when he heard her voice, “Yinyin, look at that stone tablet. Have we arrived at Jinghe County?”
Su Yin looked in the direction he pointed, and the three characters ‘Jinghe County’ appeared in front of her.
“Yes, we’ve arrived at Jinghe County.”
Su’s mother yawned and smiled, “We’re almost there.”
“Mom, go in and relax for a while.”
Su Yin got out of the carriage and went to the back to find Mr. Wan San.
Mr. Wan San was typing non-stop, feeling very sleepy. When he saw Su Yin approaching, he tried his best to open his small eyes and brace himself, “What’s the matter?”
Su Yin sat at the front of the cart, side by side with him.
“Fat Master, is there a place to rest ahead?”
Not having a map was troublesome. If they had one, they could often plan in advance.
Mr. Wan San tried to recall, “No. However, a few dozen miles further is Jingshan County, which is affiliated with Jinghe County.”
It was unclear whether they could enter Jingshan County, and there was no clue about the situation at the city gate.
If too many people gathered there, they would likely be mixed in with refugees passing through Baiji County.
Given the situation in Baiji County, Su Yin was worried. If it was mixed with… In short, there were uncertain risks in going to the county seat to rest, so it would be better to rest on the official road first.
As they were about to arrive in Jingshan County, it was rare to see corpses that had died of starvation in the Guandao area.
Su Yin found a place for the team to stop. Everyone was already exhausted. After walking for a day and a night, no one was without fatigue.
The children were faring relatively well, and those who could be accommodated were taken care of, but it was the young adults who were suffering.
Su Yin glanced at the sky and saw that it was probably around 10 o’clock.
“Brother Rui, let’s rest here. We’ll leave in five minutes.”
Li Rui nodded, “Okay.”
The adults quickly arranged a suitable resting place, and the children were very obedient, rubbing their sleepy eyes one by one.
With their eyes open, they followed the adults into the forest to look for firewood.
The children in the carriage were all taken away by their parents. Su Yin asked Mother Su to sleep in the carriage for a while, but Mother Su waved her hand and said, “It’s too hot in the carriage. It’s cooler outside.”
Su Yin arranged a relatively flat area and spread a straw mat on the ground so that Mother Su could sleep more comfortably.
Most of the group was resting. Since Su Yin had already slept for the rest of the night and was now awake, she decided to act as a night watchman.
Facing the rising sun, Su Yin practiced her punches, taking each one seriously.
Zhang Bingliang was about to take a rest when suddenly his father kicked him.
“You didn’t see Miss Su practicing boxing? Hurry up!”
Zhang Bingliang, who was tired from driving the whole night, replied, “Dad, Miss Su said that there is no need to practice today.”
Old Man Zhang puffed out his beard and glared at him, “Are you stupid? Just because she says no, do you really think you shouldn’t go?
Look at Miss Su; she’s a girl from the same family. You all traveled all night, and now you insist on skipping practice? You, a big man, aren’t as good as this little girl.”
Zhang Bingliang: “…”
Feeling embarrassed by Old Man Zhang’s words, he sighed resignedly, “Okay, I’ll go, I’ll go.”
Old Man Zhang looked at the second and third children who were sleeping on the straw mat.
He approached and kicked the two of them awake. “And you guys, get up!”
When the eldest grandsons saw their father, they all hurried over, eager to follow him without waiting for their grandfather to speak.
Yang Dashan was packing up the area when Wang urged, “You’ve been driving all night; go and have a rest.”
He waved his hand, “I have to go practice boxing.”
He glanced in Su Yin’s direction, and the Zhang family had already passed by.
Mrs. Wang took a look but said nothing more; she just felt sorry for her husband.
Yang Dashan walked by, followed by Yang Dachuan, Yang Dahe, Yang Hu, and others from Xinghua Village.
When Li Rui noticed this situation, he didn’t care about resting and called everyone from Lijia Village over.
Su Yin, who was focused on practicing boxing, was aware that someone was following her but didn’t pay much attention.
When she turned around, she was surprised and relieved to see that everyone had arrived.
Practicing martial arts couldn’t be accomplished overnight; it required perseverance.
Everyone who had been drowsy just moments ago woke up after going through a set of boxing techniques.
Yang Hua asked, “Yinyin, are you still fighting today?”
Since they were so active, Su Yin decided to start training as usual.
“Yes, we will continue with the battle. However, before we start, let me ask you first: what were your thoughts after the battle yesterday?”
Su Yin looked at the veteran students.
Yang Rong was the first to speak. “I don’t understand the moves well enough. I probably haven’t practiced them enough, and I can’t remember most of them most of the time.”
In fact, among all the veteran students, his eldest cousin Yang Rong was the most capable.
He used the moves well and had quick reactions, but as he mentioned, he didn’t fully understand the techniques and wasn’t proficient enough.
Additionally, his biggest shortcoming was that he had too little actual combat experience.
With more actual combat, one’s understanding and proficiency of the moves would naturally improve.
Zhou Youcai said, “I don’t know how to use it.”
This problem is a common one for most people.
“Yes, yes, I have the same problem. I was thinking about which move I should use, but I couldn’t react to the movements of my hands.
When I reacted, my opponent had already beaten me down.”
“That’s right, no. Wrong, I also encountered this problem. I obviously wanted to do this move, but my hands just couldn’t do it, and it was a mess in the end.”
Su Yin patiently listened to everyone’s feelings.
Li Rui and the others also listened carefully. They unconsciously put themselves into it, and they all felt that they wouldn’t be much better after playing.
“Yinyin, what can be done about this situation?”
“Yes.”
Everyone looked at her with bright eyes.
“Practice, carve every move and style into the muscles of the body, and let the muscles form conditioned reflexes. This is one of them.”
“Second, fight. Practice every day. Practice increases your muscle memory, and it also allows you to practice.
You review the past and learn the new, and lay a solid foundation.”
The so-called quick methods are all based on a solid foundation.
The people in front of her were all novices, the kind that couldn’t be more white.
“Know your own shortcomings, and then continue to practice and fight. This time it is still a two-on-one battle, and the opponent is still your opponent yesterday.”
The veteran students quickly divided into teams and found their old opponents.
Old man Zhang squatted aside and waved the wooden stick in his hand at his sons. The meaning was self-evident.
