Flirty and Fierce: The 80s Wife Loved by a Forbidden Soldier Chapter 24

Chapter 24

“There’s no discount on the stockings. But I’ll take a set of the small-sized knitted top and jeans. Will you do seventy?”

The first girl’s eyes sparkled brightly as she asked Su Wan, as if she might cry on the spot if Su Wan refused.

“I don’t give discounts for individual items, but since you’re getting a set, I’ll take seventy.”

“Then give me five more pairs of stockings—three nude and two black.”

The girl quickly pulled out twelve large-denomination bills from her pocket and handed them to Su Wan. On the side, Su Jianguo, being quick-witted, had already packed the clothes and stockings she wanted into a bag and handed it to her.

The girls behind her quickly followed, pulling out money. Many were buying several pairs of stockings at once, and quite a few were getting full clothing sets as well.

In just half an hour, more than half the stockings were gone, and over sixty sets of clothes had been sold.

Some passersby saw the crowd and came over to see what was being sold.

Most of the buyers were unmarried young women, and they bought clothes and stockings without hesitation. One particularly pretty girl even bought twenty pairs of stockings in one go, afraid she wouldn’t be able to get them again.

Three hundred pairs of stockings sold out in under an hour.

Those who didn’t manage to buy any kept asking if more would come. Su Wan couldn’t promise, so she just said she’d try to get more next time and bring them here if she could.

Of the over 3,000 yuan worth of goods, even some married women had bought shirts and slacks for their husbands. Before 11 o’clock, everything was sold out.

Some girls who didn’t get to buy anything urged Su Wan to restock, saying they’d bring money and wait here tomorrow.

Su Wan didn’t even count the money—she already knew she had made over 10,000 yuan.

The stockings alone had brought her a profit of 2,600. She felt she’d made the perfect call with those.

She hadn’t expected them to sell so quickly.

“Mom, it’s still early. Let’s leave this stuff at the gatekeeper’s. We’ll make another trip to Yangcheng.”

With all the goods sold, she wanted to restock quickly while the demand was still hot.

“Alright,” Zheng Aifang agreed.

It was the first time she’d seen people buy clothes so crazily—seventy-yuan sets of clothes sold without hesitation, and ten-yuan stockings snapped up like cabbages. The young women had been fighting to buy them.

They handed the gatekeeper a couple of packs of cigarettes, left the cart in the guardhouse, and the three of them hurried off to catch a ride back to Yangcheng.

On the way, they nibbled on some biscuits they’d bought, feeling thrilled the entire trip.

Su Wan held her bag in her arms and covered it with her coat—anyone who saw her would’ve thought she was a heavily pregnant woman.

She didn’t feel embarrassed at all. As long as the money was safe, being mistaken for pregnant was no big deal.

By 3:30 PM, they were back at the same stall as the day before.

Seeing her again, the boss frowned, “What, here to return goods? I’m telling you now, we’re a wholesale business. If your sales are bad, I’m not taking anything back.”

“Boss, do you still have stockings in stock?”

The boss was stunned for a moment when he heard that.

Seeing the stockings Su Wan was wearing on her legs, he asked, “You want more?”

“Yes.”

The boss pulled out several large bags from under his stall. “Someone talked me into taking 3,000+ pairs before. I’ve only sold about 800 so far. There are around 2,400 pairs left. If you want them, I’ll give them all to you—saves me the hassle of slowly selling them here.”

Then he asked, “You sold out your last batch?”

Su Wan nodded. “All sold. Do you have any other goods?”

“Of course. I’ve got another batch—want to take a look?”

The boss pulled out a chiffon lace dress from behind him.

“This is an export-quality lace dress—better chiffon than the shirts you bought before. Touch the fabric—it’s really beautiful.”

Su Wan felt the fabric. It was indeed high-quality.

“How much per piece?”

“Fifty-three.”

As soon as he said that, Su Wan shook her head. “Too expensive—might not sell well.”

The light in the boss’s eyes dimmed.

But Su Wan herself really liked the lace dress. “Tell you what. I’ll take twenty of each color, but that’s my limit—I can’t handle more.”

She wanted to test the waters with these. If they didn’t sell, she’d mark them down.

The boss brightened. “There’s black, white, lake blue, and light pink—four colors.”

“Okay. Ten pieces each of small and medium for each color.”

Even though it was just eighty dresses, it still cost over 4,000 yuan—not a small sum.

The 2,400+ pairs of stockings came out to around 3,000 yuan as well.

Su Wan picked up a few more clothing styles, eighty pairs of jeans in two sizes, and a hundred men’s sets. She settled the total bill of over 10,000 yuan, and the three of them rushed to catch the 5:30 PM bus back.

By the time they got home, it was already late.

Li Cuihua had cooked dinner. Seeing them return with even more goods, she didn’t dare ask questions—she assumed things hadn’t sold well and that was why they were late.

After dinner, Chen Yuan was already asleep. Su Wan quietly climbed into bed and went to sleep.

Early the next morning, she ironed a bunch of clothes, quickly had a bite to eat, and carried the goods back to the factory entrance.

This time, aside from stockings, all the clothes were different styles—even the patterns on the jeans had changed.

But the girls didn’t care one bit.

They were already waiting there early in the morning.

As soon as she arrived, they swarmed her, waving money to snatch up the stockings.

Clothes weren’t as urgent—they appreciated the new styles—but stockings were still in hot demand.

Most bought five or ten pairs at a time. Some were even buying for friends and picked up twenty pairs in one go—absolutely crazy.

Su Jianguo had seen the chaos yesterday, but witnessing it again still left him in awe.

Zheng Aifang and Su Jianguo were helping out. Some customers wanted clothes, others jeans, and some spotted the beautiful chiffon lace dresses—eyes lighting up.

Such a pretty dress!

The chiffon dress, neatly ironed, hung gracefully. A delicate bow adorned the chest, the puff sleeves added a lovely touch, and the buttons were beautiful pearl-style ones—absolutely stunning.

“Boss, how much for this dress?”

Someone asked. The others all stared at the dress, eyes sparkling with hope.

They didn’t even dare ask the price—it looked like something a rich heiress from TV would wear.

Even the stores had similar dresses, but not as pretty and with worse quality—and those were already priced around 200 yuan. This one looked far nicer, so they didn’t dare ask, afraid they might not be able to resist pooling their money to buy it.
